Abstract: A device for eliminating the problem of determining the true oil level in the oil separator of a screw compressor assembly. Refrigerant liquid injection screw compressors create foam in the oil separator and cause a problem of oil level determination. The present invention isolates the foam and provides an accurate indication of operating oil level in the primary section of the screw compressor oil separator.

Abstract: A new and improved pneumatically shaped ear plug comprising and constructed of an elastomeric hollow body of sheet material dimensioned to and constructed for being inserted into the ear canal or ear cavity, and end of the cylindrical hollow body being of a material performing as a diaphragmatic member so that when it is depressed, the volume of air therein extends the cylindrical side, and vice versa, said end member having a lead or handle means for retracting said diaphragm when it is depressed for restoring it to its original condition, said end member being of such resiliency of said elastomeric material that it retains its depressed condition when it has been so depressed, and retains its released condition when it has been released, thereby constituting a dual state condition as operated upon by action on said diaphragmatic member.

Abstract: A fireplace shield or screen is provided that includes a movable member made of a suitable material such as asbestos fiber material that is flame resistant. The fabric shield can be mounted by frame pieces in proper position relative to the fireplace opening.The fireplace shield of the present invention will seal the fireplace opening, act as a fireproof curtain, and resist air pressure differential forces.

Abstract: A hierarchical data storage system comprises a main store and a smaller, faster slave store containing data currently required for processing. The memory system responds to a store access command to retrieve an item of data. In addition, for certain types of store access command, the system performs a look-ahead action to ensure that the slave store is loaded with another data item which forms part of a possible sequence. In certain cases, a test is made to determine whether the possible sequence is in the ascending or descending direction, and the look-ahead access is then made in the appropriate direction.

Abstract: An improved system and method of analytical testing for medical purposes including reagent and sample measuring and dispensing by means and steps of forming matrixes of tubes or containers for specimens, applying the specimen to a spectrophotometer for quantitation, recording the results, then routing the chemicals and biological materials to an ion exchanger for final disposition for elimination of problems of pollutants and sediment collection.

Abstract: A new and improved water scooter for serving to facilitate sensory motor integration comprising a pair of spaced apart floatation devices of generally prismatic configuration and being constructed of generally soft, pliable flexible material throughout, being covered with nylon-reinforced waterproof canvas, a connecting nylon reinforced waterproof, hammock-forming canvas disposed around each of the floatation devices, and fastening devices on each of the connecting canvas and the floatation devices for securing the parts together and for allowing adjustments in size. An attachment strip of nylon reinforced waterproof canvas extends throughout the length of the floatation device and the connecting canvas provides for lending security to the apparatus of the water scooter, and the fastening devices are grommets for sizing and for anchoring bottom supporting material.

Abstract: A rotary dial signal processing circuit and an automatic selecting circuit for combining the rotary dial signal processing circuit with a Touch-Tone digital decoding system. The rotary dial signal processing circuit includes means to interpret line signals as to on/off hook condition, dial pulsing, and completion of a dial pulse sequence. This includes estimation of the time durations of specific signal levels. Thus, for a dial pulse the off-hook signal input goes low for 33-90 ms, causing an appropriate system response; there is no system change for a low input signal of less than 25 ms; a low input signal of over 95 ms is interpreted as on-hook, and causes reset; a high input signal of over 150 ms is interpreted as completion of the dial sequence (timeout). The rotary dial signalling processing circuit counts the sensed dial pulses and provides a 4-bit output code which is compatible with the Touch-Tone code.

Abstract: A multiple-frequency decoder which measures the two-tone output from a multiple-frequency dial type telephone and identifies what number was dialed. A unique binary code is produced as a timed output for each number dialed. In addition, the decoder has provision for detecting and providing as a separate output a unique binary output word whenever a preselected transfer digit, e.g., a 1, 2 or 3 is dialed. With this additional output data, transfer relays can be operated. The decoder inputs are derived from high and low pass filters. The decoder differentiates between valid multiple-frequency tones and extraneous noise, such as voice signals, completely digitally, as follows: once the digital measurement of one cycle of each of the multiple incoming frequencies is made, the combination of all frequency measurements is stored as a k-bit binary word.

Abstract: A multiprocessor data processing system comprises a plurality of processing modules interconnected by a mains data highway. Each module contains an internal highway connected to main highway by means of a port unit, which monitors activity on the internal highway and reproduces on to the main highway any addresses which do not evoke any response on the internal highway. The invention has particular application for constructing flexible systems from large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) technology.

Abstract: A refrigeration or air conditioning system or unit is provided that includes revolving or oscillating heat exchangers, wherein the heat exchanger on the refrigeration side acts as an evaporator, while the other acts as a condenser on the outside.On a predetermined schedule the heat exchangers are rotated or oscillated 180.degree. so as to bring or move the frost laden evaporator outside and a clean condenser inside. Suitable controls are provided for selectively reversing the cycle at the proper time or interval.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device which is to be used in conjunction with key telephone systems, as for example, intercom systems. More particularly, the invention consists of a device for decoding the pulse output from rotary dial telephones, indicating which digit has been dialed and selectively signalling the called party. Special features include acceptance of a wide range of pulse speeds and ratios with decoding immunity to the initial hookswitch closure and the last opening. The latter permits the digit "1" to be used, providing for an additional signal function. A decoding matrix operates a relay tree with provisions for either single or two-digit codes. The device is intended for use in key telephone systems which include rotary dial telephones.

Abstract: Fittings are provided for use as replacements in a carburetor that has stripped the threads in the casting. The fittings include a self-adjusting filter screen, a cone nut, a fitting body, and a seal member. In a modified form of the invention, there is provided a method of sealing that does not use the screen.

Abstract: A hold attachment for a single-line telephone to allow the user to replace the handset and resume a call later or at another location. The attachment consists of a non-polarity-sensitive substitution circuit which is connected across the telephone line without regard for line polarity, the circuit including a bridge rectifier, a zener diode, the winding of a holding relay, a light-emitting diode and a manual switch, the contacts of the relay being connected in parallel with the switch. To place a call on "hold", the switch is operated while the handset is placed on hook, and then released. The line voltage causes the zener diode to conduct and energizes the relay, whereby the relay contacts shunt the switch, which maintains the holding connection across the line after the switch is released, and which provides a load resistance such that the switching equipment in the central office will remain held up, maintaining the talking connections to the called telephone.
