  • Patent number: 5199624
Abstract: A rivet pulling head is supported for vertical displacement from an up position to a down riveting position. A rivet delivery device is carried by a movable support and has a delivery arm which can be lowered relative to the pulling head and pivoted underneath it to deliver the next rivet to the pulling head. The delivery device is operated when the head is at the up position and while the head is maintained at that location.

  • Patent number: 5180264
Abstract: An anchor bolt comprising a threaded stem and a head at one end of the stem; a tubular, hard rubber sleeve held on the stem by a retaining collar nut has a deeply-dished metal washer located on the stem between the head and the sleeve nut with its open end directed towards the sleeve. The dished washer preferably has axial grooves extending from its periphery towards the centre. When the bolt is set, the dished washer is distorted by compression to undercut the hole and the rubber sleeve cooperates with the stem and the walls of the hole to give a very high pull-out resistance.

  • Patent number: 5172842
Abstract: The magnetized punch of the tool breaks off the tang and holds the tang until the punch is withdrawn into an opening in a vacuum conduit. The tang is thereby removed from the punch and it becomes entrained in a vacuum flow, detected and accounted for before passing into a collection chamber.

  • Patent number: 5171959
Abstract: Process for welding a weld stud onto a workpiece by means of a drawn arc, in which the weld stud is placed onto the workpiece and, with performance of a welding stroke, is removed from the workpiece in a return stroke, igniting a pilot arc, and is advanced toward the workpiece again in a forward stroke during the combustion of a connected welding arc. The welding arc is divided by pulse-wise current reduction to a minimum value into a sequence of current pulses and the last of these current pulses is extended in time by at least about 1.5 times relative to the preceding current pulses. This extended current pulse lasts substantially to the end of the forward stroke.

  • Patent number: 5170928
Abstract: A bonding head for an automatic wire bonding machine, comprises a flame-off electrode which is adapted to be lifted away from an operative position in which it is used to form a ball on the end of the bonding wire, and a capillary through which the bonding wire is supplied to the flame-off electrode. The capillary is also adapted to apply pressure and ultrasonic energy to the wire when it is in contact with the surface to which it is to be bonded. The flame-off electrode is adapted to be lifted away from the operative position by movement of the bond head from a flame-off position to a bonding position.

  • Patent number: 5165521
Abstract: A die eject system for a hybrid die bonder, in particular an automatic hybrid die bonder, comprises a support, on which a plurality of die eject heads are mounted. The die eject heads can be sequentially indexed into an operative position. The system has the advantage that it is possible to change rapidly from one head to another, either to eject different sizes of dice or in the case of damage to a die eject needle within a die eject head.

  • Patent number: 5154376
Abstract: A cable-securing device having a locking head and a flexible strap extending therefrom in the form of a ladder having cross bars extending between parallel side members. The cross bars are larger than the separation of the side members so that they are bent as they lie in the plane of the side members. The device has a projecting locking peg which forms a cable-securing loop when a cross bar is engaged by the locking peg.

  • Patent number: 5150530
Abstract: A hybrid die bonder has the ability to change tool holders to accommodate different die sizes. The single pick up head is selectively, magnetically, connectable to any of a plurality of tool holders. An electromagnet in the head holds a magnetic tool holder and a sealed air line is established therebetween. Prior to pick up, the head and tool holder have the same orientation so that precision locating structure therebetween will cooperate to establish a precise axis for the tool holder.
