Abstract: A material comprising a thermoplastic sheet is bonded ultrasonically to another thermoplastic textile or non-thermoplastic fibrous textile surface. The fibrous textile surface has an equivalent or higher melt temperature than thermoplastic sheet.
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for determining the diameter of sheet material wound on a reel, and for setting the tension on sheet material as it is wound on the reel. According to one embodiment, the diameter of a take-up reel including sheet material wound thereon is determined from the angle of rotation or instantaneous angular speed of the take-up reel, and movement of the sheet material as obtained from rotation of a circular element such as a drive roller in a pinch roller drive system which rotates in proportional to sheet material movement. In another embodiment, the diameter of a reel in a reel-to-reel transport system is determined from the angles of rotation or instantaneous angular speeds of the supply and take-up reels, the total amount of sheet material in the system, and the packing factor of the sheet material rewound on the take-up reel.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for use with printers (or plotters) for storing and transferring ink-containing ribbon cassettes between a print head and a storage location. The printers (or plotters) are of the type which include a print head that is not as wide as the width of the medium to be printed on so that the print head has to be moved to print (or plot) across the full width of the medium. The apparatus automatically removes a cassette mounted to the movable carriage to which the print head is also mounted and deposits it in the storage station, and automatically removes a selected cassette from the storage station and deposits it on the print carriage. The apparatus includes cassette holders at the storage location and a cassette holder mounted to the print carriage.

Abstract: An electronic power distributor is provided. The distributor is a cylindrical base unit shaped like a hockey puck which contains a top surface, bottom and side circular surfaces. In the top surface, there are a number of holes which extend into the base unit. These holes have a threaded portion for engaging with a power bolt. The side circular surface contains a number of holes which extend into the base unit and are positioned to perpendicularly intersect the holes which extend from the top surface. The holes on the side are capable of receiving the strands of a wire conductor or an adapter of other size conductors. The power bolts which hold the wire conductors in the holes through the side circular surface contain three portions. The first portion is conical and contain a first annular beveled surface extending radially and axially generally toward the vertex.

C. to 1180.degree. C. to form hydroxylapatite base porous beads, dipping the porous beads in a colloidal solution, removing air from the porous beads under vacuum, and filling the colloidal solution into the pores in the porous beads under pressure.
Abstract: In a color processing circuit for a video camera, there is provided a white balance control circuit for supplying a plurality of white balance control voltages to the color processing circuit, the white balance control circuit comprising a control voltage dividing section for dividing first and second white balance voltages from a white balance control section to generate first through fourth white balance control voltages to the color processing circuit.
Abstract: An optical scanning wand is disclosed that provides improved illumination of the document scanned and improved visual control of the movement of the wand. The wand comprises a handle having a hollow tip disposed at an oblique angle thereto. The tip has a scanning window opening at its distal end that defines the target zone through which the image being scanned should pass. In one embodiment light is directed to the document through the transparent tip. In another embodiment the light is directed toward the document by optical fibers from a light source located behind the wand's light sensor and the tip is cut away to provide viewing window openings.

The laser printer comprises a printing unit for splitting a laser beam generated from a laser into a picture forming beam and a manuscript reading-out beam by a beam splitter, and a manuscript readout unit for reading out the content of the manuscript by scanning the manuscript reading-out beam on the manuscript. The printing unit and the manuscript readout unit commony have a double-structured hologram disk for diffracting and scanning the splitted beams. The double-structured hologram disk comprises picture forming holograms formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof and manuscript reading-out holograms formed on the interior thereof.
Abstract: The device according to the present invention comprises a galvanic cell including a gas generating electrode, a counter electrode and an aqueous electrolyte enclosed in a housing. The device has one or more openings, by which the generated gas is released to the environment. The device also contains means for electrically connecting said gas generating electrode and said counter electrode and for establishing a current flow between said gas generating electrode and said counter electrode for generating a predetermined quantity of gas by said gas generating electrode for release from said opening of said galvanic cell. The objective of the cell is to generate and release oxygen or hydrogen gas, thereby defining a new type of cell. The device is referred to as a "gas generator cell.
