Abstract: A method for manufacturing a semiconductor optical waveguide comprises the steps of forming a core layer having an Al content which monotonically increases from the central part thereof to the film surface, and selectively oxidizing the core layer to obtain a peripheral, oxidized region and a central, non-oxidized region acting as a waveguide. The waveguide is tapered to have a circular mode field at the distal end thereof for efficiently coupling with an optical fiber.
Abstract: A computer-aided designing of a wiring pattern of a printed circuit board includes the steps of acquiring an electrical property of a component pin of a component to be connected to a wiring pattern by referring to a database, and defining a wiring-length limit for the wiring pattern in conformity with the electrical property of the component pin.

Abstract: A portable electronic device includes a main unit which has operation switches, and an operation panel which has operation buttons that press the operation switches and which is rotatably mounted on the main unit. The operation panel can be freely attached to and detached from the main unit and can be replaced with another operation panel if needed. The ability to replace the operation panel makes it possible to have multiple types of operation panels available and to select operation panels whose operation buttons are different and mount them on the main unit.
Abstract: An apparatus for collection and holding debris in a flexible container includes a platform having a right panel, a center panel and a left panel. Abstract: The present invention relates to positive film formulations for obtaining color selection, through the use of balanced primary colors, and the method to obtain the same. Said formulations comprise an emulsion sensitive to any type of light and a photographically accepted vehicle. The thus obtained positive film formulations are suitable to establish trichromatisms and bichromatisms by employing previously balanced primary colors.
Abstract: A programmable logic LSI resolves a problem leaving some wiring resource extra upon realizing one circuit (some wiring cells are not used) and leaving some logical resource extra upon realizing another circuit (some logical cell are not used, and can realize both functions of logical resource and wiring resource with a single base cell. The base call for a programmable logic LSI which is formed by connecting a plurality of the base cells, includes a combined programmable circuit realizing a programmable logic circuit function and a programmable wiring circuit function, and a mode setting circuit for selectively making one of the programmable logic circuit function and the programmable wiring circuit function according to a mode information. Upon functioning as the programmable logic circuit, logical operation is performed with respect to an input signal input to the base cell to feed an output signal.
Abstract: A transmission system having an uninterrupted switchover function for a plurality of lines is disclosed. The aims are to prevent unnecessary switchover and to provide high quality transmission system even using low quality lines with a minimal hardware configuration of memories and a control circuit. On the transmitting side, a pulse for phase synchronization is inserted at the top of each signal frame. Such frame signals are branched to transmit on a plurality of lines. On the receiving side, an alarm or error in signals from lines is detected on a frame basis. Then, a line switchover is carried out at the unit of a frame after frame phases are synchronized. To synchronize the frame phases, elastic memories for producing variable amount of delay are used in addition to fixed-amount delay circuits. This enables to insert a sufficient amount of delay to generate required timings for detecting errors, controlling and performing a switchover etc.
Abstract: In an image drawing device and method multiple shift amounts are set for shifting, with precision finer than one pixel, the drawing position when the RGB values of each pixel are to be drawn to a frame buffer, and the image is overwritten by drawing the RGB values into the respective frame buffer locations that correspond to the multiple shift amounts. In this way a point at coordinates is written to a first pixel when drawn for the first time, is written to a second pixel when drawn for the second time, is written to a third pixel when drawn for the third time and is written to the fourth pixel when drawn the fourth time.
Abstract: A silicone coating composition comprising an alkylvinylpolysiloxane, an alkylhydrogenpolysiloxane, a platinum complex catalyst and a water-soluble polyester resin is advantageously used for the preparation of a polyester release film having good release property and improved rub-off resistance.

Abstract: A method fabricates a bottle shaped trench by providing a substrate with a substantially vertical trench therein and a collar about an upper interior portion of the trench and isotropically HCl etching a lower interior portion of the trench under the collar for expansion thereof, wherein the expanded lower interior portion has a wider cross section than that of the upper interior portion of the trench. Further, the method performs potential in-situ process integration with a gas phase doping in the same tool as the one that performed the gas phase etching process.
Abstract: An optical printer performs optical writing on a film and includes a print head with a luminous source and a plurality of filters selectively set to the luminous source by moving toward a predetermined direction with respect to the luminous source, and a moving unit for allowing the print head to be reciprocated in the predetermined direction. A transfer unit is disposed the print head to allow the filters to be moved by a regular amount, i.e., a predetermined pitch(“c” to “e”), thereby setting a desired filter to the luminous source. The transfer unit is operated to by the regular amount from one end side of the moving region of the print head. Further, a reset unit is disposed to the print head and is operated when the print head is moved more than the moving region from one end side ad of the moving region of the print head, forcing the moved filter to return to the original position.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to protection of integrated circuits from electrostatic discharges and more specifically to the use of devices formed in isolated well regions for electrostatic discharge protection. One aspect of the present invention is an ESD protection circuit that includes a first FET and a second FET. The drain of the first FET is coupled to an ESD susceptible node and the source of the first FET is coupled to a first voltage terminal. The gate and a well of the first FET are coupled together and to the drain of the second FET. The source of the second FET is coupled to the first voltage terminal. The gate of the second FET is coupled to a second voltage terminal. The second voltage terminal is connected to a voltage source that is at the first voltage when the circuit is not powered, and at a voltage above the threshold voltage of the second FET when the circuit is powered. The well in which the first FET is formed is electrically isolated from other wells in the substrate.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide an electronic device which realizes efficient cooling of heat-generation components and which can be downsized. According to the electronic device of the present invention, a rectangular-shaped heat sink that absorbs heat of the CPU and is placed in a cooling air intake channel (71) upstream of the power source unit. By blowing low-temperature cooling air that does not contain heat radiating from the power source unit onto the rectangular heat sink, the rectangular heat sink is cooled, and CPU heat dissipation is promoted. In this way, the CPU can be efficiently cooled so that the electronic device can be made smaller than conventional devices of the foregoing type.
Abstract: A linearizer is provided which is capable of scaling its circuit down and making it lightweight, of lowering power consumption and of facilitating an input-output calibration. The linearizer is so configured that a first resistor is connected in series to a second resistor, a third resistor is connected to a connecting point between the first and second resistors, an FET (Field Effect Transistor) as a variable resistance element is connected to the third resistor, an inductor is connected between the FET and a GND, and the first, second and third resistors and the FET constitute a T-type attenuator.
