  • Patent number: 7091574
Abstract: A voltage island is disclosed. The voltage island comprises a physical domain and a lower voltage supply rail within the physical domain. The voltage island also includes an upper voltage supply rail within the physical domain. The physical domain is coupled to the appropriate voltage supply rail to ensure reverse biased junctions. Accordingly, a system in accordance with the present invention allows circuit placements associated with multiple voltage islands within a common circuit row or even adjacent circuit rows to be utilized in which the area effectiveness is greatly improved. The use of common Nwell biasing connected to the higher power supply ensures no forward biased junctions and allows butted circuit placement in cases where the other circuit physical constraints permit. This configuration will minimize the density loss associated multiple voltage island implementations.

  • Patent number: 7088609
Abstract: A method and system for providing a magnetic element that can be used in a magnetic memory is disclosed. The magnetic element includes pinned, spacer, free, and spin barrier layers. The spacer layer is nonmagnetic and resides between the pinned and free layers. The free layer can be switched using spin transfer when a write current is passed through the magnetic element. The free layer resides between the spacer layer and the spin barrier layer. The spin barrier layer is configured to reduce an outer surface contribution to a damping constant of the free layer. In one aspect, the spin barrier layer has a high areal resistance and may substantially eliminate spin pumping induced damping. In another aspect, the magnetic element also includes a spin accumulation layer between the spin barrier and free layers. The spin accumulation layer has a high conductivity, preferably being metallic, and may have a long spin diffusion length.

  • Patent number: 7085744
Abstract: A method and system for conducting a transaction over a network is disclosed. The network includes a first system and a second system. The method and system comprise initiating a transaction, comparing a value of the first system with a value of the second system and continuing the transaction based on the comparison. Through the use of the present invention, a client can download for-fee files as often as necessary in spite of potential lost connections. Consequently, the client can download files he or she has paid for with the assurance that he or she will pay just once because payment is not for the content, but for an encryption key that is capable of being utilized by the client system to subsequently decrypt the downloaded file.

  • Patent number: 7085751
Abstract: A query processing system having a data manager, and a query manager also includes a buffer. The query manager calls the data manager to access data based on a query. Where there is no predicate check or consumption operation on the record accessed, the data manager will notionally return the record to the query manager. However, the data manager accomplishes the return by writing the relevant portions of the record to a buffer. The data manager maintains stabilization of the page containing the record while the buffer is being written to. The data manager continues to access records on the stabilized page and to write such records to the buffer where appropriate. The query manager retrieves the records from the buffer after the data manager has completed its operation resulting from the query manager call.

  • Patent number: 7085436
Abstract: Methods and systems for image and video enhancement and data-loss recovery using wavelet transforms are disclosed. A wavelet transformed image is defined as multiple sections, where one section is the original image, and coefficients are estimated for each other section using information obtained from that section. An inverse wavelet transform on the wavelet transformed image obtains an enlarged image. For obtaining a high resolution video frame, one section is the original video frame, and coefficients are estimated for each other section using information from a lower level wavelet transform of a corresponding section of a past or future frame of the video sequence. For recovery of data lost from transmitted original data, the locality of the lost data is determined in lower and higher levels of a wavelet transform tree, and information at the locality in the lower and higher levels is used to estimate the lost data.

  • Patent number: 7082056
Abstract: A FLASH memory has an array of FLASH cells that each store N multiple bits of information as charge stored on a floating gate. Reference voltages or currents are generated for each boundary between the 2N states or levels and for an upper limit and a lower limit reference for each state. A selected bit line driven by a selected FLASH cell generates a sense node that is compared to a full range of 3*2N?1 comparators in parallel. The compare results are decoded to determine which state is read from the selected FLASH cell. An in-range signal is activated when the sense node is between the upper and lower limit references. The target programming count or programming pulses is adjusted during calibration to sense in the middle of the upper and lower limit references. Margin between references is adjusted by calibration codes that select currents for summing.

  • Patent number: 7082455
Abstract: A content management system is provided including a server computer and a client computer. The server includes a data repository and a stored procedure. The disclosed methodology provides a way of handling parameter passing of structured data for stored procedures in the system. The system is capable of both encoding data into a structured data format and decoding data from the structured data format. The structured data format employs a binary large object (BLOB) and character large object (CLOB) to achieve handling of fixed length binary data and variable length character data. Advantageously, the stored procedure interface need not be rewritten and customized for each stored procedure in the server.

  • Patent number: 7080074
Abstract: According to the method, apparatus, and computer readable medium of the present invention, a scan is performed by accessing all rows of a table in a relational database, evaluating each row to determine whether the row satifies a set of predicates of a database query, and returning the row if it satisfies the set of predicates. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, all rows are evaluated regardless of current locks. The scan is continued if the row does not satisfy the set of predicates regardless of the current lock on the row. The locking semantics according to the invention has the advantage that it completely removes the problem of lock contention on the rows that do not satisfy statement predicates.
