  • Patent number: 4378750
Abstract: A tubular float for use in a water ski tow device. The float has a hollow shaft pulley in one end thereof and a slot in the other end thereof. A hitch rope is attached to the transom of the boat at locations displaced from the central axis of the boat. The hitch rope is roved through the pulley. A tow rope is inserted through the slot and passed along the tubular body of the float through the hollow shaft of the pulley back along the hollow body of the float through the slot from an opposite direction and then tied or spliced to the main length of the tow rope to form a tow structure not susceptible to failure in the event of structural damage to the float.

  • Patent number: 4375817
Abstract: A body implantable ventricular cardioverter. Circuitry is provided which detects the onset of a malignant ventricular tachyarrhythmia and provides a cardioverting signal in response thereto. The cardioverting signal has an energy level that is high relative to the pacing threshold but below that necessary for defibrillation. In this manner, a ventricular tachyarrhythmia can be cardioverted before the onset of fibrillation and at a lower energy than required for defibrillation. Dependent on such factors as patient thresholds, the tissue/electrode interface and the electrode system employed, the energy level of the cardioverting signal is from 5 millijoules to 15 joules. The system can be configured such that increasingly malignant tachyarrhythmias result in higher energy cardioverting signals, including signals capable of defibrillation.

  • Patent number: 4375016
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a vent adapter for an ear tip coupling for use with a modular "In The Ear" hearing aid. The ear tip has a bulbous distal tip portion with a sound delivering aperture and a plurality of vent apertures therein. In the assembly, the sound aperture of the ear tip is connected to a sound tube which is part of an adapter which seals the upper portion of the tip. The sound tube projects through the adapter and a separate vent tube also projects through the adapter to provide venting from the other apertures through the ear tip coupler and the vent tube. The vented ear tip and vent adapter can be formed in a number of alternative configurations for varying situations.

  • Patent number: 4374527
Abstract: An improved body stimulation lead wherein the electrode is isolated from extraneous forces imparted to the lead body. In a preferred embodiment, a plurality of lobes are formed in the lead body, the lobes being engageable with body tissue to maintain the position of the electrode and being deformable in response to extraneous forces to minimize the influence of such forces on the position of the electrode. In addition, the lead conductor is formed as a space-wound coil which provides additional stress relief. A stylet is insertable within the coil to temporarily straighten the lobes and to provide sufficient stability to the lead body for placement of the lead.

  • Patent number: 4370877
Abstract: Rolling mill rolls having open grooves comprising active and relatively non-active portions are provided wherein at least two such grooves are overlapped by their relatively non-active portions. Also disclosed are processes for feeding such rolls, a stand connecting such rolls and a universal rolling mill having stands incorporating such rolls.

  • Patent number: 4371200
Abstract: A latch for a barbed wire gate. A swinging hooked latch arm is operated by a novel sliding cam arrangement to effect closure of the latch. A pawl holds the latch arm in the closed position around the gate post. Pulling the gate post further toward the latch releases the pawl permitting spring means to swing the latch arm to the open position.

  • Patent number: 4369791
Abstract: A body implantable electrical stimulator including stimulation impulse developing circuitry and an output system, including active and indifferent electrodes, for delivering the impulses to stimulate a desired body site. The indifferent electrode is formed as an annular member having a regular electrode-forming surface. The annular member may be electrically closed or open, the distal end being insulated in the latter case. In a preferred embodiment, the impulse developing circuitry is housed in an encapsulant and the annular member is partially imbedded in the encapsulant at the periphery of the housing. Two or more annular members may be employed in a multi-channel device to provide isolation between channels.
