Abstract: The method is for treating a liquid or slurry with an ultrasonic energy. A movable endless member is provided that is permeable to a liquid. A transverse foil is disposed below the member and extends across the member and a transducer is in operative engagement with the foil. The member is moved about rollers. The transducer generates pressure pulses into the foil to form implosion bubbles in the liquid disposed above the member. The implosion bubbles have a first diameter (d1). A gap is formed between the member and the foil. The gap represents a distance (d2) that is less than the diameter (d1) of the bubbles to prevent any bubbles of critical size to be captured in the gap.

Abstract: The method is for testing an electrical component. The sender unit 12 may be applied to an electrical plug 24 that has a first line 28, a second line 32 and a ground line 36. It is determined which of the lines 28, 32, 36 that has a voltage potential relative to the surrounding. The phase configuration of the electrical plug 24 may be determined. The unit 14 is applied to a remote electrical unit and the sender sends a synchronization signal 41 to the receiver unit 14 that starts a counter providing a measurement of the time difference between corresponding phase positions of the alternating current of the plug 24 and that of the remote electrical unit. This time difference can then be converted to a phase difference value. The system may also be used to identify a specific fuse that is associated with the plug and for testing ground fault interrupting devices.

Abstract: The method is for selecting a telephone operator for mobile telephones. The mobile telephone has an operator card installed therein that has preprogrammed codes for providing communication via a first and a second telephone operator. A telephone number is then entered on the mobile telephone to activate the mobile telephone. A first request signal is sent to the first telephone operator and a second request signal is sent to the second telephone operator. The first telephone operator sends back a first response signal to the mobile telephone and the second telephone operator sends back a second response signal to the mobile telephone. A price request signal is sent to the first and second telephone operators. In response to the price request signal, the first telephone operator sends back a first price signal and the second telephone operator sends back a second price signal to the mobile telephone.
Abstract: The method is for a hormonal treatment to compensate for the weakening of farynx components, tongue, tonsils, uvula, soft palate that occur during deep sleep and blocks the airways to cause obstructive sleep apnea. About 0.5-5 mg of melatonin is orally administered to a person between 10-80 years old before the person sleeps anddehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is administered in combination with andrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH).
Abstract: The system is for the oxygen delignification, in at least two reaction stages, of pulp that consists of lignocellulose-containing material having a mean concentration of 8%-18% pulp consistency. The oxygen delignification takes place in a first reaction stage that has a substantially constant low pressure during the whole delignification process. The second delignification stage has a substantially higher pressure and temperature and a longer dwell time. Readily delignifiable constituents in the pulp may react without the pulp being negatively affected so that the delignification process provides a very high degree of selectivity and an improved yield.
Abstract: The method is performed in a telecommunication network that comprise one or more terminals, a data server and a network interface. The terminal requests a communication product stored in a data server after which the terminal gets access to the requested product. The steps required by the communication product are performed as an interactive real-time communication between the terminal and the data server. The results of the performed steps are then received at the terminal.
Abstract: The apparatus and method for processing worms uses spaced top and bottom surfaces of a rotor set a sufficient distance apart so that worm bodies to be processed touch both surfaces. A splitter is located mid-way between the surfaces and the worm bodies are forced by centrifugal force and by a flow of water in which the bodies are entrained to encounter and to be split by the splitter blade. The top and bottom surfaces are set a sufficient distance apart so that the worm bodies are partially flattened when passing therebetween. The splitter is located so as to be operative to split the central digestive tract of the worm body. An inlet is located in the top surface through which the worm bodies are introduced into the space between the top and bottom surfaces.
Abstract: The pipe system is for receiving and transporting lime sludge from a filter medium in a continuously operating pressurized filter 1 in a causticizing process, where lime sludge is scraped off from the filter medium 2 and falls down into receiving chutes 4a for the lime sludge. Conventional storage tanks for scraped-off lime sludge and their mechanical agitators are thus replaced by a pipe system 11 where the pipe system does not have a mechanical agitator at all but has a flow cross section which maintains a flow rate in the lime sludge so that sedimentation of the lime sludge does not take place from the receiving chute 4a to the feed-out opening 30 of the pipe system.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the determination of stand attributes with an instrument above the stand. In the method, three-dimensional information is collected from the stands by using such a number of sample hits, that individual trees or groups of trees can be distinguished. A three-dimensional tree height model is produced from collected information. Stand attributes—which are characteristics of individual trees or groups of trees and/or characteristics derived using these information for larger areas—are determined from the tree height model. The invention also relates to a computer program which can be used to carry out the second and third step of the method.

Abstract: The invention is concerned with a method for the determination of the charging state of filtrates of fiber masses used in the manufacturing of paper and cardboard. In the method, a sample is filtrated from fibers through a filter, and indicator color is added to the filtrate. The absorbance of the filtrate is measured and the charging state of the solution is read from an earlier made calibration curve that corresponds to the measured absorbance. In the first embodiment of the invention, the calibration curve is made by taking a sufficient amount of samples from the same anionic sample and such different known amounts of cationic agent are added to these samples, that at least a part of the samples are cationic and at least a part of the samples are anionic. The charging states of the filtrated samples are determined in a previously known way, e.g.
