Abstract: A machine for squeeze testing glass containers comprising a test station, including a fixed pad having a curved container engaging surface and an opposed wheel selectively spaced from the surface, rotating at a predetermined surface speed and in the direction required to roll a container delivered to the station along the curved surface until it is released therefrom. A conveyor delivers containers to the test station and carrys released containers away from the test station. A roller is rotatable about an axis parallel to the axis of rotation of the wheel and defines with the wheel a path through which released containers will pass. The roller is biased forward to a selected location whereat the distance between the roller and the wheel is less than the outer diameter of a released container, and the roller is rotated at a surface speed selected to reduce the rotation of a released container, which passes between the wheel and the roller.
Abstract: An animal confinement system comprising an emitter for transmitting coded near infrared energy, a receiver carried by an animal to be contained for receiving the transmitted coded near infrared energy, including an infrared receiving diode and, a comparator for conditioning the output of the infrared receiving diode. A predetermined threshold is established for the comparator which will cause the output of the comparator to go low when the output of the infrared receiving diode is received.

Abstract: A machine for inspecting the bottom of a glass container having an opening at the top thereof comprising means for delivering a glass container to an inspection station, the inspection station including a two dimensional camera having an imaging surface for viewing the bottom of the glass container through the opening of the bottle, a light source for directing light through the bottom of the container towards the imaging surface, a computer for evaluating the viewed bottom imaged on the imaging surface, and means for reducing the dynamic brightness range for the viewed bottom image including a spatial modulator located between the imaging surface and the light source and the computer complimenting and transferring the image of the glass container on the imaging surface to the spatial light modulator.
Abstract: A take out device for a multi gob glassware forming machine comprises at least two take out tongs and adjusting means to alter the spacing of the tongs as the take out device moves from its pick up position to its deposit position. The adjusting means comprises a gear segment which is caused to rotate as the take out arm moves and, through a link, causes appropriate movement of a tong.
Abstract: A door closer having a housing defining a fluid containing chamber and a fluid reservoir and including a piston supported in the chamber for movement in one and an opposite direction in response to respective opening and closing movements of a door. A first fluid passageway defined by the housing provides communication between the chamber and the reservoir for the free passage of fluid from the chamber to the reservoir in response to initial movement of the piston in the one direction. A second fluid passageway spaced in the one direction from the first fluid passageway contains a ball check valve spring biased to closed position for resisting the flow of fluid from the chamber through the second passageway to the reservoir. The valve is threadably adjustable relative to the housing to regulate the resistance to fluid flow.
Abstract: An animal confinement system is disclosed where a boundary is defined by converting energy radiated from a point source into a curtain. A code is transmitted within this curtain so that a receiver carried by an animal can receive the code and issue a suitable instruction to the animal.
Abstract: Vented plunger cooling exhaust air is directed downwardly through the lower cylinder through suspended tubing to isolate the hot exhaust air from the lower cylinder.

A magnetic circuit is created through a base of the cylinder, a sidewall, the piston and the detection insert, and movement of the piston is detected by a Hall sensor which detects a change of flux in the magnetic circuit.
Abstract: A plug gager is provided which can be tilted relative to the opening of a bottle to be inspected so that insertion will be assured for acceptable bottles. The plug gager tube assembler is supported at one end in a ball and socket support and is supported at the other end by a pair of taper bushings to permit tilting but normally maintaining the concentricity of the assembly.

To define this curve, a plurality of voltage/thickness points are inputted by a sensor into the computer Each point is defined by sensing and defining the voltage of a wall portion on a calibration standard having a known thickness and defining a calibration thickness corresponding to that voltage using the following equation{((Calibration Standard Diameter in inches -Container Diameter in inches).times.0.2)+1}.times.Calibration Standard Thickness in mils, andequating these calibration thicknesses to the corresponding voltages produced by the sensor when sensing at least two thicknesses of the standard.
Abstract: A trough system for the delivery of a gob of molten glass from a gob distributor to a parison mould cavity in a glassware forming machine comprises a trough assembly comprising an upwardly facing inclined trough which is arranged to receive a gob from a scoop of the gob distributor and a downwardly facing deflector which deflects a gob which has travelled down the trough into a vertical path to fall into the parison mould cavity. The deflector and the trough are mounted on a hanger which is supported in a frame member of the machine by a universal joint adjustable about three perpendicular axes. Consequently adjustment of the position of the deflector may be made without causing misalignment of the deflector and the trough.

Abstract: An inspection machine for inspecting the outer surface of a vertically standing container comprising a transparent convey for conveying a vertically standing container through an inspection location. The support conveyor includes a diffuser plate located to be beneath a conveyed container at the inspection location. A beam of collimated light is directed vertically downwardly towards the diffuser plate, and a two-dimensional camera axially views the bottom of the container above the diffuser plate, and the image is processed to evaluate the circumference of the container.
Abstract: A ware transfer mechanism is disclosed which includes equally spaced pockets which have a fixed rear wall and a side wall advanceable from a retracted position to an advanced position as the pockets are displaced along an arcuate path across the transfer plate overlapping a first conveyor and transverse cross conveyor. Containers will be displaced by the side wall to locate the container in line with the containers on the cross conveyor.
