  • Patent number: 6347915
Abstract: A two-piece lock washer for use with a variety of fasteners wherein the lock washer itself includes a pair of components having opposite end opposing surfaces formed with a plurality of inclined ramps and locking faces so that when the components are pressed together, the ramps will ride upon each other as the fastener is turned until locking faces engage where locking is produced. The lock washer includes a central opening through which the shank of a fastener is passed and an exterior surface of the washer bears against the workpiece while the exterior surface of the other component bears against the head of the fastener. Thereby axial compression of the lock washer components causes the locking faces of the ramps to engage as the fastener is tightened against the workpiece. Backing off is prevented due to locking face engagement and the provision of radial ribs bearing against the fastening nut and the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6331750
Abstract: A light source device is provided for separating light into several light components with a plurality of colors or hues which includes a source of white light and at least one dichroic filter carried on an envelope of the light source device. The filter selects a particular wavelength band from a visible light spectrum and transmits only light from the selected wavelength band therethrough. The filter includes a mirror for reflecting light having a wavelength band other than the selected wavelength band whereby all transmitted light exits the device in different combinations of colors or hues. Several filters and mirrors may be arranged adjacent to each other with respect to the light source and the apparatus therefore transmits ideally 100% of the light from the light source and no additional means are required for dissipating or absorbing the non-selected wavelength bands since all bands or rays are included in the multi-colored emission.

  • Patent number: 6298488
Abstract: A kitchen grip or implement for kitchen use is composed of a water-resistant and stain proof material having temperature control characteristics. Such a material forms the implement from at least one sheet having a textured, recessed or irregular surface providing a non-slip contact surface while the opposite surface of the sheet is composed of a close fabricated fabric which is affixed to the sheet of non-slip contact surface material. The fabric sheet may be a sheet of nylon/polyester composition which is affixed to the non-slip contact surface sheet which may be composed of a chloride rubber. The sheets are die cut to the shape of a useful implement such as a hand mitt, a trivet, a lid holder or the like. A two-piece implement such as a hand mitt requires that two sheets of the fabric and chloride rubber composition be sewn together by means of a zigzag lock stitch employing nylon thread.

  • Patent number: 6286497
Abstract: An air valve and regulator system for an air gun includes a cylindrical body having an internal air chamber operably connected at one end to a high pressure air supply. The other end of the cylinder is provided with a discharge orifice having a conical or frustro-conical member mounted coaxially with the cylinder and which partially occupies the discharge orifice so that exhausting air strikes the tapered surface and is distributed in a radial direction exteriorly of the air gun. A support brace mounts the member across the orifice and the surrounding surface of the discharge orifice is similarly tapered so that its surface is parallel with the exterior surface of the member. The space in between represents a circular discharge opening or orifice through which the high pressure exhaust is directed exteriorly of the gun. A regulator valve stem and regulator seal in movable relationship with respect to the member is provided so that reciprocal movement is permitted between the member and the stem.

  • Patent number: 6272761
Abstract: A tape measuring device for the direct measurement to determine cup size of the breast which includes using an elongated flexible measuring tape for band size measurement by initially measuring the user's girth circumference with the flexible tape measure immediately below the breasts followed by adding five inches to the measured number and incorporating conventional round off procedures. Cup size is determined by directly measuring with the same flexible tape measure of the circumference of each unclothed (bare) breast from the beginning of the breast mound at one side laterally to the parasternal area medially. Next, a measurement conversion is made wherein a measurement of seven inches corresponds to an “A” size cup, eight inches a “B” size cup, nine inches a “C” cup, etc. Each one inch increment determines a cup size.

  • Patent number: 6257329
Abstract: A thermal management system includes a compressed and heat treated graphite material layer or runs laminated between two layers of thin insulated layers providing an integral construction. Heat generating components are mounted on the insulation layers and openings are selectively placed in the insulation layers immediately adjacent to each heat generating component. Each opening is occupied by graphic material connecting with the runs of graphite material laminated between the insulated layers. Heat generated by the component is carried by the graphite in the openings serving as a connector to the graphite layer or run for transfer and connection away from the component. The graphite material layers serve as thermal bus lines designed into a suitable geometric configuration. The graphite material runs or strips terminate in a remote dissipation device or in a thermal utilization device.

  • Patent number: 6238297
Abstract: A bowling ball thumb sleeve provides an elongated sleeve having a cylindrical wall thickness composed of a yieldable material that defines an open-ended passageway adapted to insertably receive the thumb of the bowler via either end of the sleeve as opposed to the sole opening of a finger insert. Each open end of the passageway is defined by a geometric shape or configuration at the time of sleeve usage in the bowling ball hole. The sleeve provides for at least one pad or wedge-shaped thickened portion at least at one entrance to the passageway and such may be present at both entrances. An example of an entrance shape may be oval, round or elliptical and the improved sleeve provides for a combination of these geometric shapes. The thumb sleeve is elongated and of a length greater than the length of a bowling ball hole and the player may select the entrance opening shape and ramp thickness followed by severing and removing the opposite end which then may be discarded.

  • Patent number: 6232552
Abstract: A holding block for wires having a plurality of grooves in a surface for receiving a plurality of wires in spaced-apart relationship including a plurality of sets of openings in the block straddling each wire in the plurality so that a retaining clip can be introduced into each of the respective sets of openings for retaining the wire in position. Each clip includes a pair of barbed legs inserted into the respective sets of openings so as to mate with and engage with notches or points along the length of openings. The clip employs a pressure-bearing member midway between the barbed legs for forcible engagement with the insulated portion of each wire so as to hold the wire in position on the block. Staggering of the clips between adjacent wires places the plurality of wires and clips close together.
