Abstract: A radio transmitter and receiver arrangement includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter generates an electromagnetic carrier that varies in frequency throughout a channel interval, and modulates the carrier with an information signal during the channel interval, whereby the carrier is modulated both in frequency and in accordance with the information signal during the channel interval. The receiver receives the carrier that is modulated both in frequency and in accordance with the information signal, generates a detection signal that varies in frequency throughout the channel interval, and mixes the carrier and the detection signal to recover the information signal.

Abstract: In order to provide rehabilitation, physiotherapy and maintain suppleness, an exerciser is provided in which a skid with a slide or movement surface is provided on one side and a grip on the other in order that a user can perform controlled oscillatory motions by resting a limb upon the grip. In such circumstances, for example, bed ridden patients recovering from hip or other joint replacement surgery can initially conveniently perform oscillatory motions, the extent of which can be progressively controlled to improve mobility. The exerciser can also be used for recuperative muscle development and maintenance of suppleness with regard to limb and joint movements.
Abstract: A twin vane-type phaser is described which is provided with a locking mechanism for locking the drive member to the driven members when the pressure in the working chambers is a below is predetermined value. The locking mechanism comprises two coaxial locking pins 114, 118 mounted in a common bore 110 in the centrally located member 32. The locking pins are resiliently urged apart by a spring 120 into bores in the two outer members 38, 40 and are retracted by pistons 112, 116 when the hydraulic pressure in the working chambers attains the predetermined value.

Abstract: A phase locked loop circuit (PLL) has a reference terminal for receiving a reference signal and an output terminal for providing an output signal.
Abstract: Computational models of a patterning process are described. Any one of these computational models can be implemented as computer-readable program code embodied in computer-readable media. The embodiments described herein explain techniques that can be used to adjust parameters of these models according to measurements, as well as how predictions made from these models can be used to correct lithography data. Corrected lithography data can be used to manufacture a device, such as an integrated circuit.
Abstract: A computer-aided design tool generates a layout for a passive device, such as a resistor or a capacitor, to be incorporated into an integrated circuit. The layout is based on a model describing the passive device as being formed by a variable number of interconnected instances of a device unit, such as a resistor segment or a capacitor block. User-supplied Input parameter values control the number of instances of the device unit included in the passive device layout, the relative positions of the device unit instances, and characteristics of their internal layouts. The tool also generates a display of a representation of the passive device layout and provides a graphical interface enabling the user to modify various aspects of the passive device layout by altering its displayed representation.
Abstract: A cylinder housing arrangement, where the cylinder housing encloses a lock cylinder or the like, which comprises a number of locking elements to be arranged by a key, preferably tumbler discs to be turned by a key, which discs in their locked position prevent the turning of the lock cylinder relative to the cylinder housing. The cylinder housing comprises a body part and a separate cover part, which is arranged to be installed in the crosswise direction relative to the cylinder housing at the end of the body part on the inserting side of a key, so that it is locked to the body part in the axial direction of the cylinder housing.
Abstract: A method of, and an apparatus for, providing broadband services to multiple remote units located at a client premise via a single communication line are provided. Authorization data is communicated from distribution equipment to the remote units and the authorization data authorizes one of the remote units to transmit data to the distribution equipment. The authorization data is included in a DSL frame and is sequentially changed thereby sequentially to authorize each remote unit one at a time to transmit data. The distribution equipment provides the authorization data in a control word of a frame header of a VDSL frame.
Abstract: A piston assembly for a door closer includes a piston formed with a mounting hole and a door closer valve installed with clearance in the mounting hole. The door closer valve has a body part with first and second formations at opposite respective ends of the body part for engaging opposite respective sides of the piston and retaining the valve in the mounting hole. The body part is movable in the mounting hole axially of the mounting hole. The first formation is a protruding flange for seating against the piston at the first side thereof around the mounting hole and creating a seal around the mounting hole.
Abstract: An integrated circuit tester for testing an IC device under test (DUT) during a succession of test cycles includes a pattern generator programmed to generate data before each test cycle encoded to specify all test activities to be carried out during the test cycle and to specify for each test activity a time during the test cycle at which the test activity is to be carried out and a DUT IO pin at which the test activity is to be carried out. Multiple programmable tester channels each comprise multiple DUT interface circuits, each of which can be connected to a separate DUT IO pin for carrying out test activities at that DUT IO pin when signaled to do so, and hardware resources programmed by decoding instructions to decode the data from the pattern generator for each test cycle and initiate each specified test activity by signaling the DUT interface circuit that is specified for the test activity at the time specified for the test activity.
Abstract: A therapy apparatus includes a container having an interior volume and having an opening providing access to the interior volume and massaging elements freely located in the interior volume of the container. Each massaging element has a generally spherical exterior and has multiple protrusions projecting from its generally spherical exterior. A patient's hand may be inserted into the container through the opening and be moved among the massaging elements to be stimulated by massaging elements contacting the fingers and both the front and the back of the hand.
Abstract: An arrangement in a fuel injection system for controlling the fuel injection includes a body part having a space, through which the fuel to be injected during operation flows, and a fuel inlet opening and an outlet opening opening into the space. A piston is arranged movably inside the space, the piston having a channel arranged therein for creating a flow connection between the fuel inlet opening and the outlet opening, whereby the piston divides the space into a first part connected with the inlet opening and a second part connected with the outlet opening. A spring creates a force acting on the piston in a direction opposite to that of the main fuel flow. The piston and the body part are formed so that when the piston is in the end adjacent the fuel inlet opening it delimits a third space, the volume of which depends on the mutual positions of the piston and the body part.
Abstract: A draw spring linkage includes a hollow rod formed with a shoulder structure at the first end of the rod and with a slot that extends longitudinally of the rod and is located between the shoulder structure and the second end of the hollow rod. A tongue member includes an attachment portion and a stem that projects from the attachment portion. The stem fits slidingly in the interior space of the hollow rod and is formed with a slot that is aligned with the slot in the hollow rod. A key extends through the slot in the tongue member and the slot in the hollow rod and projects laterally from the hollow rod. A hollow cylindrical spring is threaded by the hollow rod. The first end of the spring engages the shoulder structure, the second end of the spring engages the key, and the spring is held under compression between the shoulder structure and the key.
Abstract: A cutting device (10) for cutting a material (12) and providing a cut portion of the material (12). The device comprises a heating assembly comprising an electrical induction arrangement (32) for heating the cut portion of the material by induction heating.
Abstract: The present invention comprises a method of instructing a performer on the hand manipulations to make to play a piece of music. The invention includes a representation. The representation includes at least one time line which represents the elapse of time during the piece of music. Each time line is marked with beat indicia which indicate on the time line the occurrence of a beat in the music and indicia which mark the transition between bars. Symbols carry instructions on where the fingers are to be placed to define “home” keys, and other symbols carry instructions as to which fingers are to strike a key during a beat.
