  • Patent number: 8223729
Abstract: Techniques for selecting a radio interface for an application are described. A terminal identifies locally-addressable and globally-addressable wireless networks among wireless networks available to the terminal. Radio interfaces supported by the terminal may be prioritized based on the locally-addressable and globally-addressable wireless networks, information obtained for the application, the application type, etc. Different applications may have different radio interface preferences or requirements, which may be considered in prioritizing the radio interfaces. A suitable radio interface may be selected for the application based on the prioritized radio interfaces. WLAN interface may be selected for the application if (a) the WLAN interface is preferred and any WLAN is acceptable to the application or (b) a globally-addressable WLAN is available. A WLAN interface may be selected for the application if a globally-addressable WLAN is not available.

  • Patent number: 8224304
Abstract: Methods and systems for disambiguating entries within a contacts listing database of a mobile device detect newly created contact records having a same data element (e.g., a telephone number) and alert the user. Other contact records storing the same data element may be identified. Matching contact records may be grouped and provided a group label so that when a call is received from a member of the group, the mobile device can identify the caller using the group label. Call logs can similarly be disambiguated by informing a user when a call has been made to or received from a number that matches values in data fields of more than one contact record and enabling the user to edit or augment information recorded in the call log to properly reflect the identity of the other party to the call.

  • Patent number: 8220479
Abstract: A multi-stage pressure regulator in which pressure is first reduced by a set ratio in one or more stages followed by an adjustable pressure output stage. The system of the present invention provides for distribution of the Joules-Thomson (JT) cooling effect between multiple stages. The present invention thereby provides a system to control pressure reduction and thus prevent condensation (and associated distortion of a vapor composition sample) of a gas due to J-T cooling effect.

  • Patent number: 8222305
Abstract: A hydrocarbon synthesis process (10) includes feeding gaseous reactants (18) into a slurry bed (14), allowing the gaseous reactants (18) to react catalytically, thereby to form liquid and gaseous hydrocarbon products, and subjecting a product mixture comprising liquid product and catalyst particles in a filtration stage to filtration, by passing the liquid product through a filtering medium (30) to separate catalyst particles from the liquid product. The gaseous products are withdrawn (23) and cooled to form a multi-phase product which is separated to produce at least a hydrocarbon condensate stream (88) and a tail-gas stream (84). At least a portion of the hydrocarbon condensate stream (88) is treated (96) to remove oxygenated components therefrom, producing a backflush condensate. From time to time, the filtering medium (30) of the filtration stage is backflushed by passing the backflush condensate through the filtering medium (30).

  • Patent number: 8225120
Abstract: Snoop response logic on a system bus is configured to detect on the system bus requests to access data at a target address with data exclusivity from at least one of a plurality of wake-and-go engines. The snoop response logic is further configured to determine a winning wake-and-go engine from the at least one wake-and-go engine that obtains a lock on the target address and generate a combined snoop response. The combined snoop response identifies the winning wake-and-go engine. The snoop response logic sends the combined snoop response to the at least one wake-and-go engine on the system bus. Each remaining wake-and-go engine within the at least one wake-and-go engine places an entry in its respective wake-and-go storage array to spin on a lock for the target address.

  • Patent number: 8224283
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for determining an available FM frequency channel for interfacing with FM modulated output signals from a wireless device are described herein. A SPS receiver, such as a GPS receiver, can determine its position based on conventional techniques. The SPS receiver can determine one or more available FM channels over which audio output may be transmitted. The SPS receiver can use the determined position to access a local data base of available channels. Alternatively, the SPS receiver can use the determined position to access a local database of allocated channels in order to determine one or more available channels. The SPS receiver may display a prompt or message that indicates an FM channel over which output audio is modulated.
