  • Patent number: 6364996
Abstract: A bifurcated fan (1) which draws in atmospheric air through air/liquid contact blocks of plastic grids which are sprayed with the liquid to be treated. The blocks change position in order to be sprayed on both front surfaces alternatively and thus remain clean. The liquid evaporates in the contact blocks and the concentrate is dehydrated in a secondary laminar evaporation base. The arrangement into converging sectors provides a geometry with minimal aerodynamic losses in a liquid with organic matter. The device includes a central tank which facilitates an aerobic biopurification process aided by the oxygenation in the contact blocks. Thermal exchanges may be included at the air inlet, using residual energy, particularly from thermal engines to which it provides refrigeration and cleaning of exhaust gases.

  • Patent number: 6366560
Abstract: A route selection service control system for selecting an optimum one of routes connecting an originating-side terminal to each of terminals owned by an identical subscriber and connected to respective communication networks operated by different telecommunication carriers. On receiving the identification number of a terminating-side subscriber, a reading unit refers to terminal type storing unit and reads out the terminal types and terminal numbers of a plurality of terminating-side terminals associated with the identification number. A position information acquiring unit acquires the current positions of the terminating-side terminals. A distance calculating unit calculates the distance between the position of an originating-side terminal and the current position of each of the terminating-side terminals.

  • Patent number: 6363255
Abstract: A mobile communications system having a mechanism to reduce the control message traffic in paging and location updating operations. Each mobile station receives from the nearest base station a notification message containing its base station ID. A location change counting unit detects a change in the mobile location by comparing two consecutive instances of the base station ID. It counts and records such location changes, together with the two base station IDs involved in each change. Based on the location change count values, a personal location area (PLA) setting unit defines personal location areas by grouping associated cells into one area. A PLA memory stores the defined personal location areas and relevant base station IDs. Each time a new base station ID is detected, a location change detector tests whether the presently registered personal location area is still valid. If it is no longer valid, a location registration unit searches the PLA memory for a new relevant personal location area.

  • Patent number: 6362056
Abstract: A method for forming depleted conductor regions in MOSFET arrays includes the steps of preparing a substrate, forming a conductor layer on the substrate, implanting a dopant species into the conductor layer, masking portions of the doped conductor layer, and counterdoping unmasked portions of the doped conductor layer to form said depleted conductor regions on the substrate. This method provides an alternative to dual gate oxide for MOSFETS wherein low voltage regions at doped layers are used for support devices and high voltage regions at counterdoped portions are used for memory arrays such as DRAM, EDRAM, SRAM and NVRAM. This method is also applicable for all chips requiring high and low voltage integral device operation.

  • Patent number: 6362947
Abstract: A multilayer ceramic capacitor includes a substantially cuboid-shaped laminated body formed with alternately stacked conductive layers and ceramic dielectric layers, and a pair of external electrodes respectively disposed at opposite end portions of the laminated body. The conductive layers are corrugated, and each of the conductive layers has a nonuniform and spatially varying thickness. Thus the surface area of the conductive layers is substantially increased, which in turn results in the increment of the electrostatic capacitance of the multilayer ceramic capacitor. Further, interrupted regions having the layer thickness of zero are formed on the conductive layer and since the boundary portions are pointed toward neighboring conductive layers, a strong electric field is formed threat. Accordingly, the electrostatic capacitance becomes increased.

  • Patent number: 6359895
Abstract: The inside of a managed side device managed by a manager of a managing device has a tree-structure consisting of points #1 to #3 of the first to third layers. When a failure occurs, at the point #3 of the bottom layer, loss priority is allocated to a PDU and is transmitted to the point #2 in a higher order. When the number of PDUs is greater than the threshold of the number of alarms, at the point #2 a buffer is prevented from overflowing by instructing a lower order point not to transmit a PDU, or by eliminating PDUs with loss priority lower than the threshold of loss priority. By executing these processes at each point, congestion due to the concentration of PDUs can be locally processed.

  • Patent number: 6359934
Abstract: Each modulation level estimating unit calculates mean or variance of a carrier wave power for received signals to which no modulation level information is added when being transmitted, and calculates the difference between the calculated mean or variance and a mean or variance at each modulation level, as one of likelihood function values &Lgr;ML#1 through &Lgr;ML#X of each modulation level. A maximum likelihood function value selector selects the modulation level corresponding to the likelihood function value having the maximum likelihood value from among the likelihood function values, and makes a data selector select as a demodulation signal the output of a modulation level demodulating unit, which corresponds to the selected modulation level.

  • Patent number: 6357774
Abstract: A kit for converting a conventional wheelchair into an obstacle-mounting wheelchair, allowing an occupant to glide over obstacles such as sidewalk curbs. After removal of the large rear wheels and smaller front wheels of a conventional wheelchair, a pair of triangular belted support members are fitted to the frame of the wheelchair such that the frame hangs in a pendulum arrangement from the support members. The support members each have a rubber belt extending around their periphery on bearing mounts, and the wheelchair is propelled by an occupant grasping a portion of the two belts at the front of the support members and moving the belts downward. A pair of guide members are attached through spring-biased axles to a forward position on the wheelchair frame or a forward position on the support members. The guide members extend in an upward forward orientation, and rotate against bias when the front of the wheelchair encounters a curb or other obstacle.

  • Patent number: 6359789
Abstract: A heterogeneous functions-integrated communication device which is improved in the efficiency of optical connector connection/disconnection work and which enables non-redundant arrangement without the need to increase the size of the device. Those DS3 interface connectors of a customer interface section which are required only in the non-redundant arrangement are mounted on an expansion shelf, whereby the size of a shelf body is reduced and, in the case of redundant arrangement, the expansion shelf may be detached. Optical fibers can be introduced at a front side of the device from obliquely below to plug-in units, so that the optical fibers can be connected/disconnected without the need to pull out the plug-in units.
