  • Patent number: 4480793
Abstract: A liquid distribution device having preferred utility as a lawn sprinkler head consists of a hollow chamber having continuously curved interior walls and having a series of exit ports disposed therein. The interior chamber walls are structured to create a rapidly rotating turbulent mass of fluid in the chamber, producing a rapidly directionally unstable flow of discrete drops from each exit port. The chamber is preferably ellipsoidal in shape, and has a total exit-port cross-sectional area greater than that of the fluid inlet to the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4480922
Abstract: An improved recycling apparatus for particulate asphaltic concrete comprises a rotatable drum in which the particulate composition is gradually heated between an input end and an output end having a retractable chute extending into a port at the output end for recovering composition of a selected temperature. The chute contains a temperature sensing device, and the apparatus preferably includes a drive means for inserting or retracting the chute, and thermostat means for selecting a product temperature whereby the drive means causes the chute to be extended into the drum to recover the composition of a selected temperature. In another embodiment, the drum includes first, second, and third lifters each extending along different respective lengths of the drum interior to achieve different exposure of the particulate composition to the heating gases in the drum in the respective different drum sections to achieve improved heating and mixing efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4481039
Abstract: An improved process for recycling asphaltic concrete comprises introducing asphaltic concrete particles at one end of an elongated rotating drum while supplying flame and hot gases of combustion to the drum at the opposite end, and introducing virgin aggregate into the drum intermediate the two ends. The asphaltic concrete is heated as it travels along a portion of the length of the drum and is recovered just prior to reaching the position along the drum length at which the aggregate is introduced. The aggregate is heated as it travels toward the end of the drum at which the flame and hot gases are introduced. Heated aggregate may be returned to the drum for further heating, and may be directed to the opposite drum end and mixed with the asphaltic concrete in a section of the drum.

  • Patent number: 4480716
Abstract: A casing incorporates a spool having a cable wound thereon. One end of the cable is fixed to the spool and the other end passes from the casing. A safety belt is secured to the casing and arranged to support a human body. The extending free end of the cable terminates in a hook or other device for attaching the same to a high rise building. In the event of fire or other emergency, a person can lower himself by paying out the cable from the casing. Appropriate viscous fluid in the casing provides a drag so that the rate of descent is controlled.

  • Patent number: 4460519
Abstract: A hydrotherapy jet unit used singly or in multiples for jetting pressurized water and air under submerged conditions into a water-bearing vessel, and provided with a means to fix the direction of jetted flow at an optimum angle not susceptible to change or alteration by the vessel user; however, each unit being readily adaptable to provide directional jetted flows at differing fixed angles by means of removable and interchangeable deflection nozzles. The unit features both water and air supply pipes entering the hydrotherapy jet housing at its rear extremity, said pipes being substantially parallel to each other and axially aligned with the jet action produced within the unit. This arrangement provides a means for simple removal and replacement of the unit if required without need to damage, alter or reconfigure pipe means supplying either water or air.
