  • Patent number: 6606629
Abstract: A data structure contains sequence number metadata which identifies an input/output (I/O) operation such as a full stripe write on a redundant array of independent disks (RAID) mass storage system, and also contains revision number metadata which identifies a subsequent I/O operation such as a read modify write on only a fractional component of the entire user data. The sequence number and revision number metadata are used in an error detection and correction technique, along with parity metadata, to detect and correct silent errors arising from inadvertent data path and drive data corruption. An error to a portion of the stripe is detected by a difference in sequence numbers for all of the components of data. An error arising after an I/O operation is detected by a revision number which is different from the correct revision number.

  • Patent number: 6573767
Abstract: A power ground short circuit with adjustable activation delay and activation time period eliminates latent voltages in the power down/ off discharging circuitry. The circuit uses an internal back up power storage device to supply power on power down. A comparator determines when the power down condition occurs. Two timers are used to generate an activation signal for a charge pump. The charge pump is responsible for turning on a pair of transistors which bring the power bus voltage down to a zero level. A slew rate detector enables the comparator.

  • Patent number: 6562615
Abstract: The present invention provides improved chlortetracycline-containing animal feed compositions and processes and apparatuses for their preparation. In certain embodiments, raw fermentation broth comprising chlortetracycline is divided into two portions. The first portion is mixed with a compound that complexes chlortetracycline. The second portion is acidified and the solids are removed. The acidified liquid is treated with a complexing agent to produced a chlortetracycline complex. The first and second portions thus treated are then mixed and the mixture is passed on to a filter press or other means for separation of the solids to produce a wet cake comprising complexed chlortetracycline.

  • Patent number: 6558135
Abstract: A two stage reciprocating piston oil free air compressor having an improved service interval. In a first stage, a first wobble piston is reciprocated in a first cylinder to compress ambient air to an intermediate pressure. In a second stage a second wobble piston is reciprocated in a second cylinder to compress the intermediate pressure air to a desired high pressure. Each wobble piston is provided with a seal which seals to the adjacent cylinder walls as the piston reciprocates and rocks. The stroke of the higher pressure second stage piston is less than the stroke of the lower pressure first stage piston to increase the operating life of the second seal, preferably to substantially the same operating life as the first seal.

  • Patent number: 6540834
Abstract: A wallpaper dispensing apparatus includes a tray with a ridge projecting from the bottom and extending transversely between the side walls to divide the tray into a forward pool section and a rearward trough section. A removable cover is attached to the forward pool section and includes a pair of depressions with guide surfaces on the bottom, spaced above the bottom of the tray to form a passageway between the cover and tray bottom. the cover has a rearward portion following a portion of the ridge, and a straight rearward edge extending transversely across the tray. An opening in the cover, extending from the forward edge permits the user to draw a strip of wallpaper from a roll located in the trough, through the passageway between the cover and tray, and out the forward end of the tray. Water in the pool portion wets the wallpaper as it is drawn from the dispensing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6541718
Abstract: A full power switch assembly for a portable generator that is capable of instantly communicating the presence and operation of a full power switch to the user is disclosed. The full power switch assembly includes a first outlet for supplying electrical power having a first voltage (e.g., 120 VAC), a second outlet for supplying electrical power having a second voltage (e.g., 240 VAC), and a switch including a selector. The selector is movable from a first position to a second position for causing the first outlet to be capable of supplying electrical power up to a maximum power level. Movement of the selector between the first position and the second position further causes indicia to be displayed for indicating whether the first outlet is capable of supplying electrical power up to the maximum power level.

  • Patent number: 6535969
Abstract: A method and system for allocating and freeing memory in an electronic system allocates available memory by including at least one or more flags that indicate the size and status of the allocated segment in the same area in which the segment is allocated. A free portion in the available memory is searched such that the free portion is sufficient to accommodate the requested segment. Upon finding a free portion, a new segment is created in the free portion where the new segment includes an allocated segment equal in size to the requested segment and further includes a segment area that accommodates at least one flag of the allocated segment such that the segment area is adjacent to the allocated segment. At least one flag of the allocated segment is set, and may include a size flag or a status flag that indicates whether the allocated segment is occupied and whether the allocated segment is the last segment.
