Abstract: A golf swing training device is disclosed that includes a substantially planar surface. In use, the surface acts as a guide for the movement of a golfer's shoulders when the golfer executes a substantial portion of a backswing.
Abstract: The invention is a method for the late introduction of additives into polyethylene terephthalate. The method employs a reactive carrier that functions as a delivery vehicle for one or more additives. The reactive carrier reacts with the polyethylene terephthalate, thereby binding the reactive carrier in the polyethylene terephthalate resin and preventing the emergence of the reactive carrier and additives from the polyethylene terephthalate during subsequent thermal processing.
Abstract: A computer security device for controlling the passage of data signals to and from a computer allows the operator to control access to that computer by outside parties. The device is a switch that can be connected to or disconnected from a computer in modular fashion. The switch may include a rotatable lever connected to a contact body with a plurality of data paths thereon. The communication paths are connected or disconnected to data lines by arcuate movement of the lever. The switching mechanism may be a spring board within a platform. Moving the spring board in and out of the plane of the platform connects and disconnects data lines to the computer. The switch may be a rotary switch that turns to connect and disconnect the data lines. The device may also be a single throw, twelve pole switch that allows data connection or disconnection.

Abstract: A spinal restraint device includes a body member with a head support portion, a neck support portion, and a back support portion. Left and right body wrap portions extend from the back support portion, and left and right head wrap portions extend from the neck support portion, and these portions respectively wrap around an individual's torso and head and are secured to each other to secure the torso and head against movement. A chest flap section is provided in the left and right body wrap portions for folding away from the individual's chest, for comfort or for better access to the chest area. Declaration buckles and straps are also provided for securing the spinal restraint device (and individual) to a support board or stretcher. Other benefits are realized from the positioning of securing straps and leg straps and the dimensions of the body wrap portions.

Abstract: A micro-sized gas detecting device with two electrodes separated by a gap of width ranging from 1 to 500 microns, where the detection is based on emission spectroscopy of gases in an electric discharge across the gap (discharge region) as the gas flows through the region. The characteristic light emitted by molecules during the discharge can be detected directly with photodiodes or transferred through optical fiber and detected with remote optical sensing components. The device can have single or multiple discharge regions in an array so that light emitted can be monitored at different wavelengths simultaneously. The device can operate under gaseous pressure ranging from a few milli-Torr to a few atmospheres. The device consumes little power (50 mW-100 mW) and can be powered with an alternating current and has the potential to be battery powered.
Abstract: A semiconductor device is disclosed that includes a contact and an adjacent film on the surface of an underlying doped semiconductor material. The film has sufficient fixed charge to create an inversion layer adjacent the surface of the doped semiconductor material that under depletion conditions at least balances the number of surface states at the doping concentration of the underlying semiconductor material.
Abstract: Disclosed are a slurry composition for chemical mechanical polishing and a precursor composition thereof. The polishing slurry composition includes deionized water, abrasive particles, a pH-adjusting agent and a surfactant, wherein the surfactant includes two or more ionic moieties and two or more lipophilic groups. The polishing slurry composition can polish convex surfaces of a semiconductor having a step height at a higher rate than the polishing rate for concave surfaces acting as polishing stop layers of the semiconductor so that the polishing can be self-stopped, reduces the occurrence of surface defects after the polishing process, and has a high degree of polishing planarization and good dispersion stability.
