  • Patent number: 4540032
Abstract: A tree harvesting machine is disclosed which is of the type having a wheel-mounted frame, a tree harvesting mechanism at the front and a berth at the rear for accumulated felled trees. An inverted tree grapple is provided forwardly of the berth and is mounted to the berth so that it can be slid to and from the berth whereby the grapple may be held close to the berth during accumulation of felled trees and moved away from the berth when loaded. In this last position, the center of gravity of the load has thus been shifted forwardly. The berth itself is pivoted to the frame to allow loading to take place in rearwardly inclined position. Once loaded, the berth may then be uprighted easily since the center of gravity of the load has shifted forwardly.

Air flow tubes are provided beneath the floor of the combustion chamber and at the top, the air flow tubes being interconnected by lateral air flow tubes then lying outside the casing. The interconnection is such that the tubes form a continuous air flow path having an air inlet connected to a blower, which draws fresh air from outside the room to be heated, and two air outlets disposed laterally of the casing and opening into the room to be heated. In one form, the lateral flow tubes are encased in an insulating brick construction. In an other alternative, they may be contained in a jacket surrounding the casing and also including the top air flow tubes.

  • Patent number: 4525277
Abstract: A method for cleaning a septic tank provided with at least two successive fermentation and decantation compartments connected to each other by a lateral opening. According to this method, the light and/or heavy sludges contained in each compartment are pumped and discharged in a waste tank whereas the bacteriological liquid medium of both compartments is pumped out and stored in a storage tank. The liquid medium kept in the storage tank is reintroduced into the septic tank after the same has been cleaned, to reactivate said tank thereby making it immediately operative. A tanker especially designed for carrying out this method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4524798
Abstract: A safety valve for automatically stopping the flow of a fluid brought by a conduit into a reservoir when the level of fluid in the reservoir reaches a maximum predetermined height. This valve is of the type comprising an obturation plate pivotally mounted in a housing provided in the supply conduit proximate the outlet of the conduit, and a control device including a float mounted at the end of a rod arranged to rock the obturation plate from an open position where it allows the fluid to flow freely to a closed position where it obturates the conduit to thereby stop the flow of fluid and consequently its arrival into the reservoir when the level of the fluid has reached the predetermined maximum level aforesaid. The pivot on which the obturation plate is mounted is provided on the outside of the housing and of the supply conduit, and is preferably made up of two aligned stub axles respectively seating into two small bearings made solid with two opposed external surfaces of the housing of the obturation plate.

  • Patent number: 4497434
Abstract: A fluid flow sensor, comprising a tubular element having a greater diameter than and vertically mounted on a pipe for serially interconnecting two portions of this pipe. One portion is connected to the upper end of the tubular element while the other portion is connected to its lower end. A magnetic piston is slidably mounted within the tubular element and is therefore free to move along it. A by-pass conduit interconnects the lower portion of the pipe with the upper portion of the pipe. The piston moves upwardly in the tubular element when the fluid flows. Fluid flows from the portion of the pipe connected at the lower end of the tubular element to the one connected at its upper end through the by-pass. The piston moves downwardly by gravity to the lower end of the tubular element when the fluid stops flowing. A coil wound around a portion of the tubular element produces in electrical signal when the piston moves in the tubular element.
