  • Patent number: 6874205
Abstract: A single-piece slider member (200) is provided for use with a closure device having interlocking fastening strips (108) disposed along opposing side walls (52, 53) of a storage container, such as a conventional plastic bag. The slider member (200) comprises a main body portion (210) which is adapted to be installed upon the interlocking fastening strips (108) and a door portion (240) which is hingedly attached to the main body portion (210) along a hinge portion (241) for movement between open and closed positions. When the main body portion (210) is installed upon the fastening strips (108), the hinge portion (241) is substantially perpendicular to the main body portion (210). The slider member (200) is also provided with a latching mechanism (280) which retains the door portion (240) in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 6786712
Abstract: A closure device for a thermoplastic bag which includes two opposing, longitudinally extending interlockable male and female fastening strips having respective male and female closure elements or profiles that are deformed to interdigitate and produce an audible clicking sound and or tactile effect that is perceptible to the touch as the closure device is opened and closed. Interdigitation of the two profiles is achieved by cold forming the profiles while interlocked. The shape of the cold form is a stepped deflection of both profiles so that their shapes are generally congruent. The stepped deflections provide a change in the occlusion and peel force of the interlocking closure device thereby resulting in an audible clicking or popping sound as the closure device is opened and closed and a tactile effect that is perceptible to the touch as the closure device is closed.

  • Patent number: 6728997
Abstract: The closure device includes interlocking fastening strips and a slider slidably disposed on the fastening strips for facilitating the occlusion and deocclusion of the fastening strips. The external surface of the slider is designed to alter the way in which the slider will be grasped by the user. By providing outwardly protruding surfaces on the side portions of the slider, the slider will be grasped near the front or back of the slider. Thus, the user experiences a feeling that the slider is easier to move along the fastening strips. In another embodiment, by providing a gripping surface near the top portion of the slider, the slider will be grasped near the top portion of the slider. Thus, the slider will be easier to move and the slider reduces the tearing that may result when too much pressure is applied to the bottom portion of the slider during movement of the slider.

  • Patent number: 6681786
Abstract: A tent detachable means for an instant setup foldable tent is disclosed. In this instant setup foldable tent, while retaining the advantages of the instant setup foldable tent such as speediness and convenience, a tent detachable means is provided, making it possible to attach and detach the tent to and from the tent frame, enabling the user to pitch the tent or the fly selectively or both, thus promoting the usefulness of the tent. The instant setup foldable tent includes a plurality of foldable tent frames secured to a hub, and a tent cloth is coupled to the plurality of the foldable tent frames by a plurality of hooks. The tent includes a tent detachable means attached between a lower portion of the tent cloth and a lower portion of each pole of the foldable tent frames making it possible to attach and detach the test cloth to and from the frames, leaving tent frame untouched; and further includes a pole-securing means provided for the poles to be secure to the ground firmly.

  • Patent number: 6651297
Abstract: The closure device includes interlocking first and second fastening strips. The first fastening strip includes a closure element extruded onto a flange portion. The closure element and the flange portion are composed of materials having different densities to control the shape of the fastening strips. The purpose of changing the densities of the material is to reduce or eliminate the curve in the fastening strips which occurs during the manufacturing process. By providing a lower density material for the closure element, which has a greater volume, and by providing a higher density material for the flange portion, the flange portion will crystallize at the same rate as the closure element. This difference in densities results in a reduction or elimination in the curvature of the fastening strips.

  • Patent number: 6595689
Abstract: A closure device (121) with interlocking fastening strips (130, 131) and a slider (132) that establishes a leak proof plastic bag (120). The ends of the fastening strips are heat sealed, melted or otherwise secured together. The fastening strips (130, 131) include a second seal (129) disposed in close proximity to one of the ends of the fastening strips. The second seal (129) is formed by heat sealing to melt the fastening strips together. The second seal (129) prevents the separator (172) of the slider from deoccluding or forming a gap when the slider (132) is at the occluded end. The second seal (129) extends midway up the fastening strips (130, 131) so that the separator (172) moves over the second seal (129) during movement of the slider towards the end.
