  • Patent number: 4183063
Abstract: A system for selectively reversing the deflection sweep to a yoke coil of a television receiver system in which a double pole-double throw (DP-DT) switch reverses the current to the deflection coil, a solenoid relay actuates the DP-DT switch, and switch control and arrangement means for energizing the solenoid relay during times when power is not applied to the television receiver system. Also the system provides for a four or more sequential position switch in which intermediate portions of the switch perform as a break-before-make (BBM) stage and the outer portions of the switch positions perform as make-before-break (MBB) stages and the switch comprises a DP-DT and a four position switch operable mechanically in tandem.

  • Patent number: 4166390
Abstract: A scanning radiometer having a series of laminations forming a tightly bonded sandwich structure each being electrically insulated from adjacent ones thereof, said series including a thermometric or thermo responsive material, a heat pump functioning material, a heat sink functioning material, and an insulator functioning material, and in which the thermo responsive material is formed of a set of matrix of thin metal alternately with absorptive or blackened portions, each forming opposite arms of a Wheatstone bridge. The use of the term "thermoelectric or thermoresponsive material" designates a metallic or other electric resistor whose resistance is temperature sensitive and when measured, is an indicator of its temperature. "Heat pump functioning material" is a thermoelectric device that tranfers or "pumps" heat from one of its two surfaces to the other when an electric current is supplied to its terminals.

  • Patent number: 4162658
Abstract: A floating liquid-storage tank has side walls of double-hull construction for storing a liquid lighter in specific gravity than water. The double-hull side walls consist of inner and outer hull sections and have watertight partition plates for dividing the hollows of the side walls into upper and lower ballast tanks. The outer hull sections of the upper ballast tanks are built to be resistant to the external water pressure and those of the lower ballast tanks are non-pressure-resistant. Holes through which the water outside can enter the lower ballast tanks are made in the outer hull sections of the lower ballast tanks. The partition plates are horizontally located at or slightly below the level of the intersection of the liquid-pressure distribution line and the external-water-pressure distribution line in the direction of depth of the storage tank in the full loaded condition.

  • Patent number: 4162855
Abstract: A lightweight magnetic stirrer apparatus which may be positioned for rotation in a fluid containing vessel, having a magnetic rotor assembly including a generally vertical center hub on which is mounted a generally horizontal magnetic impeller. The rotor assembly is rotatably mounted in a positioning cage which generally positions the rotor assembly within the vessel and prevents it from contacting the walls of the vessel to allow the rotor assembly hub to rotate free relative to the vessel in the cage under the influence of an exterior magnetic drive. The magnetic stirrer apparatus is also provided with a cage in which the legs are totally removeable so as to make it any size for different beakers. Furthermore, the magnet may be removed completely from the cage so that it may be dropped into the neck of a bottle and the magnet per se used by itself. High lubricity bearing surfaces of the hub and cage reduce frictional forces and allow rotation of the impeller at very low speeds.
