  • Patent number: 7034413
Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for supplementing power when a power supply has a power failure. An amount of inrush current produced upon resumption of input power is reduced. Supplemental power circuitry may include a rechargeable battery that may supply power during a power failure without generating a large inrush current when input power is regained. The period of time supplemental power may be provided is also increased.

  • Patent number: 7028199
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus of automatic power management control for Serial ATA interface. In an exemplary aspect of the present invention, an idle or active condition of Serial ATA interface is automatically detected. When Serial ATA is in an idle condition, idle time of Serial ATA interface is counted using a power down counter whose frequency is determined by a programmable register based on input clock. When a power down counter value is equal to a first value, a request for a Partial power state is asserted, and Serial ATA interface is put into a Partial power state. When a power down counter value is equal to a second value, a request for a Slumber power state is asserted, and Serial ATA interface is put into a Slumber power state.

  • Patent number: 7025573
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a suitcase style air compressor assembly having an extensible handle bar assembly, a wheel assembly, and a integral storage container. When the extensible handle bar assembly is fully extended, the suitcase style air compressor assembly may be transported by utilizing the extensible handle bar assembly and the wheel assembly. When the suitcase style air compressor assembly reaches a worksite, the extensible handle bar assembly may be retracted so that the suitcase style air compressor assembly does not occupy a large space. The air compressor includes a storage container for storing air hoses, power cords, tools, and the like.

  • Patent number: 7021514
Abstract: An apparatus which enables a user of a pneumatic tool device, such as a nail gun, to determine the required compressor pressure needed to most effectively utilize the pneumatic tool device and maximize the life of the tool. A compressor pressure indication assembly on a nail gun comprising a nail verification assembly and a readout assembly enables a user to verify the length and/or diameter of the nails to be driven by the nail gun and set the compressor pressure accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7022924
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a wireless electrical control system for power tool and specifically to a wireless control device for a router. The electrical control system may include a handle suitable for manipulating a router. A switch and a wireless transmitter are disposed in the handle. Communicatively coupled to the transmitter is a wireless receiver capable of receiving the transmissions from the transmitter in the handle. In alternative embodiments the wireless receiver is disposed in the router itself or the receiver is disposed in an outlet unit, which is capable of electrically coupling to the router's electrical cord and an electrical outlet. The wireless receiver of the present invention is capable of controlling the flow of electricity to the electrical system of the router so that the router is capable of being altered from the switch mounted on the handle, thus allowing users to change the power setting while retaining secure control of the router.

  • Patent number: 7012974
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a detector for a high-density magnetic recording channel and other partial response channels. The present invention presents a method for decoding a high rate product code and a decoder which uses this method, comprising receiving a high rate product code; using a row detector to find a most likely codeword and a most likely error sequence for each row; and using a column processor to correct any remaining errors based on column parity bits and the most likely error sequence of each row. In a first aspect of the present invention, the row detector is implemented through a 2-VA detector. In a second aspect of the present invention, the row detector is implemented through a conventional VA detector and a hank of matched filters.

  • Patent number: 7010711
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus of automatic power management control for Serial ATA interface. In an exemplary aspect of the present invention, an idle or active condition of a Serial ATA interface including a NCQ Serial ATA device is automatically detected. In this step, it is determined, preferably based on a value of the FPDMA (First Party Direct Memory Access) bit in a Task File Ram of the Serial ATA interface, whether the NCQ Serial ATA device is in a FPDMA Data Phase. When the NCQ Serial ATA device is in a FPDMA Data Phase, the Serial ATA interface is active (i.e., not idle). When Serial ATA is in an idle condition, idle time of Serial ATA interface is measured using a power down counter whose frequency is determined by a programmable register based on an input clock. When a power down counter value is equal to a first value, a request for a Partial power state is asserted, and Serial ATA interface is put into a Partial power state.

  • Patent number: 7007122
Abstract: An interface system capable of providing pre-emptive arbitration among multiple agents comprises an interface including at least a first agent and a second agent which share the interface for transferring data, the second agent having priority over the first agent for access to the interface. A pre-emptive arbiter provides arbitration between the first agent and the second agent when at least one of a first transfer request signal is asserted by the first agent for requesting access to the interface by the first agent and a second transfer request signal is asserted by the second agent for requesting access to the interface by the second agent. The pre-emptive arbiter is capable of synthesizing a transfer completion signal on the interface for preempting access of the first agent to the interface so that access may be granted to the second agent.
