  • Patent number: 6344606
Abstract: A tone generation device includes a computation unit which consists of multiple computation devices, a sheet music data analysis unit which reads data from a sheet music data holding unit and a waveform data holding unit and computes the sum total of the amount of processing based on this data. The tone generation device further includes a computation processing allocation instruction unit, a computation unit processing procedure holding unit and a processing routine holding unit. Based on the computed sum total of the amount of processing, the computation unit processing allocation instruction unit determines the amount of processing for each computation device so that it is an amount of processing that matches the capacity of each computation device, and sets a processing procedure in accordance with the determined amounts of processing. The set processing procedure is held in the computation unit processing procedure holding unit.

  • Patent number: 6345092
Abstract: Outgoing trunks of a switch are divided into reserved trunks and non-reserved trunks. A controller seizes reserved trunks equally for calls from subscriber terminals regardless of whether a call is a reserved call or a non-reserved call in an uncongested condition in which rate of reserved-trunk utilization is low and seizes reserved trunks preferentially for reserved calls in a congested condition in which rate of reserved-trunk utilization is high.

  • Patent number: 6345120
Abstract: An image processing system which efficiently generates a desired special effect with a simple circuit. In order to add special effects to a given source picture, a target area specifying unit first specifies a target area, as part of the given source picture, which is to be subjected to a special effect generation process. The source image is coded by an image data coding unit, and the resultant coded data is then modified by a target data relocation unit, Here, part of the coded data, or target data in the target area, is extracted and relocated from its original field to a different field of the coded data. An image data transmission unit transmits the coded bitstream which contains the relocated target data. At the receiving ends, a target data extraction unit extracts the target data from the received coded bitstream, which is then saved into a target data storage unit.

  • Patent number: 6344893
Abstract: A super-resolving imaging apparatus employs diffractive optical elements placed on the imaging lens. This element, and the use of a modified Scheimpflug arrangement allow the conversion of degrees of freedom in one axis of a field of view to a larger degree of freedom in another axis in order to obtain a high resolution image with a wide depth of focus and large field of view. Replicas created by the diffractive elements are mutually shifted by subpixel amounts, and are combined using a Gabor transform, which is facilitated by a spatial mask placed over the detector array. The apparatus is suitable for performing distance estimation on an object within the field of view.

  • Patent number: 6343221
Abstract: A digital portable telephone device includes a receiver section which receives a signal within one of an analog receiving frequency band and a digital receiving frequency band. A received signal is converted into one of a digital-band first intermediate-frequency signal and an analog-band first intermediate-frequency signal by using a first local signal. A transmitter section transmits a signal within one of an analog transmitting frequency band and a digital transmitting frequency band, wherein a modulation signal is generated by using the first local signal. A radio-frequency local signal generating section generates the first local signal within one of a digital local signal frequency band and an analog local signal frequency band, and supplies the first local signal to one of the receiver section and the transmitter section.

  • Patent number: 6343068
Abstract: The present invention relates to a guard apparatus for avoiding the malfunction of a communication apparatus due to an error in the received data in the specific location of a frame on the receiving side of an optical communication system using a SONET/SDH network. If a B2 error, a frame pattern error or an out-of-frame is detected for a received frame, this guard apparatus stops the operation for tri-stage protection for the data of the K1 and K2 bytes, and outputs data outputted for a received frame received one frame before the above-mentioned received frame. If these errors are not detected, the guard apparatus selects and outputs the non-protected data of the K1 and K2 bytes in the above-mentioned received frame. Thus, the extraction of data with an error due to an optical degradation can be avoided and thereby the malfunction of a communication apparatus in an optical communication system can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 6338493
Abstract: An apparatus that is convertible between walker and a wheelchair has one pair of wheels that are continually engaged with the ground and a second pair of wheels that are movable from a first position out of engagement or disengaged with the ground, in which the apparatus is used as a walker, to a second position into engagement with the ground, in which the apparatus is used as a wheelchair. The movable wheels are controllable by the operator through the use of handle members connected such wheels. The handle members rotate the wheels into and out of engagement with the ground along a path that is at an angle from the vertical, thereby assuring disengagement of the wheels from the ground.

  • Patent number: 6339790
Abstract: A method and system for controlling data delivery and reception, which alleviate the processing workloads imposed on management systems and reduce the hardware and software resources required in management systems. Each time a status message arrives from network subsystems, a data storage unit in a management system stores the received information, together with a reception timestamp. At regular intervals, or on an on-demand basis, a data requesting unit in a terminal station issues a data delivery request message to the management system, including a reception time specification to qualify the data records to be delivered. In response to the request, a data retrieval unit in the management system searches its local data storage to extract the requested data records whose reception timestamps are not earlier than the given reception time specification. The data records found are then supplied to a data transmission unit.
