Abstract: A surface mating coaxial connector for use in transmitting signals to an electronic device. The connector has a contact pin electrically and mechanically connected to a central conductor of a small coaxial cable through an axially-moveable connection means. The shielding of the coaxial cable is extended from the cable over the length of the connector including the contact pin by a shield extension means which minimizes interference from adjacent contact pins. An insulation means electrically isolates the shield extension means from the contact pin and the axially-moveable connection means and is configured such that the impedance of the coaxial cable is maintained to the point of contact of the contact pin. The contact pin and a shield collar which surrounds the contact pin are independently and automatically adjustable in the axial direction to compensate for height variations of the surface on which contact is made.
Abstract: A precision file for sharpening saw teeth. The file includes a flattened oblong cross section for exact shaping of the saw teeth. Two sets of single cut teeth are cut into the file and extend over the file's longitudinal axis. A first set of teeth extends from a central lateral axis outward toward one end of the file, and a second set extends from the central axis outward towards the file's second end. The file is thus capable of an extensor cutting stroke using either end.

Abstract: A self-contained trailer for transporting operative or inoperative motor vehicles. The trailer includes a tiltable flat bed for carrying the vehicle, a supporting framework, a towing bar, and an electric winch tilting mechanism. Six low profile wheels are provided to soften ride and to minimize degree of tilt required for loading and unloading. Aerodynamic features, including air scoops and dams, improve handling and fuel efficiency. Steel construction is used throughout for durability. An alternative embodiment is provided which can carry two autos or one very long vehicle. A second alternative embodiment is laterally expandable for hauling extra-wide vehicles.
Abstract: A high-speed feedback circuit for use with, particularly, a buck or buck derived regulator (power processor). The circuit employs a voltage developed by the regulator after the switch and before the filter. From the voltage a current is developed which is combined with (subtracted from) a reference current. The combined current is integrated in a capacitor to develop a voltage used to drive the switch.
Abstract: Instrumentation and procedures for detecting geological anomalies occurring in layered coal formations. The instrumentation comprises a medium frequency continuous wave narrowband FM transmitter and receiver pair. Two instrument configurations are disclosed with one being a portable instrument for use within an existing mined area and another being a downhole instrument for insertion into boreholes in unmined areas. Survey procedures are provided to detect anomolies through signal attenuation, path attenuation and signal phase shift. Continuity measurements provide data to determine the existance of anomalies. Tomographic techniques are employed to provide a visual image of the anomaly. Computer aided reconstruction techniques provide such visual images from the generated data.
Abstract: A photoetch plate hinge apparatus having a base photoetch plate for supporting a base hinge platform to which a metal hinge is mounted. The metal hinge is also secured to a coverplate hinge platform which is affixed to a cover photoetch plate via a cantilever bridge structure. The cover plate hinge platform and the cover photoetch plate are capable of vertical arc-like movement relative to the base photoetch plate, so as to accomplish the disposition of sheet material between the base and cover plates for photoetching. The usable surfaces of the plates are totally accessible to irradiation and cleaning, and will not damage when subjected to vacuum photoetching procedures.
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for interfacing a personal-computer to a 3274/6 compatible cluster controller of a 3270 type system, the apparatus employing a special high-speed processor.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for reclaiming heat from batch digesting operations including two fluid-to-fluid exchangers fluidically interconnected to allow the passage of an inert fluid between the heat exchangers. The inert fluid passes through the inaccessible regions of the heat exchangers promoting the exchange of heat between spent digester cooking fluid and fresh digester cooling fluid without scaling, clogging or blocking the inaccessible regions of the heat exchanger.
Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for positioning a read/write head for transferring information between the head and a magnetic tape containing a plurality of information containing tracks. First and second opposed edges of a reference signal on the recording medium are located, and the locations of the first and second edges are used to calculate the position of the centerline of the reference signal. The centerline position is then utilized for accurate location of information - containing tracks on the recording medium. If no reference track is detected, reference signals are written on the medium, and the reference track location is stored in memory. The apparatus includes a drive means and a head means for reading/writing information, and the head means as indexing means to detect the edges of the reference signal.
Abstract: An auditory-evoked-action-potential-measuring system for measuring the hearing acuity of a subject, the system employing generators for permitting automatic system functionality testing and skin-electrode-contact impedance testing and a switching unit permitting the system to automatically select for measurement the larger of two auditory-evoked-action potentials.

Abstract: An alignment testing device comprising a magnetic media with data tracks in nonstandard locations with bidirectionally progressive degrees of misalignment for testing the alignment of the transducer head in a magnetic storage device such as a floppy disk drive. The alignment testing device allows the user to determine the boundaries of track alignments that the transducer head can read, and thereby determine any discrepancy between the heads actual alignment and correct alignment.
Abstract: A multiple system data storage disk adapted for use with more than one type of computer. The disk is specially formatted to include software for each computer. The disk includes four discrete recognition headers, one for each target computer, placed at locations on the disk where each computer expects to being its data loading operation. Each header further includes software directing the computer to step out to a discrete group of data tracks located elsewhere on the disk. Each data track group contains an identical program, written in each target computer's language. The disk is suited to video games for multiple computers. An alternative embodiment of the disk includes a header or headers containing a magnetic signature for copy protection. A disk can be produced with twenty-four such headers, one for each type of computer on the market, which can be mass produced to provide low-cost copy protection for all machines.

Abstract: A disk has a central aperture and a metallic hub has an annular flange abuting one side of the disk. A boss projects from the annular flange through the central aperture. A retainer ring fits about the boss and abuts the side of the disk opposite from the annular flange. A plurality of laser welds extend between the annular flange and the retainer ring to bond the disk in place therebetween.
Abstract: An acid bath including an inner vessel, having non-opaque wall sections, is sealingly mounted within an outer housing with electric heating elements mounted therebetween. A condensing lid is mounted to enclose the inner vessel to prevent escape of acid fumes therefrom, an optical-type sensor is mounted to transmit and receive optical signals through the non-opaque walls to determine liquid level within the vessel.
