  • Patent number: 5407067
Abstract: A folding compact disk carrying case foldable about a center thereof to define interior right and left surfaces and including a plurality of pockets in the interior surfaces. Each of the pockets has an opening and a depth shorter than the diameter of each of the compact disks to allow a top portion of each of the compact disks to extend beyond the opening. A transparent flexible sheet is connected to a lip of each of the pockets for covering the top portion of each of the compact disks extended beyond the opening of each of the pockets. As a result, while the top portion of each compact disk is extended outside of each pocket for easy and quick access and removal of the compact disk, the transparent flexible sheet covering the top potion protects the surface of the compact disk and yet allows a quick recognition of the compact disk.

  • Patent number: 5408451
Abstract: To provide a driving device for an objective lens that has a high driving sensitivity and superior driving frequency characteristics. The present invention relates to a device for driving the objective lens (1) of an optical head that uses a device for recording information on an optical information recording medium, and for reproducing information therefrom, by irradiating a beam of light thereon while positioning and focusing the light with respect to an information track on the optical information recording medium. The device has a loose linkage member which supports an objective lens within a cylindrical member and comprises the cylindrical member (14 ) and a cylindrical hole portion (19 ) into which the cylindrical member is inserted so as to face the cylindrical hole with an air gap therebetween and with the axes thereof oriented vertically, and the driving force generated by a tracking coil (3 ) is transmitted through this loose linkage member to the objective lens.

  • Patent number: 5406766
Abstract: A concrete tile of integral, one-piece construction has left side and right side portions of different coloring which extends through the entire thickness of the relatively thin, generally planar tile. An upper surface of the tile has a groove therein which separates the differently colored left side and right side portions. The left and right side portions have different lengths, providing the tile with a stepped front edge. A method of making the tile dispenses wet concrete having two different colors into a partitioned pug box for disposition onto opposite sides of a pallet, so that the two different colors reside on opposite sides of the pallet in side-by-side relation. The wet concrete is metered and compressed by a roller and shaped by a slipper to provide the concrete tile with a desired cross-sectional shape, following which the concrete is then chopped by a knife assembly to form the individual tiles with desired edge configurations.

  • Patent number: 5406020
Abstract: An automatic accompaniment device equipped with a CPU that controls, via a bus, a ROM that stores a plurality of rhythm patterns including introduction patterns, fill-in patterns and normal patterns. The device also includes a sound source circuit that generates musical sounds based on rhythm pattern data that is supplied after being selected by switches on an operation panel. In operation, the performer selects an introduction pattern to begin the automatic accompaniment. If the performer desires a shorter introduction, the performer activates a switch on the operation panel that causes a fill-in pattern to begin at a musically natural point in the introduction pattern. The fill-in pattern is shorter than the introduction pattern and provides a musically natural and smooth transition to the normal pattern. Thus, it is possible to end an introduction pattern at an optional point without imparting a musically unnatural quality to the automatic accompaniment.

  • Patent number: 5406117
Abstract: A pre-molded plastic package has encapsulation material removed so that an upper cavity is formed above the die and its associated wirebonds and a lower cavity is formed below the die attach pad and lead frame. Advantageously, the encapsulating material is removed without damaging the die, its associated wirebonds or the lead frame. An upper shield is then mounted on the top side over the still encapsulated die and wirebonds. Encapsulating material, such as epoxy, is then placed about the upper shield and cured. A lower shield is then mounted on the bottom side the die attach pad and lead frame. Encapsulating material is also placed over the lower shield and cured. Advantageously, the invention provides a process alternative whereby the shields can be installed at a very low per unit cost and in only minutes per unit without the need for custom tooling.

  • Patent number: 5406511
Abstract: Memory cells are formed at mutually facing areas of conductive layers arranged in parallel in a lateral direction and conductive layers arranged in a direction orthogonal to the lateral direction. A plurality of capacitors are formed, as a matrix array, at those mutually facing area of the conductive layers crossing relative to each other in the mutually orthogonal relation. Each capacitor constitutes a memory cell. A plurality of capacity levels, each, are set as a corresponding capacitor level by varying a mutually facing area between the conductive layers.

  • Patent number: 5405734
Abstract: Patterned film portions are removed from a surface of a flat substrate by irradiation with a focused ion beam without created undesired scars or processing grooves in the substrate surface. This is achieved by applying a masking substance only onto the substrate surface where it is not covered by the patterned film portions, and then using the focused ion beam to etch away the patterned film portions.

  • Patent number: 5406023
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument for realizing an easy selection of registration from a variety of registrations. First, a number from "1" to "10" is selected in an upper keyboard timbre select switch group, the numbers corresponding to various timbres, such as piano, organ, harpsichord, guitar, or the like respectively. Similarly, another number from "1" to "10" is selected in a rhythm selecting switch group, the numbers corresponding varies to rhythms, such as jazz, pops, mood music, children's songs, classical, or the like. According to this, a preferable registration group with respect to the music can be easily selected from a great number (i.e., 10.times.10=100) of registration groups.

  • Patent number: 5403781
Abstract: A multi-layered wiring structure, having a first level metal wiring layer and a second level metal wiring layer, is formed on a semiconductor substrate. A first level interlayer insulating film which has an undulation caused by the first level metal wiring layer, a second level metal wiring layer which also has an uneven surface, and a second level interlayer insulating layer are consecutively deposited on the semiconductor substrate. A reflection preventing film (TiN) of 80 nm or more thickness is deposited over the second level interlayer insulating film, and a resist layer is coated on the reflection preventing film. Then, an ultra-violet ray is irradiated through a patterning mask to make an opening corresponding to a contact hole. The reflection preventing film constrains a multi-reflection of the ultra-violet ray. Thus, an accuracy of the patterning of the contact hole is improved.
