  • Patent number: 8259677
Abstract: The invention regards a handover method for a data packet based wireless mobile communications network. The network comprises a core network (CN) and a radio area network (RAN). The core network (CN) comprises a control plane node (MME) intercommunicating with a user plane node (UPE). The radio area network comprises a mobile user equipment (UE) intercommunicating with a source radio base transceiver station, eNOdeB, (source eNodeB), wherein payload data is routed via a tunnel between the user plane node (UPE) and the source eNodeB (source eNodeB), wherein the handover comprises the step of establishing a temporary tunnel between the user plane node (UPE) and a target eNodeB (target eNodeB), the handover being initiated by the target eNodeB (target eNodeB) transmitting an unreliable uplink data signal to the user plane node (UPE) comprising handover information.

  • Patent number: 8260613
Abstract: A double talk detector for controlling the echo path estimation in a telecommunication system by indicating when a received coded speech signal is dominated by a non-echo signal; i.e., that so-called double talk exists. This is determined by extracting LSPs from a coded speech frame of the received coded speech signal when the signal power exceeds a first threshold value, converting each of said extracted LSPs into LSFs, and calculating the distance between each two adjacent LSFs. For each distance that is smaller than a second threshold, a spectral peak is located between the two LSFs, and it is determined whether said spectral peak is an echo or not. When a predetermined number of non-echo spectral peaks are located in the received speech signal, double talk will be indicated, and the echo path estimation may be disabled.

  • Patent number: 8254280
Abstract: The invention proposes a method for enabling a composing of a set of cells within a coverage area of a radio access network within which the same information is transmitted time synchronously using a modulation and coding scheme common for the cells of the set. The proposed method comprises the following steps performed by a mobile station connectable to the radio access network: identifying one or more pilot signals from respective one or more cells monitored by the mobile station, determining signal and interference contributions from the one or more monitored cells with regard to a particular set of cells, reporting the determined signal and interference contributions towards a network node performing the composition of the set of cells.

  • Patent number: 8254313
Abstract: When a mobile station (MS) seeks access to a public land mobile network (PLMN) via an unlicensed or generic access networks (GAN) it first registers with a default GAN. If the default GAN is unable to serve the MS at its current location, it redirects the MS to other GANs serving the same of different PLMNs. However, when using the existing registration and redirection process, an MS has no means of knowing what services are provided by a specific combination of GAN and PLMN. In accordance with the present invention this is achieved by indicating for each PLMN and serving GANC an operation mode supported by the GANC. This operation mode being indicative of the interface used for communication between the GANC and PLMN it serves.

  • Patent number: 8224622
Abstract: The present invention relates to an iterative method and an apparatus for distribution-independent detection of intermediate outliers and outliers in the distribution tail of streamed data. A considerable sequence of streamed data is sequentially read and subsequently assigned to matching bins. The bins are adaptively allocated when, where and if they are needed. Each bin range expands concurrently with the distribution range of the accumulating items assigned to the bin, adding a margin. For every N'th read item, overlapping or adjoining bins are merged, whereupon the bins are assessed for insider preclusion. Information regarding outliers is extracted from the remaining outlier bins when the entire data sequence has been processed.

  • Patent number: 8224271
Abstract: An electronic device (200,300) comprising an antenna arrangement with first and second antenna groups with first (122, 142) and a second (124, 144) radiation elements. The first and second radiation elements in each group have first and second respective polarizations and gain, and said groups also comprise a beam forming network (126, 146) connected to the radiation elements of the group and to an output selector (150). The beam forming network (126, 146) of each antenna group uses the radiation elements (122, 124; 142, 144) in the group to create a radiation pattern (127, 147) with a polarization which is a composite of the first and second polarizations of the elements in the group, so that a first (127) and a second (147) radiation pattern of composite polarization is created. The output selector (150) selects or combines signals received by the two antenna groups as its output.

  • Patent number: 8213486
Abstract: A method for simplifying calculations for pre-whitening in a G-RAKE receiver, comprising receiving at least two signals with at least two antennas via a channel, where each one of said received signals comprises time delayed and attenuated versions of the original signals. Each received signal forms a corresponding vector of received signal versions and the vectors form a matrix of received signals, where, due to correlation between the antennas, the received signals are correlated. Each version also comprises a certain amount of colored noise. The correlating effect of the antennas is estimated and formulated in matrix form and used to acquire essentially uncorrelated received signal vectors in an essentially uncorrelated received signal matrix. A calculated inverse of a covariance matrix of the calculated essentially uncorrelated signal vectors is used to pre-whiten the noise. A G-RAKE receiver arranged for applying the method above.

  • Patent number: 8213941
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cellular communications network and in particular to the problem of identifying cells for neighbor lists, or handover candidates when the cells are identified by a limited number of non-unique identities. The present invention includes a method for a radio base station, wherein the base station receives reports from one or more terminals in neighbor cells quality and non-unique identities. The match is sought in a neighbor cell list non-unique identity with a unique cell identity. If the match cannot be made without ambiguity, the base station causes the terminal to detect the unique cell identity. If the reason for the ambiguity is the particular cell is not included in the neighbor cell list it is included when its unique identity has been established. The uniquely identified cell is used if it is determined to perform a handover.

  • Patent number: 8199865
Abstract: A device and method in a radio receiver for generating synchronization and channel estimation information based on three parameters consisting of a synchronization position, at least one whitening filter parameter, and a channel estimate. A spatially and temporally stacked signal model is generated by stacking successive samples of temporally adjacent received signal vectors and corresponding training vectors. Initial estimates of a first one or two of the three parameters are then generated based on the spatially and temporally stacked signal model. The rest of the three parameters are then computed based on the initial estimates of the first one or two parameters. If a stopping criterion is met, the method ends and the parameters are used to process the signal. If the stopping criterion is not met, additional iterations are performed to improve the synchronization and estimation information.

  • Patent number: 8195120
Abstract: Precedence and preemption may be extended for remote terminals. In an example embodiment, a communication node implements a method with respect to a communications system that implements an enhanced multi-level precedence and preemption (eMLPP) scheme. The method includes acts of receiving, mapping, and transmitting. An incoming connection establishment communication having a priority-header value that indicates a priority for a connection to be established is received at the communication node. The priority-header value is mapped to an eMLPP value that indicates a precedence and preemption level for the connection to be established. An outgoing connection establishment communication having the eMLPP value is transmitted from the communication node.

  • Patent number: 8189512
Abstract: A method and apparatus for routing communications traffic in a Proxy Mobile IP communications network. A Mobile Node is attached to a first Proxy Mobile Agent, and an optimized route is established between the Mobile Node and a Corresponding Node via the first Proxy Mobile Agent. When the Mobile Node subsequently attaches to a second Proxy Mobile Agent, a determination is made that the Mobile Node is no longer attached to the first Proxy Mobile Agent. As a result of the determination a request is sent from the first Proxy Mobile Agent to the Corresponding Node to cancel the route optimization. In one embodiment, packets from the Corresponding Node are bi-cast from the Proxy Mobile Agent to the Home Agent and the Mobile Node. The Proxy Mobile Agent determines that the Mobile Node is no longer attached to if packets are not returned from the Home Agent.
