Abstract: An ink tank cartridge for use in an ink jet recorder has a container having exterior walls, a porous member is stored in the container, an ink supply port that extends through one of the exterior walls of the body to supply ink to the exterior of the cartridge, and a packing member, disposed within the ink supply port and having an opening therethrough and a rib formed on a upper surface. A pressing member may be provided to bias the packing member against an inner surface of the ink supply port. The ink tank cartridge can be assembled to limit the occurrence of air bubbles in the ink.
Abstract: An ink cartridge including: an ink chamber for retaining liquid ink; a foam chamber maintained in fluid communication with the ink chamber through a communication hole. An ink supply port for supplying ink from a porous body accommodated in the foam chamber to a recording head is provided. The portion of the foam body confronting the ink supply port is compressed by the ink supply port. The ratio between the amount of ink initially charged in the ink chamber and that of ink absorbed in the porous body is in the range from 1:1 to 1:3. When a cartridge uses more than one color of ink for printing in color, a plurality of foam and ink cartridges are used. The cartridge is filled under reduced pressure while the interior of the cartridge is further evacuated before filling with ink.

Abstract: A dispenser comprises a frame that supports a roll of adhesive tape, a handle, a flexible spatula for applying the cut end of the tape, and a cutting blade. The flexible spatula forms a right-angled member having a main arm and another arm which supports the cutting blade. The right-angled member is mounted so as to be rotatable between a rest position, in which the cutting blade is pressed by a spring against a protective member, and a working position, in which the cutting blade is lifted from the protective member so that serrations thereon intersect the path of the adhesive tape. This protective member has a face, on which the blade rests, and which ends in a projecting lip, forming a frontal protection for the serrations on the blade.

Abstract: A method of taking an extended X-ray photograph by using an imaging plate or a computed radiography cassette devised to contain a longer digital X-ray image such that a longer complete image of a subject may be rendered such that no diagnostic information is lost in examinations of scoliosis or the long bones of the body. When the cassette is exposed to X-rays through an object, an X-ray transmission image of the object is recorded on a stimulable phosphor sheet and, at the same time, the X-ray film is exposed to light instantaneously emitted from the stimulable phosphor sheet upon exposure to X-rays to record an extended photographic latent image of the X-ray transmission image of the object on the X-ray film or a photostimulable phosphor sheet alone.
Abstract: A mainspring used as a power source for a driving mechanism is made of an amorphous metal sheet, and has an S-shaped free-exploded shape. The curvature changing point where the curving direction of the free-exploded shape changes is formed on the inner end side of a middle point between the inner end on the winding side and the outer end serving as the other end of the inner end. Because of the high tensile stress and a low Young's modulus, the amorphous metal permits increase in mechanical energy stored in the mainspring.
Abstract: A liquid cartridge for supplying liquid to a liquid ejecting apparatus, includes: a liquid accommodating part for holding the liquid; a channel for allowing the liquid in the liquid accommodating part to flow to the outside of the liquid accommodating part; and a check valve for preventing air from getting into the liquid accommodating part via the channel in a case where the channel is opened to the atmosphere with the channel faced upward and allowing backward flow of liquid from the liquid ejecting apparatus to the liquid accommodating part while the channel is connected to the liquid ejecting apparatus.
Abstract: A twist tie feed device is provided for twisting together the ends of a tie ribbon which encircles a product including a base plate. A twist head assembly can be mounted on a base plate and receives a first end of a tie ribbon which encircles the product and a second end of the encircling tie ribbon and will rotate about itself to twist the tie ribbon about the product. Positive drive wheels and idler working in conjuction feed the ribbon in one of a first direction towards the twist head assembly and a second direction away from the twist head assembly. The positive drive wheels can contact the ribbon at one side and the idler can contact the ribbon on the other side to apply a positive drive force to the drive the ribbon as it passes between the drive wheels and idler. The ribbon can be fed in the second direction away from the twist head assembly, thereby tightening the ribbon about the product.
Abstract: An ink cartridge and an ink cartridge holder for maintaining the relative position between the information reading section of the ink cartridge holder and the information storing unit of the ink cartridge, which should be aligned accurately, even if the ink cartridge has instability to the ink cartridge holder due to the variation in each products. The ink cartridge which supplies ink to a recording apparatus includes: a substantially rectangular parallelepiped ink cartridge main body holding the ink; a connection electrode section provided on a part of a first side of the ink cartridge main body and including a connection terminal; an ink supply unit provided in a front surface which intersects the first wall; and a positioning section guiding a positioning member of the recording apparatus to the vicinity of the connection electrode on the front surface so that the positioning member opposes to the connection electrode section in the direction parallel with the connection electrode section.

Abstract: A method for measuring a bandwidth of a signal path between a data source and a data recipient involves sending a block of test data from the data source along the signal path to the data recipient, using that test data to obtain a measured bandwidth of the signal path, and transferring information from the data source along the signal path to the data recipient in accordance with the measured bandwidth. The measured bandwidth value can be calculated each time the data recipient accesses a website or the measured bandwidth value can be retained for future use.
Abstract: A method and system for transmitting a voice message to an electronic address, generally includes establishing a data connection between a first server of a voice messaging system and a wireless device so as to enable a user to access an electronic mail account. The first server then captures a wireless device identifier and accesses an association of the wireless device identifier to a telephone number of the wireless device. A call is then initiated from the wireless device to a second server of the voice messaging system to record a voice message. The previously stored recipient electronic address is retrieved using the captured telephone number and an email including a link to the voice message is generated. The email is then transmitted to the recipient electronic address.
