  • Patent number: 4596758
Abstract: There is described a photomechanical method for forming pressure sensitive transfer reproductions of multicolor images upon a substrate involving the forming of a base coat protective layer on a substrate, applying one color ink on the base layer and a white ink overlayer on the color ink layer. The surface of the white ink overlayer is powdered and a layer of photoresist composition is applied. The photoresist covered layered substrate is exposed to a light source through an image carrying photographic negative film to harden the photoresist at the imaged areas forming a mask. Nonhardened photoresist composition areas along with their underlying layers are removed using stepwise solvent development steps. The steps are repeated for different colors with the final multicolor image being thoroughly dried and coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive to form the image transfer sheet. Drying between each step of formation is essential.

  • Patent number: 4591381
Abstract: A process for producing pig iron from iron ore concentrate, in a reactor vessel into which iron ore concentrate, coal, oxygen gas and slag formers are injected beneath the surface of a molten iron bath. According to the invention, the ratio CO.sub.2 /CO in the waste gas (11) from the reactor (2) is increased to a value higher than corresponding to the condition of equilibrium at atmospheric pressure. As a result greater heat is generated in the bath for a specific coal amount. The injected amount of coal in relation to injected amount of concentrate is predetermined for finally reducing pre-reduced iron ore concentrate (4) in the reactor (2). According to the invention, CO and H.sub.2 in the exhaust gas is passed to a pre-reduction step (1), where unreduced iron ore concentrate is pre-reduced and thereafter can be injected into the reactor.According to a preferred embodiment, the reactor (2) is pressurized to cause the CO.sub.2 /CO ratio to increase.

  • Patent number: 4590366
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of securing simple codes (5), which are built-up of a plurality of lines, symbols or patterns, which are readable by a machine, and which codes (5) are intended to be located on documents (2), valuable documents or marked units. The invention is characterized in that in the generating or writing-down of the codes (5) one or more of said lines, symbols or patterns constituting the code (5) each are caused to transform to a line (11) or an area, which does not constitute a part of the code (5), but constitutes a part of a pattern, in order to render a falsification by altering the code after its writing-down substantially more difficult.According to a preferred embodiment the invention further is characterized in that a so-called line code (5) is generated, and in its generation or writing-down one or several of the lines associated with the code are caused to continuously or intermittently transform to a line (11) deviating from the line associated with the code.

  • Patent number: 4580452
Abstract: A valve is mounted on a conduit from which it is desired to take a sample of the liquid which flows along the conduit. The body of the valve includes a through passage within which a needle valve member is removably inserted to close the valve. The body is provided, opposite said passage, with a collar in which is engaged the end of a rigid tube with a sampling vessel provided with a needle valve. Thus, it is possible to withdraw samples of the liquid into the vessel without any leakage of liquid and even without any emanation therefrom occuring, which is of the highest importance in the case of toxic or noxious liquids. Moreover, the device does not produce any dead volume of liquid which it would be necessary to purge before each taking or sampling of liquid from the conduit.
