  • Patent number: 7440995
Abstract: A storage medium is encoded with a server program readable by a computer or computational user interface and launchable by the computer or computational user interface from the storage medium or from another storage medium to which it has been copied or from both. The server program does not require any manipulation of any storage medium from which it is launched. A method for accessing an information resource includes obtaining a static storage medium encoded with a stand-alone server program. The server program is linkable to an information resource residing at least in part on the Internet. The server program is launched from the static storage medium. The web browser is launched. A request for data to be obtained from the information resource residing on the Internet is sent using the web browser. A response to the request is constructed using the server program.

  • Patent number: 7356379
Abstract: A method of socket design and fabrication for Below-the-Knee (BK) amputees that utilizes manual measurements. This method, known as BK by Measurement, utilizes a manual measurement procedure where predetermined points are identified and measurements are taken of a patient's residual limb. These measurements are recorded and thereafter entered into a software package enabling customization by the fabrication facility. Prosthetic components fabricated in accordance with the present invention provide a custom fit, while not relying on more expensive digital imaging technology. The invention also provides a method and associated system for recording and retrieving fabrication and/or fitting data associated with a prosthetic component for use with a particular patient, which can include affixing to the prosthetic component a strip debossed with indicia unique to the particular patient or prosthetic component.

  • Patent number: 7354215
Abstract: A dispensing package for a cosmetic/antiperspirant/deodorant or other stick product. The dispensing package can have a tear-away seal integrally molded with the applicator end of the package barrel. The tear-away seal, or a frangible bead forming part of the tear-away structure, can contain a tab for the user to grip when removing the tear-away seal to open the product. The dispensing package can be actuated by rotating a thumb-wheel held in place by two slots in opposing sides of the package barrel. The elevator component that ejects product from the dispensing package can be molded with an unthreaded, self-tapping hole that is tapped by insertion of the actuator spindle during assembly of the dispensing package.

  • Patent number: 7324469
Abstract: A satellite distributed high-speed Internet “Hotspot” enables wireless and hardwired, satellite distributed Internet access for anyone with a PC or other web-ready device (wireless ready or cabled) and a valid credit card or prepaid coupon. The Hotspots can be located anywhere there is 120 volt electricity available or access to the sun for a solar panel and enough space to house the transceiver and mount a satellite dish. Upon connecting to the Hotspot, the user is directed to a remote server for log-on and validation of the user's account. During validation, the remote server verifies that prepaid access time remains in the user's account. Upon validation, the user may browse the web until the prepaid access time runs out. Alternatively, an account may be set up on a “continue until canceled” basis, wherein the user's credit card will be charged for the amount of time used during each session.

  • Patent number: 7309361
Abstract: The use of biologic and/or biologically reabsorbable materials to provide temporary stability after a surgical joint procedure is provided. Exemplary embodiments of the invention provide biologic and/or biologically reabsorbable cam and/or post linings mounted to respective knee prosthesis components. Such linings are reabsorbed after a time sufficient for patient tissue formation to provide permanent stability. Likewise, the invention has application in any joint reconstruction where the integrity of the stabilizing tissue has been compromised by injury or as a result of the surgical procedure itself. Further aspects of the present invention include using biologic and/or biologically reabsorbable materials loaded with agents that may promote tissue formation, fight infection, and promote clotting. Still further aspects of the present invention are directed to the use of biologically reabsorbable snaps or other fasteners to attach a lining to the femoral component and/or the tibial component.

  • Patent number: 7281732
Abstract: An infant stroller having a fold latch mechanism to lock the stroller in the unfolded or deployed configuration. The side of the stroller contains a latchkey piece having a pocket-like recess that engages a latchpin on the stroller's front leg. When the latchkey is in the locked position, the front legs are held in place, locking the stroller in the unfolded or deployed configuration. When the latchkey is disengaged from the latchpin on the front leg, the front leg can be rotated to allow the stroller to be folded for storage or transport. The stroller also has a latching mechanism for locking the tray unit in place during normal use. The tray unit becomes unlocked and can be tucked away during the folding process.
