  • Patent number: 5093759
Abstract: An electronics box includes a cover and a bottomwall spaced from the cover by opposed sidewalls of the box. A motherboard having circuit card connectors thereon is mounted in the electronics box adjacent the cover. The box further includes in-line connectors mounted adjacent the motherboard with the in-line connectors interconnected with the connectors in the motherboard. The bottomwall and sidewalls include circuit card edge guides formed therein for retaining circuit cards connected to the motherboard. The arrangement of the in-line connectors adjacent to the motherboard provides for relatively direct and short runs for the interconnecting harness cable, thereby minimizing the amount of space within the box devoted to internal interconnect cables. The in-line connectors provide for straight-line connection or disconnection, making possible direct mounting with a simple jackscrew arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5081457
Abstract: A system wherein TCAS transmissions have two jitter components added to the jitter component utilized in the interscan interval to minimize TCAS interference with ground station operation. The jitter components minimize the establishment of false intruder tracks caused by responses to ground station interrogations or interrogations by other TCAS interrogators which are received in synchronism with the TCAS interrogation signals.

  • Patent number: 5070466
Abstract: The vector generator employs a digital accumulator for each vector component. The accuracy of generated vectors is optimized by presetting the fractional portions of the accumulators to a value of either 1/2 or to 1/2 less 1 LSB. Accumulation of errors over concatenated vectors is eliminated by employing high enough fractional resolution relative to the maximum vector length so that error accumulation on any single vector is limited to the fractional portions of the accumulators, and by setting the fractional portions of the accumulators, on the last clock cycle of each vector, to a value of 1/2 to 1/2 less 1 LSB. Also, by setting/presetting the fractions to only 1/2 less 1 LSB, and by enabling the carry input to a given accumulator on only the first clock cycle of vectors that have certain orientations, then symmetry is forced or favored in complex symbology that is generated by concatenated vectors.

  • Patent number: 5032007
Abstract: An electronic color filter system for controlling a picture element color signal includes three filter regions which selectively control spectral components of light transmitted sequentially therethrough. Each filter region has a liquid crystal host material and a dye guest component. The orientation of the liquid crystal host, determined by an electric field applied to the filter material, determines the absorption coefficient of the dye guest component to polarized light. By appropriate selection of the guest dye component and control of the electric fields applied to the host liquid crystal, the transmitted light can have a selected radiation spectrum. The transmitted light of a multiplicity of picture elements can be used to provide a full-color visual image display.

  • Patent number: 5030301
Abstract: A metal fuel for producing power for propulsion is disclosed. The fuel is made up of a metal core, a metal barrier and an oxidizer layer. The combination of materials disclosed provides a means for melting the metal core so that it can be oxidized in an exothermic reaction to produce power. The metal fuel may also be stabilized with respect to auto-ignition by adding a binder layer. A method for producing the metal fuel is also described herein.

  • Patent number: 5024265
Abstract: A zone control system uses signals from a plurality of separate zone thermostats to determine the zone of greatest thermal load or demand. Specifically, the on-time of each thermostat signal is integrated with respect to time so that the zone of greatest demand can be determined. The thermostat signal from the zone of greatest demand is used to control a duct damper between that zone and a heating/cooling plant. To synchronize the opening of the other zone duct dampers with the duct damper of the zone of greatest demand, the length of each of the on-periods of the thermostats in the other zones is first converted to the cycle rate of the zone of greatest demand thermostat since the other thermostats are operating at different duty cycles. A microprocessor-based master zone controller uses these converted on-signals to control respective zone duct dampers in the other zones coincident with the start of the thermostat on-period of the zone of greatest demand.

  • Patent number: 5025378
Abstract: The horizontal stabilizer position is provided to the automatic flight control system software where it is passed through a second order Chebychev motion filter to provide horizontal stabilizer rate. A threshold and hysteresis function detects when the motion exceeds 0.08.degree. per second. While the stabilizer motion exceeds the threshold, a displacement detector determines when the stabilizer position has exceeded 1.degree. since the motion was first detected. When the 1.degree. change in position has occurred while the rate was exceeded, a motion flag is transmitted to the warning system. A sign change detector determines when the output of the motion filter changes sign. A holding latch responsive to the stabilizer position and to the threshold and hysteresis function latches the stabilizer position when the 0.08.degree. per second rate is exceeded. The difference between the latched position and the current position is applied to a threshold detector to determine when the difference exceeds the 1.
