  • Patent number: 5727674
Abstract: An improved bundle transfer apparatus for sheet material in signature form is provided. The apparatus includes a frame having rails on which a bundle transfer vehicle is mounted. The bundle transfer vehicle has a platform which is movable to a position under the signatures and a mechanism for raising the platform and the signatures. The signatures on the bundle transfer vehicle are transferred to an end of the table where it is moved by powered rollers to a compression and strapping station where it is tied and delivered for further handling.

  • Patent number: 5711944
Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing long-acting alpha interferon-containing compositions. Alpha interferon is contacted with a relatively small molar excess of a substantially non-antigenic polymer in the presence of a surfactant to preserve bioactivity. Isolation of the desired conjugate species having optimal activity is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5688627
Abstract: A water soluble diazonium salt composition made by the condensation of diazoaryl amines and aldehydes and precipitated to form a polymeric anionic species having both ZnCl.sub.4.sup.= and HSO.sub.4.sup.- moieties. These composition are blended with suitable binders, colorants and other optional components to produce light sensitive coating compositions. When applied to aluminum substrates, these light sensitive coating compositions form lithographic printing plates that are especially stable under high humidity conditions. Such plates may be developed by either water alone or by water which contains surfactants and/or a small amount of an organic solvent.

  • Patent number: 5686639
Abstract: The invention relates to divalent immonium salts which are near infrared dyes of the formula (I).(R.sub.2 NAr).sub.2 --N.sup.+ .dbd.Ar'.dbd.N.sup.+ R.sub.2 +2X.sup.-(I)wherein:R.dbd.C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl; Ar=divalent phenyl which may or may not be ring substituted with one or more alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, nitro, cyano or carboalkoxy groups; Ar'=quinoidal phenyl which may or may not be ring substituted with one or more alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, nitro, cyano or carboalkoxy groups; and X=an anion of a strong acid. A double charged dye cation having an SbF.sub.6 anion associated with the dye can act both a near IR dye and an epoxy curative.

  • Patent number: 5686110
Abstract: A method for rendering water-insoluble materials water-soluble is provided. The method is useful for solubilizing substantially water-insoluble bioactive materials such as drugs. This is accomplished by forming a non-covalently bonded complex between the drug and a polyalkylene oxide polymer end capped with an alkyl or olefinic group which is soluble in both water and an organic solvent. This is carried out by combining the desired medicinal agent with the polymer is an organic solvent, removing the solvent and dissolving the complex in water or aqueous buffer. When the organic solvent is evaporated, a solid complex is recovered which is water-soluble. Methods of treatment with the complexes are also provided.
