  • Patent number: 4352038
Abstract: A metallic wave guide having a smooth protected surface is connected at one end to a metal structural member under test and at the other to a metal plate to which a piezo electric crystal transducer of preselected frequency response is attached. The lengths of primary and secondary wave guides are carefully selected to control attenuation and time delay of the acoustical energy transmitted along the wave guides to balance inputs and provide repeatable testing data.

  • Patent number: 4349489
Abstract: This invention relates to a process and a jet to produce an idling vaporized mixture in an internal combustion engine. The process consists in vaporizing the mixture in two phases: one premixing phase in a turbulence chamber (10) consisting of mixing the fuel flow C.sub.r with an auxiliary air flow A.sub.a, which is in a lower proportion to the idling air flow A.sub.r, to obtain a highly vaporized premixture, and a final mixing phase made in a second chamber, known as the mixing chamber (5) and consisting of mixing the premixture M.sub.p with the slow-running air flow A.sub.r. A needle is responsive to changes in the vacuum level and enables the flow rate of the fuel to be adjusted as a function of the engine speed.

  • Patent number: 4347020
Abstract: A mine roof bolt assembly including a shank having anchoring means at one end for securing the shank in the back of the bore, the opposite end of the shank being threaded. A bolt head having a central bore, includes a first threaded bore portion threadedly engaged with the threaded end of the shank. A stop plug is threaded into a second threaded bore portion in the bolt head and abuts an end of the shank to initially limit penetration of the shank into the bore of the head. The bolt head is rotated by rotational means having a predetermined torque limit, moving the head longitudinally with respect to the shank, exerting a force on the stop plug which strips the threads from the second threaded bore portion, thereby permitting uninterrupted passage of the shank through the bore. A roof plate positioned on the shank between the bolt head and roof is then forced upwardly by the head into supporting engagement with the mine roof, and the predetermined torque of the rotational means is established.

  • Patent number: 4343286
Abstract: An archer's bow, the center of which is constructed to permit an unimpeded, dead center flight of the arrow as it leaves the bow. A magnetic, suspension type arrow rest holds the arrow directly in the center of the bow at full draw, the arrow rest being retracted upon release of the arrow. A hand held brace connected to the bow limbs by flexible lines, enables a resultant force to be exerted on the center of the bow.

  • Patent number: 4342527
Abstract: This is a support assembly for underground mine and tunnel roofs. The assembly includes a tubular member comprising two opposed semi-cylindrical portions, the opposed longitudinal edges on one side of the member being connected together. Portions of the edges on the opposite side of the member are provided with one or more complemental mating angular recesses, which together form a tapered opening in the tubular wall for receiving wedge members. A ram successively engages the wedge members to force the same through the tapered opening, to effect expansion of the tubular member into bonding engagement with the roof.

  • Patent number: 4339169
Abstract: This invention is a rear view mirror and wiper assembly which is mounted externally of the vehicle. The assembly includes a power operated wiper blade which reciprocates transversely of the mirror surface to provide a continuous, clear field of view to the rear of the vehicle. A continuously operating motor actuates a rotating crank arm having an anti-friction bearing which is in rolling engagement with a mechanism fixedly engaged with a wiper blade in wiping engagement with the mirror surface. The mechanism includes a wiper-actuating arm which translates the rotary motion of the crank arm to reciprocating linear motion of the wiper blade.

  • Patent number: 4338935
Abstract: A syringe support having a horizontal body portion, a first bracket member for holding a syringe plunger head in position and a second bracket member for slideably holding a syringe barrel while the support is clamped to a table. A patient may self-administer a medicinal dose contained in the syringe by placing a loaded syringe in the support and pressing his arm or other body portion against the needle of the syringe. Continued pressure against the needle causes injection by forcing the syringe barrel to slide along the support horizontal body portion in relation to the fixed piston or plunger until the cylinder abuts the second bracket member.
