  • Patent number: 4089027
Abstract: In an electronic computer, an arrangement for retrieving by means of search key words, information records on a record carrier having index key words associated with the records. The search key word is compared in succession with the index key words for identifying the position of the index key word on the carrier. The position of the index key word on the carrier enables the identification of the location of the record associated with the search keyword. The location so identified is used for accessing the information record associated with the search key word.

  • Patent number: 4086428
Abstract: In a two-wire, full duplex data transmission system a circuit arrangement is described for carrying out an automatic adjustment of the value of the current flowing from the transmitter in a given station to a receiver therein relative to the value of the current supplied to that receiver from another station over a transmission line. A balancing circuit receives the station transmitter current and divides it into a plurality of sub-currents which are subsequently recombined and conducted to the station's receiver. The station transmitter current and the received current values are compared, and a voltage proportional to the difference is produced. That voltage is utilized by a regulating stage to produce a number of regulating voltages corresponding to the number of sub-current carrying branches in the balancing circuit for regulating the amplification of the sub-currents.

  • Patent number: 4084748
Abstract: A system for sensing the flow of an electrically conductive liquid through a nozzle. The nozzle represents one side of an electrical sensing circuit. A conductive probe is positioned near the nozzle, so that it extends into the spray. The probe represents the second side of the electrical sensing circuit. The probe is mounted on a clamp positioned on the inside of a protective enclosure. The probe is the bottom of the enclosure. When liquid sprays from the nozzle, the sensing circuit is closed. A switch responds to this by illuminating an indicator lamp. If the liquid flow ceases, the signal circuit is opened, and the switch signals this occurrence. The switch is a transistor that operates a light emitting diode.

  • Patent number: 4084022
Abstract: A method for tin plating printed boards is disclosed wherein faulty bonding is prevented by masking the printed boards with a heat and solder resistant coating material. This coating material is selectively applied to the printed boards in those areas where misbonding due to gap bridging and bubble formation is most likely to occur. For example, a small amount of coating material may be applied across conductor paths between two adjacent areas. In addition, the coating material may be evenly distributed in a grid like fashion throughout the area of the printed boards. Where the tin plating process is a wave soldering process, the coating material may be applied in the direction of conveyance of the printed board in order to avoid interference with the discharge of the tin.

  • Patent number: 4083445
Abstract: A mechanism for reversing the movement of an inked ribbon in an office printing machine or the like comprising first and second rotors each for effecting the rotation of one of two ribbon spools on which the ribbon is mounted and a driving element for alternately imparting a driving force to one of the rotors. The driving element is alternately selectively coupled to one of the two rotors to effect the reversal of the movement of the ribbon. A reversing member is shiftable between a first position wherein the driving element is coupled to the first rotor and a second position wherein the driving element is coupled to the second rotor. The reversing member is resiliently coupled to the driving element for rotational movement therewith. The reversing member is maintained in one of the two positions and is permitted to shift to the other of the two positions in response to the application of a predetermined torque.

  • Patent number: 4081789
Abstract: Apparatus is described for monitoring and, if necessary, correcting the polarity of a transmitted data signal. Syndrome signals are produced in accordance with the error pattern of the transmitted data signal. Coincidences between block timing pulses and the syndrome signal and block timing pulses and an inverted syndrome signal are counted, and when the respective counts reach predetermined levels counted output signals are produced. A polarity signal indicating proper or improper data signal polarity is produced from the counted output signals. The polarity of the transmitted data signal is adjusted in accordance with the value of the polarity signal.

  • Patent number: 4081619
Abstract: A switching arrangement by which a telecommunication subscriber station selection unit is connected into the central office line is described. The selection unit involved is of the key-operated type wherein key actuation produces a specific surge current corresponding to the specific key depressed. Semiconductor elements form impulse contacts which are operated by a key-controlled pulse generator. A bistable relay is provided for disabling the station's speech circuit during the dialing phase, and at the same time maintains a transmission and feeder circuit, of which the selection unit forms a part and which is completed by actuation of a key. The operation of the bistable relay is influenced via a parallel circuit which offers a high impedance to the transmission and feeder circuit, so that the bistable relay can be rendered inoperative if it is erroneously in an operative state. Depression of a key is required to close the transmitter and feeder circuit, and when this occurs, i.e.
