Abstract: An accelerometer of the shear type comprises a base (1) with uprights (2) supporting one or more seismic masses (3) by way of one or more piezoelectric elements (4). According to the invention, the seismic mass(es) (3) and the piezoelectric elements (4) are arranged between the uprights (2). The seismic masses (3) and the piezoelectric elements are clamped between the uprights (2) by means of a clamping ring (5). The resulting resonance frequency is very high, and the accelerometer is less sensitive to temperature transients, magnetic fields and easier to produce than the known accelerometers.
Abstract: A J1 byte processing circuit is provided with a J1 byte latch pulse sampling circuit, which samples in preset periods a J1 byte latch pulse. The sampling circuit generates, in accordance with the sampled J1 byte latch pulse, a data acquisition request to instruct acquisition of a J1 byte from the path overhead of an SPE level signal of STS-1 with the J1 byte latch pulse sampled by the sampling circuit, and sends it to a microcomputer interface. The microcomputer acquires into it the J1 byte from the J1 latching section in accordance with the data acquisition request. This configuration reduces the processing load on the microcomputer, and thereby enables the microcomputer to execute other processes even during the collection of J1 bytes.
Abstract: This invention describes a method for the raster-pattern coating of fabrics with hot melt adhesives by application of hot melt adhesive layer (1) on an intermediate carrier (12, 14) and by transfer of the hot melt adhesive layer (16) from the intermediate carrier (12, 14) to a final support (18), especially lining material, wherein the hot melt adhesive-containing layer (16) on the intermediate carrier (12, 14) is provided with a further layer (8) which results in the adhesion to the final support. Also, a fabric (38) obtainable through this method is described. Such a fabric can be used as a fixable liner material, especially in outerwear.

Abstract: The present application is directed to a method for distinguishing between normally differentiated and benign or malignantly transformed cells in human colonic tissue. It is also directed to a method for monitoring the state of premalignant or malignant human colonic tissue. In both methods, a 50F1 complementary DNA standard probe is utilized which hybridizes to the RNA in the test sample and to a second sample, which is a predetermined sample of colonic tissue, and the amount of hybridization of the 50F1 complementary DNA to the test sample is compared to the hybridization of the 50F1 complementary DNA with the second sample.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved method of depositing a diamond-like carbon film onto a substrate by low temperature plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) from a hydrocarbon/helium plasma. More specifically, the diamond-like carbon films of the present invention are deposited onto the substrate by employing acetylene which is heavily diluted with helium as the plasma gas. The films formed using the process of the present invention are characterized as being amorphous and having dielectric strengths comparable to those normally observed for diamond films. More importantly, however is that the films produced herein are thermally stable, optically transparent, absorbent in the ultraviolet range and hard thus making them extremely desirable for a wide variety of applications.

Abstract: An overcurrent detecting circuit provided within a battery pack detects any overcurrent flowing in a circuit electrically connecting the battery and connection terminals. Upon detection of any overcurrent by this overcurrent detecting circuit, a switch circuit intercepts the electric connection between the battery and the terminals, and opens the so far closed circuit.

Abstract: In radio transmission systems having a number of radio channels available for transmission, it is necessary to recognize a transmission channel as idle. One known way of doing this is to measure the field strength on the transmission channel and carry out a threshold decision. As soon as the field strength in a transmission channel is below a preset value, this transmission channel is recognized as idle. In measuring field strength, the field strength is averaged over the entire bandwidth of the transmission channel. As a result, a transmission channel that experiences interference from the signals on its adjacent channels may not be recognized as idle, although the adjacent-channel interference has little effect on the transmission quality. The new method makes it possible to recognize the signal present in a transmission channel by means of numerous narrowband field strength measurements.

Abstract: For use in combination with a data processing apparatus (50) which is provided with a card connecting portion for connecting a card-shaped device therewith, a portable telephone apparatus (20) has a card-shaped portion which can be connected to the card connecting portion instead of the card-shaped device. The data processing apparatus is for processing a datum. When the card-shaped portion is connected to the card connecting portion, the datum can be transferred between the data processing apparatus and the card-shaped portion. Therefore, the portable telephone apparatus enables the data processing apparatus to carry out communication relating to the datum.
Abstract: An electronic apparatus powered by a battery and having a keyboard is disclosed. When a key provided on the keyboard is operated, a key tone generating circuit generates a key tone. A setting circuit sets at least one of the loudness, pitch, duration and other attributes of the key tone. A measuring circuit measures the residual amount of the capacity of the battery in terms of a voltage. The setting circuit changes the attribute of the key tone in response to the output of the measuring circuit. The apparatus allows the user to see the residual amount of the battery capacity on the basis of a different between such key tones, i.e., without looking at a display.
Abstract: A clock distribution network for synchronously coupled electronic communication systems that includes a clock distribution device having a phase locked loop for synchronizing the external clock signals provided to each semiconductive device with each other. The clock distribution device distributes a low speed clock to a large number of clocked semiconductor devices where those devices then internally generate high speed clocks in phase with the low speed clock. The low speed clocks are phase shifted with respect to each other to reduce radiated energy. The ratio of internal to external clock speed is also communicated to each chip so that the chips can be programmed to operate with a variety of external clock speeds. The phase shifting of the external clock to different chips is provided so that the chips can still communicate synchronously at the high speed internal clock.
