  • Patent number: 5069494
Abstract: A device for removing, storing and applying contact lenses comprises a plurality of compartments arranged axially spaced in a cylindrical body with the base of each compartment formed by a portion which can be unscrewed from the remainder and which defines the cover for the next adjacent portion. An end compartment receives an applicaator head which is stored within the compartment in a suitable liquid. The applicator includes a suction bulb and the head which is in the form of a cylindrical body having a peripheral edge of approximately the diameter of the outer edge of the lens and a membrane extending across the cylindrial body. The membrane has an upper surface for engaging the lens which is perforated so that suction applied by the bulb draws the lens onto the membrane and then further suction distorts the membrane to pull the sides of the cylindrical portion inwardly to pinch the lens and break the seal.

  • Patent number: 5067216
Abstract: A line block is used for producing profiles on bodies, especially filled automobile bodies. The block is composed of a series of thin, stacked plates with fine cutting teeth along one edge of each plate. The plates are clamped together with bolts so that they can be loosened and pressed against a profile to be matched so that the cutting edges of the plates follow the profile. The bolts are then tightened and the line block used to produce the desired profile. Notches in the cutting edges of the plates are offset on adjacent plates in the block to accommodate material removed from the body being profiled.

  • Patent number: 5058531
Abstract: A feeder for cylindrical bales is of the tombstone type that is it includes a lower circular band defined by hoops and an upstanding sheet of material forming a skirt. U-shaped frames or tombstones are then attached to the outer frame and extend upwardly therefrom with the animal able to reach between the tombstone for grasping feed from a bale confined within the feeder. In accordance with the improvement of the present invention, the tombstones are bent inwardly and upwardly so that the animals front legs are confined outwardly away from the bale while the animal can reach over the inclined portion of the tombstone and through the vertical portion of the tombstone to the table. The animal is encourged to feed within the outer frame and thus any waste is deposited within the outer frame and cannot be trampled or spoiled. The animal is inhibited from pressing its shoulders against the frame thus reducing damage or breakage and excessive movement of the feeder.

  • Patent number: 5057056
Abstract: A threshing concave or concave guide for a combine harvester is described. The concave is positioned in its conventional location on a combine, however, the design has been modified. The crop is directed into the concave by threshing cylinder rasp bars. As the crop enters the guide, at its base, there are positioned a number of angled bars that direct the incoming crop away from the center of the concave. Traditional concaves move the grain toward the center of the device. The angled bars of the present invention distribute the load more evenly along the concave surface, thereby resulting in a decreased wear and tear of the concave and rasp bars. The design also reduces the damage to separate grain as the grain slides into the leading edge of the device rather than abruptly hitting the sharp edge of a first cross bar, as in traditional concaves.
