  • Patent number: 4516788
Abstract: Device for adjusting seating position of an automotive vehicle seat by using the change of the pressure of a working gas is so designed that the working gas is propelled using a pressure pump of a pneumatic vehicle-height-adjusting device without an additional pump used exclusively for pressurizing the working gas. Therefore, the working portion of the seating position adjusting device is connected to a working gas passage of the vehicle height adjusting device via a working gas supply passage. The working gas supply passage is provided with a control valve so that introduction of the working gas is controlled. The working portion is further provided with an exhaust valve so as to control the exhaust operation of the working gas from the working portion.

  • Patent number: 4517059
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for electrolytic processing of a metal surface which, in a preferred embodiment, is anodization of an aluminum or aluminum alloy surface. An apparatus and method is provided which automatically senses the process voltage applied to the surface to be anodized and adjusts the duration of anodizing current pulses accordingly. Direct current anodizing pulses are interrupted by non-anodizing pulses which may be either zero current or reverse current pulses. The ratio of anodizing to non-anodizing pulse power is varied during anodizing such that the anodizing to non-anodizing time power ratio is reduced. In a preferred embodiment, a microprocessor follows the process voltage necessary to maintain a constant current flow to the metal surface and reduces the anodizing to non-anodizing time power ratio in a predetermined manner.

  • Patent number: 4516610
Abstract: An air guide member has therein an air guide opening and a slit through which the weft thread passes out of the opening. The opening has an inwardly projected land portion with first and second peripheral sides and includes an air induction section directly connected to the slit and a weft guiding section connected through the air induction section to the slit. The first peripheral side bounds partially the air induction section, while, the second peripheral side bounds partially the weft guiding section. An auxiliary nozzle is associated with one of the air guide members and has an air jet opening exposed to the air induction section so that the air jet from the opening advances toward the weft guiding section after passing through the air induction section. The opening is inclined toward the weft picking direction by a given angle with respect to the direction.

  • Patent number: 4517614
Abstract: A mechanism for withdrawing magnetic recording tape from a tape carrier (e.g. a cartridge) is disclosed. A boom member supports at least two levers. In the at rest (unengaged) position, rollers, supported by the levers, are positioned in a recess in the tape cartridge and are positioned interior of the tape. When activated, the boom member pivots about its pivot point, thus moving the levers attached to it. The levers move generally away from the cartridge and the rollers attached to the levers engage the tape and pull tape out of the cartridge. The roller supporting ends of the levers engage a lever guide member in such a fashion that the at least two levers move apart. In this manner, a suitable transducer mounted adjacent the lever guide member, can have tape wrapped around itself (less than 360.degree.) for subsequent recording on or playback from the tape.

  • Patent number: 4516422
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing a rack for a variable ratio rack and pinion steering gear, having a preforming process for preparing a rack blank having a plurality of teeth which are formed to a shape corresponding approximately to the shape desired in the finished rack and a finishing process for converting the teeth to the finished shape by cold forming in a die having a shape which is the exact counterpart of the finished shape, the preformed rack teeth are shaped to have top lands which are level with those in the finished shape and bottom lands that are deeper than those of same. The rack teeth in the preformed shape are all wider at the top areas than in the finished shape, and the ratio of the widths at the root areas of the rack teeth in the preformed shape to those in the finished shape varies in proportion to the variation of the steering ratio such that a rack tooth for a higher steering ratio is given the above-mentioned ratio that is larger.

  • Patent number: 4515738
Abstract: A method of monitoring the production of extruded composite profiles by an extrusion head fed by a plurality of worm extruders in which, immediately after the profile has been extruded, it is monitored by spacing measurement devices which determine the spacing between the devices and the profile. The measured spacing is then transmitted to a regulator or governor and compared with a pre-selected value. The governor or regulator controls the worm speed of the individual extruders and, if the measured value differs from the pre-selected value, alters the worm speed of one or more of the individual extruders until the measured value is the same as the pre-selected value.

  • Patent number: 4514868
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a bathtub having a bottom wall, a pair of sidewalls and opposed first and second end walls integrally formed with the bottom wall, the second end wall being angularly inclined outwardly to define an abutment surface against which a person lying in the tub may rest, and water inlet means for filling the tub with a mixture of hot and cold water. According to the invention, the water inlet means extends through one of the sidewalls and is adapted to discharge a flow of hot and cold water along the one sidewall in a direction towards the second end wall so as to impart to the water a circulatory movement as it fills the tub and to thereby uniformly mix the hot and cold water and provide a uniform water mixture having a substantially constant temperature.
