  • Patent number: 5924739
Abstract: A device and method of placing an information panel on the inside of a bottle capsule. The device comprises a capsule circumferentially surrounding the neck of a wine bottle. The inner side of the capsule has an information panel. The information panel contains a message or code to the user of the product. Additionally, a tear-away tab is located on the capsule for easy removal of the capsule from the bottle. The method begins by printing product information on an information panel. Next, the information panel is affixed to an inner side of a removable capsule. The removable capsule is placed circumferentially around a container. Next, the capsule is removed from the bottle by pulling on a tear-away tab located on the capsule.

  • Patent number: 5920814
Abstract: A system and method of managing Temporary Mobile Station Identity (TMSI) parameters in a radio telecommunications network having a first mobile switching center (MSC), a second MSC, and a mobile station operating initially in a service area of the first MSC. A first Validity Area Parameter (VAP) is transmitted from the first MSC and a second VAP is transmitted from the second MSC. The first MSC then assigns a first TMSI to the mobile station, and utilizes the first TMSI to identify the mobile station while the mobile station operates within the service area of the first MSC. The mobile station then determines whether it is receiving the second VAP, and invalidates the first TMSI upon determining that the mobile station is receiving the second VAP. The mobile station then registers in the second MSC utilizing the mobile station's Mobile Identification Number (MIN).

  • Patent number: 5918177
Abstract: A system and method of ensuring that a called mobile station's expected service type matches a calling party's service type in a radio telecommunications network in which both voice service and data service are provided. A service code generator in a serving mobile switching center (MSC) generates a service code that indicates the calling party's service type. The service code is sent in a page from the serving MSC to the mobile station, and includes the service code. An expected service code generator in the called mobile station generates an expected service code that indicates the called mobile station's expected service type. The expected service code is sent in a page response from the mobile station to a border MSC that borders the serving MSC. The border MSC extracts the expected service code and sends it to the serving MSC where it is compared with the calling party's service code. If the service codes match, the call is connected to the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 5913165
Abstract: A method and system for changing subscriber service features in a radio telecommunications network is disclosed. The method begins by a subscriber originating a call from a telephone located in a telecommunications network to a roamer port located within a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) which may be located inside or outside the subscriber's home coverage area. The MSC sends a dial tone to the telephone. Next, the subscriber sends a feature code and Mobile Identification Number (MIN) through the telephone to the MSC requesting a service feature change. The MSC recognizes and verifies the feature code as a valid code. The MSC also associates a service feature change corresponding to the feature code and associates the MIN with a HLR. The MSC sends a feature request invoke message to the associated HLR requesting a service feature change. Then, the HLR implements the service feature change in the HLR.

  • Patent number: 5903831
Abstract: A system and method in a radio telecommunications network for preventing fraudulent call transfers by selectively restricting or disabling a call transfer immediate (CTR) feature is disclosed. The system includes a database of subscriber information which includes information relating to each subscriber's activated features and transfer-to numbers. The system also includes feature logic connected to the database for performing functions related to the activated features and for denying services related to features tat are not activated. CTR-disable logic is connected to the database and to the feature logic for selectively restricting or disabling the CTR feature when conditions indicative of fraudulent usage are detected. The method restricts or disables the CTR feature if the number of CTR call transfer requests exceeds a threshold number of requests within a predetermined time period.
