  • Patent number: 7191890
Abstract: An escalator or moving walkway with a handrail and a handrail entryway has a finger contact protection cover, wherein the finger contact protection cover includes corrugated bristles. The corrugated bristles allow the gap between the handrail and the entryway to be minimized. The bristle construction also provides improved tactile feedback when a user's hand contacts the bristles, allowing the hand to be more quickly removed from the handrail and contact with the bristles, avoiding potential injury.

  • Patent number: 7189152
Abstract: A height adjustment mechanism for varying the positioning of a rotating tool on a haft of a machine tool, such as a portable power tool, is in the form of a coupler between the blade and tool arbor. A head of the coupler accepts the tool and connects with a tool drive, the depth of the connection defining the working height or position of the tool. A pair of inter-engaged flanges are mounted upon the shaft of the coupler head, and apply forces to the coupler head and tool drive to maintain the connection depth therebetween and to retain the tool in position. A jam nut further maintains the relative orientation of the flanges.

  • Patent number: 7181814
Abstract: A burial casket has a base portion with a plurality of locking element openings and a top having a plurality of locking elements depending downwardly. A hanger-supporting member is affixed to a lower surface of the top rim of said base, and has a plurality of locking element openings aligned with the locking element openings. Opposed flanges of hangers are disposed in recesses of the hangar-supporting member. A locking bar extends through the hangers. When the top is closed, each locking element extends through one of the locking element openings and through one of the aligned locking element openings. The locking bar engages the plurality of locking elements to restrain the top in closed position. A decorative material-supporting member depends downwardly from the hanger-supporting member.

  • Patent number: 7178810
Abstract: A closure seal for doors, hatches and the like comprising a pneumatically inflatable sealing element of generally known configuration housed in a specially constructed channel-shaped retainer. The sealing element comprises a flat, relatively stiff base portion of predetermined width and a flexible portion comprising spaced apart side walls, joined with the base, and an outer wall joining with the side walls to form a hollow expandable section. The base forms shoulders where it joins with the side walls. A retaining channel, formed of sheet metal and of generally U-shaped cross section, receives the sealing element and is formed with longitudinally spaced apart, opposed, inwardly projecting elements forming longitudinally spaced apart constrictions of slightly less width than the base of the sealing element.

  • Patent number: 7171906
Abstract: A friction-drive carriage type conveyor includes a carriage 1 so supported as to run in a running direction along a track, which includes a linear path and a turning path 18. The carriage 1 has a frictional surface 6a continuing linearly along its whole length. The conveyor is fitted with first friction drive rollers 15 for contact with the frictional surface 6a, which are positioned near the linear path. The conveyor is also fitted with second friction drive rollers 15A–15C for driving the carriage 1 smoothly and reliably even along the turning path 18. The second friction drive rollers 15A–15C are spaced at intervals along the turning path 18, which are shorter than the frictional surface 6a. The second friction drive rollers 15A–15C are so supported that each of them can move between an advance limit position and a retraction limit position. The advance limit position is on the locus described by the frictional surface 6a when the carriage 1 passes along the turning path 18.

  • Patent number: 7152532
Abstract: A low-speed projectile is designed for forming relatively large apertures in walls against which the projectile is fired. The projectile includes a penetrator core having a cavity containing an explosive charge activated by a time delay fuse circuit. The time delay is chosen to cause explosive ignition when the cavity and explosive is within the wall to be pierced. The construction of the projectile directs the explosive impulse radially, creating a hole in the wall considerably larger than the outside diameter of the penetrator's core. A preferred application is a projectile for a shoulder-fired weapon.

  • Patent number: 7128189
Abstract: A tripping device for engaging an elevator lift cage safety brake has actuating levers arranged at a rotary axle for engaging safety brake wedges of the safety braking device. Each actuating lever has a longitudinal slot matched to the diameter of the rotary axle, wherein the actuating lever is freely movable in the direction of the rotary axle and in the direction of the length of the actuating lever. A torsion spring fixes the actuating lever about the rotary axle. One spring end presses the actuating lever downwardly, wherein the movement of the actuating lever is limited by a lower abutment. The other spring end is detachably connected to a support. An upper abutment limits the movement of the actuating lever upwardly. The lower abutment and the upper abutment are each held at a respective end of a T-shaped shackle, wherein the shackle is fixedly connected to the rotary axle.

  • Patent number: 7127997
Abstract: The present invention relates to a friction drive conveyor including carriers 1, which can be propelled along a track by frictional wheels 30 fitted along the track. Each frictional wheel 30 can be driven by a brakeless motor 29. A sensor 32 senses whether each frictional wheel 30 is in contact with any one frictional surface 15 of the carriers 1. The track includes a section along which the frictional wheels 30 are supported at regular intervals equal to or slightly shorter than the total length L of the frictional surfaces 15 on each side of each carrier 1. On the basis of a signal output from each sensor 32, a controller 24 so controls the associated brakeless motor 29 as to start rotating the associated frictional wheel 30 in contact with any one frictional surface 15 when the forward next wheel 30 gets free of the frictional surfaces 15, and as to stop driving the frictional wheel 30 having got free of the frictional surfaces 15.

  • Patent number: 7127762
Abstract: An inflatable product has a socket disposed in a wall of an inflatable body and extending into an interior of the inflatable body. A pump is slidably disposed in the socket, and is slidable from a retracted position to an extended position. The retracted position defines an insertion limit of the pump into the socket, and the extended position defines a withdrawal limit of the pump from the socket. The pump is operable to inflate the inflatable body when in the extended position. The pump includes a power source connected to a fan, operable to inflate the inflatable body. The pump includes a switch operable to activate the fan when in a closed position. The switch is in an the closed position when the pump is in the extended position, and in an open position when the pump is in the retracted position. The pump includes an air intake in fluid communication with ambient air when the pump is in the extended position, and the air intake is sealed from the ambient air when the pump is in the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 7108401
Abstract: A specialized lighting fixture, such as a framing projector provided with a plurality of adjustable framing shutters, is modified to incorporate a pair of locking rings, surrounding the body of the lighting fixture and positioned on opposite sides of outwardly projecting portions of the framing shutters. After initial adjustment of the framing shutters has been completed, the locking rings are tightly compressed together, as by locking screws positioned between adjacent pairs of framing shutters, to lock the shutters in position against unintended dislodgment. For lighting fixtures of non-uniform shape, the locking rings may be made in two parts, preferably hinged together, which are secured together after being positioned on the housing of the lighting fixture. The locking rings are particularly adapted for retrofit installation on lighting fixtures of existing design.
