Abstract: A portable unitary apparatus, preferably wheeled, is provided herein for disposing of hazardous light bulbs, e.g., fluorescent light bulbs. The apparatus is in the form of a housing which includes an upper compartment, and a lower compartment. The top of the housing is provided with a cylindrical fluorescent light bulb feed chute for a fluorescent light bulb to be disposed of. A rotary, bulb crushing fluorescent light bulb device, comprising a pair of rigid articulated crushing hammers is secured to opposed ends of a securement member, by means of a chain-type joint, each rigid articulated crushing hammer including an arm and a weighted end, the weighted end being secured to the end of an associated arm by a chain-type joint. The rigid articulated crushing hammers which are powered by a motor, are disposed within an enclosed reduction chamber shroud which depends from the upper compartment.
Abstract: An ultrasonic system for measuring the volume of liquid in a container having a lid in which an ultrasonic signal is emitted and received by a sensor subsystem located on the underside of the lid of the ultrasonic system. The ultrasonic system can measure the exact amount of liquid or the level of the liquid held in the container by processing the roundtrip time the ultrasonic signals took to travel from the sensor subsystem to the surface of the liquid where the ultrasonic signals are reflected back to the ultrasonic sensor subsystem. A solid state, three-phase SCR/diode bridge converts a three-phase alternating current (AC) to a direct current (DC) power source for heating the liquid in a boiler subsystem prior to its transport to the container. A second, triac controlled heater is powered by a single phase of the three phase power source, and is used to warm and maintain the liquid held within the container at a constant temperature.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of a preparation containing a first group of particles and at least one other group of particles which is not identical to the first group of particles for achieving controlled release of an active ingredient present in the cores of the particles, in particular in the human and veterinary medical sectors. The preparation is administered orally, rectally, vaginally etc. The release of the active ingredient then takes place in the appropriate medium, and there is transmucosal absorption of the active ingredient.
Abstract: A bearing assembly for supporting a drive shaft of a ship wherein the shaft if generally to be supported by such bearing assembly in a horizontally extending position. The bearing assembly has a housing with a cylindrical shell mounted therein having a central bore with a longitudinally extending central axis. The shell has a plurality of circumferentially spaced staves provided therein which project into the central bore to support the drive shaft. The staves have transverse grooves provided therein.
Abstract: A clear package for enabling a packaged product to appear to be floating therein in an appealing and highly visible form. The package of the present invention comprises a sleeve having two pairs of opposing flat walls extending from a base, one pair being relatively thin and the other being relatively wide. At each end of each pair of relatively thin walls is an orifice. The package also comprises a pair of caps, one being placed on each end of the sleeve and comprising a pair of flat sides and a pair of convex, curved sides. On each flat side lies a protrusion having a triangular cross-section, corresponding to the orifice on each end of the sleeve. The package additionally comprises a support therein having an intermediate portion, which in turn has an indented envelope for holding the product.
