  • Patent number: 6831522
Abstract: A method is provided for optimizing the performance of laser-pumped atomic frequency references with respect to the laser detuning and other operating parameters. This method is based on the new understanding that the frequency references short-term instability is minimized when (a) the laser frequency is tuned nominally a few tens of MHz away from the center of the atomic absorption line, and (b) the external oscillator lock modulation frequency is set either far below or far above the inverse of the optical pumping time of the atoms.

  • Patent number: 6827984
Abstract: Wood products, specifically wood commonly used in construction including dimension lumber, pressure treated pine, composite wood materials such as plywood, particle board, and wafer board, and samples of paper and fabric were variously treated with concentrations of sodium silicate (Na2O.SiO2) also known as water glass. Cellulosic materials including dimension lumber, plywood, particle board, wafer board, paper, and fabric were treated with sodium silicate (Na2O.SiO2) in concentrations ranging from 400-0.04 g Na2O.SiO2/kg water. To overcome the disadvantages of sodium silicate, sodium silicate treated samples were further treated to convert the water soluble sodium silicate to a water insoluble form, thereby overcoming the disadvantages of water solubility. and rendering the material effective for internal and external uses.

Each male edge includes a tongue that extends outwardly from the male edge and a longitudinally extending void that extends inwardly of the tongue. Each female edge includes a groove having a protrusion position within the groove and extending outwardly from the groove generally parallel to the first surface. An adjacent panel may be linked to a fixed panel such that the tongue engages the groove and the protrusion engages the void. The invention also includes a method for assembling a generally planar surface using interlockable panels such as the above-mentioned.

  • Patent number: 6773799
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a decorative mainly isometric thermosetting laminate (1) comprising an isometric core (2), a primary surface layer (10) and optionally a secondary surface layer (20). 85 parts by weight of preferably organic particles are mixed with 15-85 parts by weight of a thermosetting resin such as phenol-formaldehyde resin, melamine-formaldehyde resin, urea-formaldehyde resin or mixtures thereof under powerful kneading in an extruder sot hat friction heat forms. The thermosetting resin is hereby bonded to or impregnating the particles. The particles possibly bonded to one another are parted whereby an agglomerate of resin and particles is formed. The particle/resin mixture is then dried to a water content of below 10%. The dried particle/resin mixture is then evenly distributed and continuously or discontinuously compressed in one or more steps under heat and pressure so that the resin finally cures, whereby an isometric core (2) is formed.
