Abstract: A plastic draw tape bag includes a non-destructive hem seal which runs along the width of the bag to secure the draw tape. The seal is created by bonding two layers of film by using an adhesive, a hot seal, or a coextruded film. When stressed by adequate forces, the seal will partially open without tearing the film. However, it will open only to the extent that the load exceeds the seal strength. Once the film absorbs the load and the stress is relieved, the seal will stop opening and the remaining portion of the seal will remain intact. Thus, the stress concentration is dissipated without tearing the film at or near the seal. As a result, the bag will fail only when the forces on the bag exceed the load bearing limit of the film.

Abstract: The present invention consists of an inexpensive tight sealing plastic container suited for microwave cooking, top-shelf dishwashing and freezer use. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the container is provided with two compartments, one large and one small. The container utilizes a dual cut-back closure device of which the retaining bead of the container bottom maintains the container top in a secure position. The inside dimensions of the container top are slightly larger than the container bottom in both compartments. The difference in sizes provides an interference fit and forms a substantially leak proof seal along the inside perimeter of both compartments of the container. The container top provides at least one gripping tab, which facilitates the separation of the container top from the container bottom and permit container venting.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an end stop for a thermoplastic bag having a reclosable fastener at the open top end of the bag. The end stop is configured to facilitate snap fit insertion onto the fastener strips. The end stop further include inwardly directed tab and shoulder structure that engage the reclosable fastener and prevent the end stop from being inadvertently pulled off in a transverse direction in order to hold the end stop in place prior to being bonded to the bag. In the case of the line production of thermoplastic bags wherein a continuous web of plastic material is moved from one station to the next, the invention allows for the positioning of the end stop onto the reclosable fastener at a first station and the bonding of the end stop to the bag at a second station.
Abstract: A closure device for a slider bag with a slider and an end stop operable to releasably latch the slider in the closed position and release the slider with minimal user applied force. The closure device includes first and second interlocking fastening strips arranged to be interlocked over a predetermined length. The slider is slidably disposed on the interlocking fastening strips for facilitating the occlusion and deocclusion of the fastening strips when moved towards first and second ends of the fastening strips. The first and second ends of the fastening strips are secured together and an end stop is provided to the first, closing end of the fastening strips. The end stop is provided with quick release latching structure engagable with cooperating latch-receiving structure provided to the mating or opening end of the slider to secure the slider when it is moved into engagement with the end stop at the closing end of the bag.
Abstract: A health watch is disclosed which has various functions such as atmospheric air thermometer, body thermometer, cardiac beat meter, displaying of beating sound waves, display of cardiac beating sounds, blood pressure meter and the like. An IC counting element is provided for each of the functions, and a plurality of display windows are provided to display the respective measured data. For this purpose, sensors are installed on the watch in contact with the wrist. Thus the various functions are combined in one wrist watch, so that a convenience would be ensured by eliminating the troubles of carrying and storing the various conventional separate health checking devices. Therefore, one's own health state can be checked at any place, thereby making it possible to prevent assault of any disease.
Abstract: An optical solar reflector (OSR) for spacecraft having a thin film layer of photocatalytic coating material applied to the space-facing side of the OSR which is effective to maintain long term effectiveness of optical solar reflectors (OSR) by preventing/decomposing organic residues on the OSR surfaces. Preferred photocatalytic coating materials include photoactive transition metal oxides and compound semiconductor materials. The photoactive coating material is excited by the UV or near UV components of solar radiation to generate free carriers. The resulting conduction-band electrons and valence-band holes can then interact with bound oxygen in the organic residues to form radicals and eventually break down the organic contaminants.
