  • Patent number: 8351850
Abstract: An apparatus for emitting and receiving radio-frequency signals includes a circuit to cancel interference. The apparatus transmits and receives signals using an antenna, and isolates the transmission and receiving circuitry. The circuit taps a first part of a signal to be transmitted, and controls the amplitude and phase of this signal. The circuit then introduces the first part of the signal into the receiver after the first part of the signal has been amplified and phase-shifted, so as to cancel in the receiver interference due to portions of the signal that have undesirably entered the receiver.

  • Patent number: 8342508
Abstract: A system for transporting an object between stations, for example, from a magazine to a conveyor is provided having a rotary apparatus having two arms, wherein a first arm rocks back and forth between two positions and a second arm rotates about an axis on the first arm. The second arm can be fixedly connected to a holder having one or more suction heads for grasping the object. Preferably, the holder is arranged parallel to the object and moved in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the object as the object is removed from the magazine. Additionally, the holder is preferably displaced above the conveyor and positioned to be parallel to the conveyor, after which the holder is moved toward the conveyor in a path that is perpendicular to the plane of the conveyor. Therefore, the lateral force, shearing force, and friction exerted on the object during removal from the magazine and deposition onto the conveyor can be minimized.

  • Patent number: 8340983
Abstract: A method and system for furnishing an on-line quote for an insurance product, such as auto insurance, the user is allowed to enter basic user information on an on-line quote system application which calls a common data entry system to request credit information for the user. The common data entry system sends the requested credit information to the on-line quote system application, and the user is allowed to enter a selection of coverage. The user is then allowed to enter underwriting information on the on-line quote system application which calls a rating engine of the common data entry system to request rating information. The on-line quote system application displays a quote for the user based at least in part on the rating information, and the user is offered an option to talk to an agent. A fast-forward feature simplifies the entry of modifications for the user.

  • Patent number: 8334799
Abstract: Detecting and grading the state and evolution of wake turbulence caused by an aircraft is made on the basis of radar signals reflected by this turbulence, these signals being analyzed through analysis cells of given dimension in terms of distance and bearing. A first preliminary detection step detects and locates turbulence in a cell. A second step determines the strength of the detected turbulence, while a third step determines the age of the detected turbulence as well as the geometric parameters which characterize it. This method makes it possible to detect wake turbulence and to determine at one and the same time the position and the strength of the latter as well as its stage of evolution.

  • Patent number: 8335978
Abstract: In a semiconductor storage device 10 included in a liquid container 20, on reception of an encoding request for encoding readout data, a write-read controller 140 changes over the position of a switch 141 to output encoded readout data, which is obtained by an encoding operation in a data encoding circuit 150, to a data signal terminal SDAT. In the case of no reception of the encoding request for encoding the readout data, on the other hand, the write-read controller 140 changes over the position of the switch 141 to output raw data read out from a memory array 100 to the data signal terminal SDAT.
