Abstract: An adaptive baseband processing system having a scalable architecture to allow scaling to support adaptive transmission and receive, at different granularity, channel vs. subchannel, for different number of antennas and/or users, including their components, are described herein. In various embodiments, the components include an adaptive antenna signal (AAS) coupled to a front-end processor, a back-end processor, or combinations thereof.
Abstract: Embodiments of methods and apparatus for monitoring a backhaul channel associated with a femto access point (FAP) are disclosed. There is disclosed a method comprising: transmitting, by an FAP over a backhaul channel to a gateway associated with a first network, a plurality of requests, wherein individual requests of the plurality of requests are transmitted periodically and the backhaul channel comprises a second network that is different from the first network; and receiving, by the FAP from the gateway over the backhaul channel, one or more responses indicating an operational state of the backhaul channel, wherein the one or more responses are received in response to a corresponding one or more requests of the plurality of requests. Additional variants and embodiments are also disclosed.
Abstract: A networking processor is formed with selected ones of one or more system interfaces, one or more network/intermediate interfaces, a plurality of data link sub-layer control/processing blocks, and a plurality of physical sub-layer coders/decoders and processing units. The elements are provisioned in a combinatorially selectable manner, enabling the single networking processor to be able to selectively facilitate data trafficking in accordance with a selected one of a plurality of protocols. The protocols include at least one each a datacom and a telecom protocol. Accordingly, the network processor supports data traffics spanning local, regional and wide area networks. In one embodiment, the traffic data may be framed or streaming data being transmitted/received in accordance with a selected one of a plurality frame based protocols and a plurality of variants of a synchronous protocol. The frame based protocols may also be frame based protocols encapsulated with the synchronous protocol.
Abstract: Embodiments herein provide polishing pads that produce high post-polish planarity, such as on a wafer substrate or other substrates. Exemplary pads include a bulk matrix and embedded polymer particles. Pads according to embodiments herein may be used to remove material over a composite substrate, comprised of two or more different materials, or a substrate comprised of a single material.
Abstract: A manageability engine of a processor based device and a host theft-deterrence agent of the processor based device, jointly implement a theft-deterrence protocol with a theft-deterrence service, remotely disposed from the processor based device, to deter theft of the processor based device. The host theft-deterrence agent is configured to operate in a processor operated application execution environment of the processor based device, and the manageability engine is configured to operate outside the application execution environment.

Abstract: A processing system may include a first processing unit for a legacy partition and a second processing unit for a sequestered partition. In one embodiment, a first interrupt handler in the legacy partition may support power management for the first processing unit. A second interrupt handler in the sequestered partition may cause the sequestered partition to take control of power management hardware in the processing system when the legacy partition enters reduced power mode. For example, the second interrupt handler may program the power management hardware to route interrupts to the second processing unit. The sequestered partition may relinquish control of power management hardware to the legacy partition when the legacy partition exits reduced power mode. A power policy manager in the sequestered partition may support features such as wake for incoming communications, wake to record, etc. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract: In a bearing arrangement for a pivot bearing (7, 7?) of a roll, on which the conveyor belt (8) revolves, bearing receiving regions (11, 12) of lateral bearing carriers (6) are configured such that they enclose the pivot bearings (7, 7?) only partially and do not jut into the orbit of the conveyor belt (8), wherein the pivot bearings (7, 7?) are held in the bearing receiving regions (11, 12) thereof by the revolving conveyor belt (8).
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a virtual multicarrier design for orthogonal frequency division multiple access communications. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatuses, articles, and removable storage devices for pre-boot recovery of a locked computer system. In one instance, the method includes determining on pre-boot whether a removable storage device is attached to a computer system, determining whether the computer system is in a locked state and, if the removable storage device is detected, transferring control to a pre-boot authentication module (PBA) stored on the removable storage device to interact with a manageability engine to restore the computer system from the locked state to an unlocked state. If the removable storage device is not detected, the computer system shuts down if the system is determined to be in the locked state and no other PBA is detected. The computer system comprises a host operating environment and a manageability engine that operates independent of the host operating environment. Other embodiments may also be described and claimed.
Abstract: An acoustic wave device operable as a piston mode wave guide includes electrodes forming an interdigital transducer on a surface of the piezoelectric substrate, wherein each of the plurality of electrodes is defined as having a transversely extending center region and transversely opposing edge regions for guiding an acoustic wave longitudinally through the transducer. A Silicon Oxide overcoat covers the transducer and a Silicon Nitride layer covers the Silicon Oxide overcoat within only the center and edge regions. The thickness of the Silicon Nitride layer is sufficient for providing a frequency modification to the acoustic wave within the center region and is optimized with a positioning of a Titanium strip within each of the opposing edge regions. The Titanium strip reduces the acoustic wave velocity within the edge regions with the velocity in the edge regions being less than the wave velocity within the transducer center region.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe methods, computer-readable media and system configurations for stochastic power management of one or more computer systems. A method may include ascertaining a workload of a plurality of computer systems (e.g., a data center). Additionally or alternatively, a method may include initiating, by a control module operated by a processor of a first of the plurality of computer systems, a stochastic power management process to manage power consumption of the first of the plurality of computer systems. The stochastic power management process may be conditionally initiated based at least in part on the ascertained workload of the plurality of computer systems. The stochastic power management process may include a plurality of virtual machine management actions having corresponding probabilities being taken, one or more of which may result in power savings. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a bone dilator designed for treating compression fracture of vertebral body, and fractures of cancellous bones at other sites. The bone dilator comprises a head portion, a neck portion, a connecting tube, a handle and a rotary hilt. The head portion embodies different shapes for use at different locations. When the rotary hilt is rotated clockwise and the pull rod is pulled backwards, the upper and the lower parts of the head portion keep parallel or at a predetermined angle during expanding. When the rotary hilt is rotated counterclockwise and the pull rod is pushed forwards, the head portion and the neck portion completely join together, the distal end of the pull rod and the bar stays are completely or partially retracted in grooves inside the head portion and the neck portion.
