  • Patent number: 4445503
Abstract: A percussor assembly comprises a rigid body member having a gas inlet passageway and gas outlet passageway, a movable gas sealing member, and a gas pressure chamber communicating with the gas inlet passageway, the gas sealing member being forced from a first position forming a gas-tight seal between the gas pressure chamber and the gas outlet passageway to a second position in which the chamber and passageway are in communication to allow a burst of gas to pass from the chamber into the outlet passageway. A percussion head, which may be remote from the body member receives the burst of gas, the bursts being created successively at the percussion head.

  • Patent number: 4439040
Abstract: An improved recycling apparatus for particulate asphaltic concrete comprises a rotatable drum in which the particulate composition is gradually heated between an input end and an output end having a retractable chute extending into a port at the output end for recovering composition of a selected temperature. The chute contains a temperature sensing device, and the apparatus preferably includes a drive means for inserting or retracting the chute, and thermostat means for selecting a product temperature whereby the drive means causes the chute to be extended into the drum to recover the composition of a selected temperature. In another embodiment, the drum includes first, second, and third lifters each extending along different respective lengths of the drum interior to achieve different exposure of the particulate composition to the heating gases in the drum in the respective different drum sections to achieve improved heating and mixing efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4424538
Abstract: An audio tape recorder having particular utility for retrofitting vehicles having radios, tape players, or other audio generating devices has an automatic signal level control circuit adaptable to very wide ranges of input circuit level. The circuit has a variable resistor in parallel with the audio output having a resistance level dependent on the voltage output of a digital voltage counter. The voltage counter sets out a discrete stepped output dependent on signals generated from a peak detector, which detects input signal peaks above a preset level, and a low level detector, which detects average input signal levels below a predetermined level. A delay switch prevents the low level detector from actuating the counter for a preset period.

  • Patent number: 4416270
Abstract: An improved percussor comprises an oscillating assembly having a reciprocating plunger, a first and second chamber and a gas tight seal therebetween when the plunger is at rest in a biased position, and gas inlet means for directing gas into the first chamber to begin to force the plunger downwardly against the biasing force, thereby unseating the gas seal between the chambers. The gas pressurizes the second chamber to force the plunger to a second position and the pressure is then relieved through a gas exit passageway. In response to the pressure drop, the plunger is returned to its original position. This plunger reciprocation is repeated rapidly to achieve the percussor action. In a preferred embodiment, a fluid containing chamber having exteriorly exposed fluid impermeable membrane engages the reciprocating plunger whereby the energy is directed through the liquid and membrane.

  • Patent number: 4398826
Abstract: An improved asphaltic concrete recycling apparatus comprises an elongated drum having an open inlet port at a first drum end and a product recovery port adjacent a second and opposite drum end, a burner adjacent the first drum end for introducing hot gases of combustion into the inlet port, and an elongated sleeve extended along the interior of the drum intermediate the first and second ends for directing the hot gases of combustion toward the second drum end. In the preferred embodiment, the first end of the sleeve is located in a portion of the drum where a veil of composition is avoided during drum rotation, and the second sleeve end is located in a drum portion where a curtain or veil of composition is formed.

  • Patent number: 4390013
Abstract: A percussor assembly having a gas inlet passageway, a gas outlet passageway, a gas sealing means therebetween, and a percussion member which is moved in response to gas pressure from the gas inlet passageway overcoming the gas sealing means, which gas pressure is then vented through the gas outlet passageway, includes a valve member for closing the gas inlet passageway when the gas pressure is vented through the gas outlet passageway.

  • Patent number: 4385481
Abstract: A transporting system to deliver coins to coin-processing machines includes a single endless belt mounted above the coin-processing machines. The belt is mounted horizontally, with the coin-carrying belt surface canted at a 45.degree. angle to horizontal to form a V-shaped trough with an adjacent wall along which coins are carried. A plurality of ports having adjustable gates permit coins to fall through chutes to the processing machines. Coins passing all of the ports drop into a hopper, and are recirculated to the endless belt by a conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4379519
Abstract: A conventional stiff paper bag adapted to be maintained in an open or folded condition is maintained in the open position by a pair of disposable U-shaped stiffeners which mount over the upper edges of opposing side panels of the bag. The stiffeners preclude creases in the side panels from tending to relax the bag into the folded condition. The stiffeners are preferably slightly longer than the horizontal dimension of the side panels to force the bag mouth into the open position.

  • Patent number: 4379097
Abstract: A hydrotherapy jet unit used singly or in multiples for jetting pressurized water and air under submerged conditions into a water-bearing vessel, and provided with a means to fix the direction of jetted flow at an optimum angle not susceptible to change of alteration by the vessel user; however, each unit being readily adaptable to provide directional jetted flows at differing fixed angles by means of removable and interchangeable deflection nozzles. The unit features both water and air supply pipes entering the hydrotherapy jet housing at its rear extremity, said pipes being substantially parallel to each other and axially aligned with the jet action produced within the unit. This arrangement provides a means for simple removal and replacement of the unit if required without need to damage, alter or reconfigure pipe means supplying either water or air.
