Abstract: Spatial spreading is performed in a multi-antenna system to randomize an “effective” channel observed by a receiving entity for each transmitted data symbol block. For a MIMO system, at a transmitting entity, data is processed (e.g., encoded, interleaved, and modulated) to obtain ND data symbol blocks to be transmitted in NM transmission spans, where ND?1 and NM>1. The ND blocks are partitioned into NM data symbol subblocks, one subblock for each transmission span. A steering matrix is selected (e.g., in a deterministic or pseudo-random manner from among a set of L steering matrices, where L>1) for each subblock. Each data symbol subblock is spatially processed with the steering matrix selected for that subblock to obtain transmit symbols, which are further processed and transmitted via NT transmit antennas in one transmission span. The ND data symbol blocks are thus spatially processed with NM steering matrices and observe an ensemble of channels.

Abstract: A method is provided whereby a placement-based cost function is utilized to minimize leakage and dynamic power that is consumed by clock networks implemented within integrated circuits (ICs) such as field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). An initial placement of clock signal loads is analyzed to determine whether an alternative placement of clock signal loads results in the reduction of the usage of vertical clock spines, or equivalently, the optimization of the cost function. Several desirable characteristics are obtained through strategic clock signal load placement within the FPGA in accordance with the cost function. First, the number of clock regions spanned by a particular clock signal is minimized. Second, interconnect capacitance within the clock region is also minimized. By minimizing the total capacitance of a particular clock network implemented within a clock region, the leakage and dynamic power consumed by the clock network within the clock region is also minimized.

Abstract: The invention in one variation is a stand-off disrupter apparatus that includes a delivery vessel having an enlarged rounded front end with an apex and an elongate cylindrical section that in part serves to fit the apparatus onto the barrel of a shotgun. The shotgun provides propulsion. The apparatus has fins, a sighting system, a firing pin system that fires on impact, a shell loaded with shot housed in a shell chamber, and a layer of disruption medium sealed in a dish forward of the shell and set-back from the apex. The disruption medium is energized on impact by the shot from the shell and a force of the impact. The energized disruption medium can neutralize an improvised explosive device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing an option to auto-generate a thread on a web forum in response to a change in topic are described. When a post is received on a thread in the web forum, wherein the thread includes one or more thread keywords and wherein each of the one or more thread keywords are associated with a relevancy score, the post is searched for the one or more thread keywords. The relevancy scores of any of the one or more thread keywords located within the post are added together to obtain a post total relevancy score. A query is then provided, to a user, for example, to auto-generate a new thread on the web forum when the post total relevancy score is less than a threshold relevancy score.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a capability to backup cellular telephone provisioning information and personal data from a mobile handset on a server. A user initializes an account with a service provider with authentication credentials and backs up provisioning information and personal data stored within a mobile handset to server for safe keeping. The provisioning information and personal data can be accessed via the cellular telephone network so that the provisioning and personal data can be transferred among mobile handsets. This allows a user to restore personal data quickly and easily if a mobile handset replaced, lost or destroyed. The system and method further provide the capability to remotely provision new mobile handsets.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for creating an array of features on a surface based on content transferred from a plurality of beads to the surface. Nucleic acid content can be transferred using a method including the steps of (a) providing a surface having one or more primer oligonucleotides attached to the surface; (b) providing a pool of beads, wherein beads in the pool have a plurality of templates attached thereto, the plurality comprising multiple copies of a single nucleic acid template sequence; (c) arraying the beads onto the surface by hybridizing the templates to the primer oligonucleotides; and (d) extending the primers to produce copies of the templates attached to the surface.

Abstract: Techniques for deriving temporary identifiers (IDs) used to address specific user equipments (UEs) in a wireless communication network are described. At a network entity, a first ID assigned to a UE and additional information such as, e.g., a salt value and/or shared secret data for the UE, are transformed to obtain a second ID for the UE. The first ID and/or the shared secret data may be updated, e.g., whenever a signaling message is sent to the UE. A signaling message directed to the UE is generated based on the second ID and sent via a common channel. At the UE, a message is received via the common channel. The first ID and additional information such as, e.g., a salt value obtained from the received message and/or shared secret data for the UE, are transformed to obtain the second ID, which is used to determine whether the received message is intended for the UE.
