  • Patent number: 5999030
Abstract: A clock control circuit is provided in a flip-flop circuit, since a first clock signal supplied to a master latch circuit is generated by an OR logic between a reference clock signal and a skew adjustment clock signal, a second clock signal supplied to a slave latch circuit is generated in accordance with the reference clock signal, the first clock signal has a phase advanced from the second clock signal by exactly an amount of a skew margin. An input signal is fetched into the flip-flop circuit at the rising edge of the first clock signal, then is output at the rising edge of the second clock signal. By this, malfunction due to the clock skew is prevented. The flip-flop circuit can operate as in the normal mode by holding the skew adjustment clock at a logic "0".

  • Patent number: 5999462
Abstract: An analog delay circuit which includes an analog memory circuit wherein a plurality of memory cells each including a memory capacitor and a selection switch for the memory capacitor are arranged in a matrix includes row switches provided for the individual columns for individually being driven by row selection signals. A same clock signal from a clock generation circuit is supplied commonly to an X direction scanning circuit and a Y direction scanning circuit. The number of stages of registers of the X direction scanning circuit and the number of stages of registers of the Y direction scanning circuit are set so that they have no common divisor other than 1. Consequently, when the memory cells are to be selectively scanned, a same selection condition can be provided to all of the memory cells without relying upon the positions of the memory cells, and the parasitic capacitance connected to a signal write/read terminal is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5998302
Abstract: In a semiconductor device manufacturing method for etching an insulating film on the surface of a silicon semiconductor to expose the surface of the silicon semiconductor, and then forming a thin film so as to cover at least the etched portion. Simultaneously with or after etching, an SiC film is formed on the surface of a semiconductor which is exposed by the etching, and a thin film is formed on the SiC film without removing the SiC film. Specifically, the etching is performed by using carbon-based etching gas, for example, to form the SiC film simultaneously with the etching.

  • Patent number: 5991128
Abstract: A tape guide system includes a rotary head drum inclined by a predetermined angle relative to a mechanical chassis of a recording and/or reproducing apparatus on which the head drum is mounted. A guide roller extends essentially vertically relative to the mechanical chassis on a side of the rotary head drum. An inclined guide post is arranged between the rotary head drum and the guide roller along a tape path. The inclined guide post is inclined at a first angle relative to the mechanical chassis. The first angle is a theoretical angle plus an additional offset angle. The offset angle lies in a direction parallel to a tape surface in contact with the side of the rotary head drum. The theoretical angle is derived from predetermined parameters including an inclination angle of the rotary head drum relative to the mechanical chassis and a tape-wrap angle at which tape is wound onto the rotary head drum.

  • Patent number: 5991425
Abstract: An arrangement for minimizing acoustic reflections and diffraction from an exterior surface of a diaphragm of a loudspeaker transducer. A layer of highly optimized acoustic foam is applied to an exterior surface of the transducer diaphragm. The acoustic foam is a polyether urethane material of approximately 2 lb/ft.sup.3 density with a skinned bottom surface, optional skinned top surface and optimized cell size and structure. The foam is die cut into a shape to conform to the concave shape of the transducer diaphragm without large air gaps or deformation of the foam. The acoustic foam surface prevents reflection and diffraction of another transducer's output off of the diaphragm of the treated transducer and provides a low pass filtering of the acoustic output of the treated transducer.

  • Patent number: 5987398
Abstract: A method and apparatus for analyzing a process or machine having a non-constant mean of a response variable using statistical process control techniques. Several measurements of a response variable are taken while the monitored machine is known to be operating in control. Through statistical regression techniques, a mathematical formula is derived to predict the value using indicator variables at various periods in the process. Then, while the process or machine is operating on an ongoing basis, actual measurements of the response variable are taken and compared to the predicted values using indicator variables calculated from the derived formula. Statistical process control rules are applied to the measured values of the response variable and the predicted value using indicator variables to determine if the machine or process has fallen out of control.

  • Patent number: 5983438
Abstract: A cleaning apparatus and method for removing debris from the seals of a pressurized enclosure, specifically a sputter load lock chamber. The cleaning apparatus includes a load lock replacement door, a cleaning tool, and a seal. The load lock replacement door includes a surface that seals the opening of the load lock chamber so as to maintain a desired vacuum pressure in the load lock chamber. The sealing surface supports a cleaning tool. The cleaning tool and the sealing surface are supported by a vacuum seal which limits leakage of gas at ambient conditions into the load lock chamber. Once the tool is installed, the load lock chamber is pumped-down to a desired vacuum pressure. The tool is manipulated as necessary to remove debris from the seals of the load lock chamber. Once the cleaning process has been completed, the load lock chamber is vented, the tool removed, and the load lock door closed and sealed.

  • Patent number: 5982592
Abstract: A recording and playback device utilizing magnetic tape, such as a tape cassette, as a recording medium includes a magnetic head arranged to contact one side of the magnetic tape and a stabilizer arranged positioned directly opposed the magnetic head corresponding to the opposite side of the magnetic tape such that the magnetic tape move along a path interposed between the stabilizer and the magnetic head. The stabilizer includes a tape slider surface in contact with the side of the tape opposite the magnetic head contacting side. Further, the tape slider surface of the stabilizer may be formed with a recessed portion and tape surface scraper portions. According to this structure vibration of the magnetic tape in the vicinity of the magnetic head is greatly reduced such that a head servo for control of the magnetic head may accurately position the magnetic head even in devices utilizing a very small track pitch.
