  • Patent number: 5940122
Abstract: A housing assembly for housing a surveillance television camera comprises a housing member to house the surveillance television camera therein, having a front wall provided with a window paned with a glass filter through which the surveillance television camera receives light rays representing the scene of a surveillance zone, and a flange to be fastened to a fixed structure; and covering member to cover the housing member, having a front wall provided with an opening which is positioned opposite to the window of the housing member when the covering member is put on the housing member, and capable of covering the housing member so that the surveillance television camera housed in the housing member will not be perceptible. Since the housing assembly is simple in shape and appearance and can be colored in a color harmonizing with the ambient color, the housing assembly is scarcely noticeable and does not make people aware of being under surveillance.

  • Patent number: 5926351
Abstract: A tape cartridge that can be extracted from the recording/reproducing apparatus by a changer device in which powder debris caused by abrasion are not produced and flow marks may be prevented from becoming apparent. The tape cartridge has a main body portion, on which outer peripheral wall sections are integrally formed upright, a pair of tape reels rotatably mounted within the inside of the cartridge man body portion and a magnetic tape reeled out from one of the tape reels so as to be taken up on the other tape reel. In the outer peripheral wall section of the cartridge main body portion are formed arm engagement recesses engaged by arms provided on a changer device. On the outer peripheral wall section of the cartridge main body portion are formed arm extraction irregular surface sections having a plurality of crests having sharply pointed distal ends.

  • Patent number: 5926108
Abstract: A pager and two-way paging system may be provided which allow the pager user to send a request for movie information. The system identifies the general location of the pager user; compiles theater location, movie and show time information appropriate to the pager user's location; and transmits the information to the pager user. In a more sophisticated system, the pager user may be able to select a theater, movie and show time and transmit the selection from the pager to the paging system. The service provider of the paging system then arranges for tickets to that movie to be purchased in advance for the pager user.

  • Patent number: 5923508
Abstract: A corner roller for guiding a tape recording/reproducing medium in a tape cartridge having a body defining an axially extending bore and an undulating circumferential surface. The undulating circumferential surface has an inverted radius for contacting a drive belt in a tape cartridge. The circumferential surface of the body defines a pair of opposed end portions and a center portion having about the same diameter d1, in which the center portion is respectively separated from the end portions by a pair of spaced intermediate portions, each having a diameter d2 less than the diameter d1 of the end and center portions. The circumferential surface in profile defines a surface which is a smooth surface of revolution axially traversing from a first diameter d1 to a second smaller diameter d2 to a middle portion having about the first diameter d1, then to another portion having a smaller diameter d2 merging with an end portion 66 having a larger diameter d1.

  • Patent number: 5914669
Abstract: A novel pager allows the input and transmission of a virtual unlimited range of messages. The pager has a character dial on the periphery of which are printed the letters of the alphabet and digits 0 to 9. A rotary encoder encodes the movement of the dial. When a selection key is pressed, the character showing through a window in the housing of the pager is selected and entered. When the message is completed, the pager may transmit the message to a paging system by radio transmission to a base station or by emitting a series of sounds in which the message is encoded. In the case of emitted sounds, the sounds are conveyed along an open phone line to the paging system where they are decoded.

  • Patent number: 5913488
Abstract: In a spiral cable reel including a stator member, a rotor member rotatable with respect to the stator member, and a stopper, the stopper body has protrusions at its one end which are engageable with and disengageable from engaging holes which are formed in the protruded portion of the rotor member, and locking members which are engageable with and disengageable from bosses of the stator member. The stopper stops the relative rotation between the rotor member and the stator member, and correctly determines the positional relationship between the stator member and the rotor member, and maintains it unchanged during the installation of the spiral cable reel onto equipment.

  • Patent number: 5905846
Abstract: Input MPEG coded image data is input through a buffer to a variable length decoding unit where it is subject to variable length decoding. The quantized DCT coefficients are output to an inverse quantization unit, while the motion vectors are output to a motion compensation prediction unit. The quantized DCT coefficients are inversely quantized at the inverse quantization unit to generate DCT coefficients. The DCT coefficients have values of the items of frequencies higher than the desired frequency limit converted to 0 at the DCT coefficient conversion unit whereby the motion data found at the format conversion unit is added at the adder and the result input as the original image data to the format conversion unit. The pixels are thinned at the format conversion unit to generate a compressed image which is then displayed on a display unit.
