Abstract: An apparatus for annealing biaxially oriented articles is disclosed, particularly blow molded articles prepared from unique tapered preforms which are immediately annealed using warm fluid in a segmented mold. Portions of the segment mold, used to form the articles, are temperature controlled at various temperatures by passing warm water through conduits in the neck-shoulder portion and body portion of the mold segment and cold water through the bottom and shoulder portion of the mold to bring the temperature of the article wall to about 65.degree. C. to 85.degree. C. for PET bottles. The body wall temperature is preferably lowered to about 80.degree. C. while the neck-shoulder and bottom and shoulder portions are lowered to at least 70.degree. C. The annealing increases the articles structural strength, removes temperature and biaxial stress, reduces gas permeability, retains transparency and allows for multiple reuse of the article including hot washing thereof.

Abstract: An improved injection molding apparatus having a fixed mold 7 having a molten resin passage 16b and a movable second mold 8 having a molten resin passage 18 is presented in which residual hardened resin left in molten resin passages of the injection apparatus is removed automatically after every injection operation. The invented device is provided with a reciprocating member 34 which is coupled in molten resin passages 16b, 18, and during the injection step, the molten resin passage 16b is extended to the molten resin passage 18 by moving the reciprocating member 34 into the second mold to communicate a mold cavity 17 with a resin injection device 14. After the completion of the injection step, the reciprocating member 34 is moved to the back position to remove any resin left in the molten resin passage towards the first mold.
Abstract: As a method for producing a tile carpet having a a lining layer, there is provided a means for obtaining a tile carpet superior in the uniformity of thickness and adhesion of the lining layer and also superior in all of standing stability, shape and dimensional stability and durability, in high applicability of a sealing material in carpet cloth and a lining material and that in high production efficiency. The method of the present invention for producing such tile carpet comprises applying a heat-melted, amorphous olefin polymer composition (11) onto a travelling endless belt (3), then laminating onto this coating surface a carpet cloth (1) which has been sealed beforehand with an amorphous olefin polymer composition (7), to obtain an integral laminate, thereafter cooling the laminate forcibly using a cooling plate (14), separating the laminate from the endless belt (3) and cutting it into a tile shape.
