Abstract: An exercising apparatus for use by hockey players to practice their shots and improve the accuracy of these shots. The apparatus comprises a lane structure, and a goal structure fixed at one end of the lane. This goal structure includes targets located in each of its corners and lamps associated with each target. A device is provided at the other end of the lane for dispensing pucks one by one on an endless belt. At least one platform is positioned adjacent the endless belt for receiving a hockey player who wants to practice his shots with the dispensed pucks. The platform on which stands the hockey player has an upper surface slightly heightened with respect to the endless belt for simulating, during the exercise, the height of the skates that the hockey player will put on when actually playing on a rink.

Abstract: An improved slide mount of the type comprising a flat rectangular pocket forming a slideway for receiving a standard slide film provided with two lateral rows of driving notches, a central window formed in the pocket and a deformable slot in communication with the slideway to allow the introduction of the slide film with its rows of notches perpendicular to the slot into the slideway. This slide mount is improved in that at least one sprocket is provided for inside the slideway so as to engage one of the notches of the film and lock the same inside the slideway. This sprocket is smaller in size than the notch it engages to let the film free to expand to a certain extent when subjected to the heat of a lamp.

Abstract: A method which determines at least one property of a material by measuring the ultrasonic absorption in this material. In carrying out this method, the material is subjected to an ultrasonic wave having an intensity varying in time. Such a method can be performed by measuring a temperature modulation, produced by absorption of the ultrasonic wave in a probed region of the material, at a surface area corresponding to this probed region, by measuring the ultrasonic power over the probed region, and by calculating the ultrasonic absorption in this probed region from the measured surface temperature modulation and the measured ultrasonic power for the purpose of determining at least one property of the material. Of course, the calculated ultrasonic absorption is representative of this material property.

Abstract: A comb for use by a hairdresser during hair cutting. It has a combing portion and a handle portion which projects from one end of the combing portion, bends back toward the combing portion at a predetermined distance therefrom and includes a gripping part of predetermined length, suitable to be finger-gripped against the palm of a hand of the hairdresser with the combing portion located generally above the back of the hand.

Abstract: A device for stimulating the human respiratory system by making breathing more difficult and limiting lung ventilation. The device comprises a mouth-piece for insertion in the mouth of a person, or a mask attachable to the face of this person. The mouth-piece or mask has a central opening through which the person may breathe. A tubular body defining an air duct is connected at one end to the mouth-piece or to the mask with the air duct in alignment and communication with the opening. The device also comprises a membrane mounted in the tubular body at the other end thereof to put up a breathing resistance in at least one respiratory direction. Proper stimulation is obtained when use is made of a tubular body long enough to increase the dead space of the respiratory system of the person using the device.

Abstract: Collapsible ladder assembly comprising a ladder storage container having, in closed condition, a fixed upright rear wall, an upright front wall and bottom and top walls joining the front and rear walls, a collapsible ladder being held within the container with its top end secured to the container rear wall. The top wall is made up of a rearward section solid with the rear wall and a frontward section projecting from the front wall, a mechanism releasably locking the top wall sections together. The bottom wall is hinged to the rear wall and to the front wall while the latter is also hinged to the frontward section of the top wall, the hinges allowing the walls to pivot about horizontal parallel axes when the locking mechanism is actuated to release the top wall sections from one another, allowing the container unretained walls and the ladder to unfold downwardly under gravity action.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an intravenous catheter assembly which is provided with a catheter plunger tube which can be used to inhibit the formation of blood clots in the catheter when the catheter is not in use.

Abstract: A tree processing unit for use in combination with a motorized carrier. The unit comprises a base support pivotably mounted on and extending up from the carrier, which comprises a pair of spaced apart side plates parallel to each other and defining a through passage between them. An elongated, tubular base is fastened to the upper ends of the side plates of the base support. This base extends above the through passage defined by the side plates. A rigid, elongated boom is movably mounted through the base and has a front end on which is fixed a tree processing head for gripping and debranching a felled tree. Means are fixed onto the base in front of the support and through passage therefrom for holding the processed tree.

Abstract: A door having an improved design is provided, which improved design consisting of a door frame made of a rigid material, a first skin mounted on this frame and forming a first face of the door, and a second skin also mounted on the frame and forming a second face of the door. One of the first and second skins comprises a portion thereof which constitutes at least in part the peripheral edge of the door. In this design, at least one of the first and second skins is made of moldable material and is shaped by vacuum forming to provide the corresponding face of the door with decorative patterns, which decorative patterns as well as the door frame being designed so that the shaped skin can be mounted on the frame. Any empty space between the two skins of the door may be filled with a convenient material, thereby increasing the rigidity of the door.

Abstract: An improved cultivator having support wheels swingably and adjustably mounted under its frame to easily adjust the depth of the cultivating elements. The improved cultivator also has support bars arranged in pairs and carrying cultivating elements thereon. The bars in each pair extend in opposite directions and are connected to the frame by a single wedge having a pair of comming surfaces acting on both bars simultaneously. This wedge can be loosened to easily, slidably, adjust the support bars. The improved cultivator may also comprise a pair of wedge members connected by a bolt for quickly and easily connecting a cultivating element to an end of the support bars.

Abstract: A safety box assembly comprising a safety container of the portable and carrying type, and a mounting base intended to be fastened on a supporting surface such as the floor or the wall of a room. The assembly further comprises a locking arrangement whereby the container may be released from its mounting base to be carried about, the base remaining on the supporting wall. This assembly is conceived so that only by unlocking the locking arrangement can the safety container be opened and removed from its mounting base. The assembly is also conceived so that unless the safety container is unlocked and removed from the mounting base, it is not possible to unfasten the mounting base from its supporting surface and therefore to carry the whole assembly from its selected location.

Abstract: A front wheel-mounted cart having a chassis including a pair of forward side members and a pair of rearward side members, the side members of one pair telescoping into the side members of the other pair. It then serves as a truck for transporting bulky loads. A barrow may be mounted on the chassis in a removable manner by the telescoping action of the chassis side members. The barrow has a handle bar which, when in one position and secured to the chassis, serves to move the cart about and, once the barrow is freed from the chassis, serves for using the barrow as a shovel by pivoting the handle into a shoveling position.

Abstract: A ventilating unit particularly suited for animal buildings. The unit comprises a housing with a central exhaust and an intake duct on each side. Flaps are provided for opening or closing the exhaust and intake ducts and partly or fully diverting exhaust air into the intake ducts. The unit, using a single fan, can change air in a building, circulate air in this building, or both change and circulate the air.

Abstract: An infant feeding bib which is comfortable to wear and efficient in use. The bib comprises an apron-like member made of flexible material, which member is attachable to the neck of the infant to be fed, and a trough-shaped member made of rigid or substantially rigid material, which member is detachably connected to the apron-like member for catching the solids and liquids inadvertantly dropped by the infant.

Abstract: A tank contains water heated by a heat pump having a heat exchanger part in a waste-water reservoir or in a waste air conduit and a further heat exchanger part in the water of the tank, heat being picked up in the reservoir or conduit and delivered to the water in the tank. The latter is a closed tank and the space above the water is connected to the inlet of a motor-driven centrifugal turbine. The lower pressure thus formed above the level of the water by the turbine inlet causes evaporation of the water and the turbine compresses this vapor into pressurized steam.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for carrying out a paint touch up in a corner formed by the intersection of two planar sufaces disposed at right angle with respect to each other. Such a touch up device comprises a first part including a handle and provided with a rectangular plate for masking from the corner a portion of a first of the two surfaces. The touch up device also comprises a paint roller provided with a handle constituted by a rod and holding this roller at one end. The rod is bent in order to cooperate with a guiding system of the first part for the purpose of, when this first part masks the above-mentioned portion of the first surface, positioning the paint roller and guiding any movement along the corner transmitted to this roller through its handle so as to allow painting from the corner of a portion of the second of the two surfaces, which portion of the second surface corresponds to the portion of the first surface masked by the first part.

Abstract: A cultivator of the type having a vertically movable harrow bar followed by a vertically movable harrow roller. A plurality of springs biases the roller down against the ground. The springs are operatively connected to the harrow bar in a manner to have vertical movement of the bar automatically vary the pressure exerted by the roller.

Abstract: An air scrubber apparatus which purifies foul air produced during an embalming or an autopsy carried out on a work table disposed in a room. The scrubber apparatus comprises a housing positioned above the work table, this housing having a first and a second side corresponding to a first and a second side of the work table, respectively. The housing defines from its first side to its second side a first longitudinal outer compartment provided at its two ends with outlets to the room, a central compartment having no bottom wall for thereby providing this central compartment with a wide bottom opening to the room, and a second longitudinal outer compartment also provided at its two ends with outlets to the room.

Abstract: Method of treating a soil particularly for maintaining or increasing the percentage of organic matter therein. This method which is carried out by simple surface composting, after spreading shredded forest residue and animal manure, is very interesting in that it associates the use of an agricultural technique known for its simplicity and low cost with the use of two basic materials produced each year in enormous quantities as industrial by-products for which no disposal means have been found.
