  • Patent number: 7570091
Abstract: A determination unit of a power-on reset circuit of a semiconductor integrated circuit is provided that ANDs (1) a first monitoring signal output from a first monitoring unit for monitoring when a first source voltage supplied from outside the semiconductor integrated circuit reaches a predetermined level and (2) a second monitoring signal output from a second monitoring unit for monitoring when an internal source voltage reaches a predetermined level, to produce a reset signal. In the determination unit, a first PMOS is inserted in series with a second PMOS connected between the first source voltage and a node. The conducting state of the second PMOS is controlled by the second monitoring signal. The conducting state of the first PMOS is controlled by the reset signal. Thus, even when the second monitoring signal becomes unstable and the second PMOS and a first NMOS are simultaneously turned on, the first PMOS is turned off, thus causing no flow of through current.

  • Patent number: 7500439
Abstract: The present invention concerns a buoyant fluid comprising a liquid and a plurality of rigid containers, the rigid containers each having a sealed void containing a gas. A particular use is to transport heavy objects subsea. The gas in the rigid containers provides buoyancy but does not compress at different subsea pressures. Therefore effective buoyancy control subsea is much easier compared to known methods. For certain embodiments, a secured supply container may be provided subsea to supply the liquid and rigid containers to a lifting device having a container therefor and an attachment mechanism secured to the object being transported. The liquid is preferably a biodegradable substance such as vegetable oil.

  • Patent number: 7482421
Abstract: A silane film that can be used in a wide range of environments, on metals of engineering interest, as a standalone process or as a primer for a top-coating by common paint systems. The film generally comprises: a) at least one bis-silane; b) a water soluble or dispersible polymer; c) nanoparticles; and, d) a water soluble solvent. It is also within the scope of the present invention to include a leachable inhibitor into the silane film. In sum, the present invention teaches a silane composition that may be applied by dipping, wiping, spraying, brushing, or other conventional techniques, whereby the film composition provides a metal treatment that is water soluble and may provide the availability of the coating to “heal” by utilizing a leachable inhibitor whenever damage occurs from scrapes or scratches.

  • Patent number: 7442360
Abstract: The present invention includes methods and apparatuses that utilize microchannel technology and, more specifically in exemplary form, producing hydrogen peroxide using microchannel technology. An exemplary process for producing hydrogen peroxide comprises flowing feed streams into intimate fluid communication with one another within a process microchannel to form a reactant mixture stream comprising a hydrogen source and an oxygen source such as, without limitation, hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. Thereafter, a catalyst is contacted by the reactant mixture and is operative to convert a majority of the reactant mixture to hydrogen peroxide that is withdrawn via an egressing product stream. During the hydrogen peroxide chemical reaction, exothermic energy is generated. This exothermic energy is absorbed by the fluid within the microchannel as well as the microchannel itself.

  • Patent number: 7444390
Abstract: A computerized file system is accessible over the Internet or other type of network, in which certain “triggering events” pertaining to the operation of the file system automatically generate a notification message to users. Once a user has been authenticated, this user's access rights are determined. An Automatic Notification function checks to see if any “triggering” events have occurred when a user performs a particular task. The Automatic Notification function defines what type of event will become a triggering event, and also defines what will be the triggering action, once the triggering event occurs, and stores this information in a database. The Auto-notification function can comprise programs that are launched to perform certain tasks. The precise type of auto-notification message is fully configurable for each component in the file system.
