Abstract: An arrangement for transferring electric current to a propulsion device provided with an electric motor in a ship or equivalent. The propulsion device is rotatably mounted on the ship's hull rotatable in relation to a substantially vertical axis of rotation. At the lower end of the vertical frame of the propulsion device, a lower housing is mounted in which the electric motor is arranged to drive a propeller which revolves around a substantially horizontal shaft of rotation. The current transfer arrangement includes a stationary conductor member mounted stationarily in relation to the hull of the ship and a mobile conductor member installed on the vertical frame of the propulsion device. The stationary conductor member and the moving conductor member are one of an annular part and a part of circular section arranged inside the annular part, preferably coaxially with the annular part, so that an annular intermediate space is defined between the stationary conductor member and the mobile conductor member.

Abstract: A fixing end for cores used for reeling including wedge pieces movable in an axial direction and bevelled holes bored on the outer circumference of the fixing end and out of which a holding surface of the wedge pieces ascends for locking the fixing end securely to an inner surface of the core. The radial motion of the holding surface of the wedge piece into and out of the hole, i.e, relative to the outer surface of the fixing end, is forced-controlled and the forced-control is provided by means of the axial motion of the wedge piece.

Abstract: A method and device in the regulation of the headbox of a paper machine/board machine, in which additional flows are introduced into the pulp suspension at different points across the width of the headbox. The concentration of the additional flows is different than the average concentration of the pulp suspension. The additional flows are introduced through additional-flow pipes to the vicinity of inlet openings of turbulence tubes of a turbulence generator. The grammage profile of the web in the direction of width of the web is regulated in the headbox by adjusting the distance of the end of the additional-flow pipe/pipes from the turbulence generator, whereby the amount of the additional flow entering into the additional-flow pipes and, at the same time, the amount of the pulp suspension flow are regulated.
Abstract: A method in the regulation of a pulp suspension flow through the headbox of a paper machine/board machine wherein an additional flow is introduced into the pulp suspension at different points across the width of the headbox. The concentration of the additional flow is regulated by a mixer unit which includes a displaceable distributor part such that when the mixing ratio is being regulated, the flow resistances of the component flows, of the additional flow, entering into the mixer unit are adjusted by displacing the distributor part of the mixer unit in a chamber of the mixer unit.

Abstract: Patients are treated with 24-hour oral sustained release opioid formulations which, upon administration, provide an initially rapid opioid absorption such that the minimum effective analgesic concentration of the opioid is more quickly achieved. These sustained release opioid formulations include an effective amount of at least one retardant material to cause said opioid analgesic to be released at a such a rate as to provide an analgesic effect after oral administration to a human patient for at least about 24 hours, and are characterized by providing an absorption half-life from 1 to about 8 hours. A method of titrating a human patient utilizing these sustained release opioid formulations is also disclosed.

Abstract: A microwave-heatable pressure reactor is provided for continuous or discontinuous treatment of liquid. The liquid is conveyed by means of a high-pressure pump in a pipeline which extends into a microwave-heatable zone of the pressure container into which it finally lets out through the free opening with a volume of pipe sufficient for the treatment of a desired quantity of liquid.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for bending a heat-exchanger tube, which heat-exchanger tube have heat-exchanger ribs preferably having a needle construction. In the method and apparatus, the heat-exchanger tubes are placed one above the other to be defined by one another to form a battery. The battery of heat-exchanger tubes is fed first into a first bending-device portion of the bending device in which the heat-exchanger tube is bent in one direction. After this, the tube battery is fed further, and the bending is performed in the second bending-device portion in the opposite direction of bending, whereby a wave-shaped form is obtained.
Abstract: A controlled release composition including spheroid cores of diltiazem or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and optionally a spheronizing agent, the cores being coated with a controlled release layer, and a method of manufacturing the same, is disclosed. The spheronizing agent when present is preferably microcrystalline cellulose. Ethylcellulose is a preferred release coating. The controlled release coating preferably contains a plasticizer, a surfactant and a tack-modifier.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a controlled release formulation which includes a therapeutically active medicament, a heterodisperse gum matrix, a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent, and an effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable surfactant and/or wetting agent to provide a multi-phasic controlled release of a therapeutically active medicament. The invention also relates to a method of preparing the same.
Abstract: A sustained release pharmaceutical formulation includes a sustained release excipient including a gelling agent, an inert pharmaceutical diluent, an optional cationic cross-linking agent, and a medicament having moderate to poor solubility is disclosed. In certain embodiments, the sustained release excipient is granulated with a solution or suspension of a hydrophobic polymer in an amount effective to slow the hydration of the gelling agent when the formulation is exposed to an environmental fluid. In another embodiment, the tablet is coated with a hydrophobic polymer.
Abstract: A hood for a wire part and/or a press section in a paper/board machine including walls and a ceiling which form a closed hood around the wire part and/or press section, air-conditioning or another air-control system being arranged in connection with the hood. The hood walls have outer and inner walls which define an air duct therebetween for passing a replacement air flow into the interior of the hood, preferably toward a middle area of the paper machine, through openings in the inner wall, the replacement air keeping the interior of the hood substantially dry and clean. The walls of the hood include a vertical side wall at the driving side, which wall is preferably fixed, and a tending-side vertical side wall and a ceiling formed as a single wall which is preferably L-shaped and displaceable. The displaceable hood wall at the tending side has two parts so that the first hood wall is placed by the wire section and the second hood wall is placed by the press section.

Abstract: A decontamination valve for a jet pipe in a paper or board machine, including a disc valve having a closed position and an open position. The disc valve is in the closed position when the jet pipe is in operation and is in the open position when the jet pipe is being cleaned in order to remove cleaning/washing water used in the cleaning process. The disc valve is arranged to close in the same direction in which pressure effective in the jet pipe attempts to shift the valve.
Abstract: Method and device in the press section of a paper machine for detaching a web from a smooth mantle face of a press roll. In the method and device, a transfer zone is employed, over which a press fabric or a particular transfer fabric is passed so as to accomplish a closed draw of the web. The transfer zone as well as the fabric form a transfer nip or a transfer zone with the roll face. At the transfer point, the temperature level of the roll face and/or of the web is set or regulated so high that the pressure of saturated vapor of the water present in connection with the web and with the roll face which corresponds to the temperature level is substantially equally high as, or just little higher than, the pressure that has been set to prevail in the transfer zone, the pressure being preferably lower than the atmospheric pressure.
Abstract: New cellulosic materials derive from pulps having an ISO brightness of from 80 to about 90 are disclosed. The celluloses substantially match the color of the food products admixed therewith to provide food products such as sauces, emulsions, frozen desserts, reduced fat products and the like with substantially uniform color. The invention also includes substantially non-agglomerating particulate cheese products such as grated or shredded cheeses in admixture with cellulose derived from a pulp having the ISO qualities described above. The cellulose is present in an amount which is sufficient to substantially prevent agglomeration of the particulate cheese product yet is sensorially undetected. Other aspects of the invention include methods of preparing the liquid, semi-solid or frozen food products containing the selected cellulose as well as methods of preparing the substantially non-agglomerating cheese product.
