  • Patent number: 4588241
Abstract: A surface mating coaxial connector for use in transmitting signals to an electronic device. The connector has a contact pin electrically and mechanically connected to a central conductor of a small coaxial cable through an axially-moveable connection means. The shielding of the coaxial cable is extended from the cable over the length of the connector including the contact pin by a shield extension means which minimizes interference from adjacent contact pins. An insulation means electrically isolates the shield extension means from the contact pin and the axially-moveable connection means and is configured such that the impedance of the coaxial cable is maintained to the point of contact of the contact pin. The contact pin and a shield collar which surrounds the contact pin are independently and automatically adjustable in the axial direction to compensate for height variations of the surface on which contact is made.

  • Patent number: 4584745
Abstract: A precision file for sharpening saw teeth. The file includes a flattened oblong cross section for exact shaping of the saw teeth. Two sets of single cut teeth are cut into the file and extend over the file's longitudinal axis. A first set of teeth extends from a central lateral axis outward toward one end of the file, and a second set extends from the central axis outward towards the file's second end. The file is thus capable of an extensor cutting stroke using either end.

  • Patent number: 4577153
Abstract: Instrumentation and procedures for detecting geological anomalies occurring in layered coal formations. The instrumentation comprises a medium frequency continuous wave narrowband FM transmitter and receiver pair. Two instrument configurations are disclosed with one being a portable instrument for use within an existing mined area and another being a downhole instrument for insertion into boreholes in unmined areas. Survey procedures are provided to detect anomolies through signal attenuation, path attenuation and signal phase shift. Continuity measurements provide data to determine the existance of anomalies. Tomographic techniques are employed to provide a visual image of the anomaly. Computer aided reconstruction techniques provide such visual images from the generated data.

  • Patent number: 4575229
Abstract: A photoetch plate hinge apparatus having a base photoetch plate for supporting a base hinge platform to which a metal hinge is mounted. The metal hinge is also secured to a coverplate hinge platform which is affixed to a cover photoetch plate via a cantilever bridge structure. The cover plate hinge platform and the cover photoetch plate are capable of vertical arc-like movement relative to the base photoetch plate, so as to accomplish the disposition of sheet material between the base and cover plates for photoetching. The usable surfaces of the plates are totally accessible to irradiation and cleaning, and will not damage when subjected to vacuum photoetching procedures.

  • Patent number: 4563713
Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for positioning a read/write head for transferring information between the head and a magnetic tape containing a plurality of information containing tracks. First and second opposed edges of a reference signal on the recording medium are located, and the locations of the first and second edges are used to calculate the position of the centerline of the reference signal. The centerline position is then utilized for accurate location of information - containing tracks on the recording medium. If no reference track is detected, reference signals are written on the medium, and the reference track location is stored in memory. The apparatus includes a drive means and a head means for reading/writing information, and the head means as indexing means to detect the edges of the reference signal.
