  • Patent number: 4838713
Abstract: The thermal transfer printer of the present invention is provided with a cam follower mounted on a thermal transfer head in one body and an eccentric cam, which is controlled within a semicircle so as to be positioned at either a first position for releasing it from the cam follower to press the thermal transfer head to a platen or a second position for pressing it to release the thermal transfer head from the platen, as a construction for pressing the thermal transfer head to the platen and releasing the thermal transfer head from the platen, whereby the mechanism for pressing the thermal transfer head to the platen and releasing the thermal transfer head from the platen itself can be remarkably small-sized and is simple in action due to its remarkably small working quantity, the printer can be small-sized as a whole and improved in reliability of operation as well as durability.

  • Patent number: 4828148
Abstract: A dispenser for flowable materials, such as resins, which includes dual opposed pistons. As each piston fills with material, the piston rods extend into contact with an actuator member. A cam member is activated when the rods are fully extended to force the material out of the cylinders where it is mixed and then discharged from the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 4814081
Abstract: A disc used primarily in extruding machines positioned between a fluid strainer and a forming die. The disc includes multiple adjacent walls which define honeycomb passages for the fluid to flow through. The disc may serve as a support for the strainer, or with modifications, may be used to achieve other functions, such as fluid mixing and flow rate enhancing.

  • Patent number: 4809881
Abstract: A machine which supports a stack of bins adapted to store small objects prior to shipment. The machine includes an elevator which acts in conjunction with the bin retainers and a programmable controller to remove one bin from the stack and lower it into a filling position. After the filling is completed the elevator lowers the filled bin onto a transport conveyor which removes the bin to a remote storage area.

  • Patent number: 4802849
Abstract: A functional orthodontic appliance which includes permanent magnets embedded in the upper and lower acrylic positioning parts normally positioned behind the incisor teeth of the patient. The magnets are of opposite polarity on the top and bottom parts and positioned so as to influence movement of the patient's mandible into a vertical bite plane. The appliance may also include positioning wires and springs for promoting back tooth eruption corresponding to the change in the bite plane, and lateral expansion screws to promote mouth arch expansion.

  • Patent number: 4799878
Abstract: An incinerator for conserving volatile combustibles pulled from a layer of contaminated earth. The incinerator includes a burner and separate entry lines for the combustibles and the fuel with the combustible entry line terminating in the burner downstream of the fuel line. The heated combustibles therefore supply a portion of the heat to keep the burner operational. Safety features are also incorporated into the incinerator to shut off gas supply if safety conditions are violated.

  • Patent number: 4790233
Abstract: A control system is provided for a hydraulic actuating system having a multi-phase stepping motor with a driver therefor which supplies and controls DC current through each of the motor windings such that no current is induced into the control winding from adjacent windings. The stepping motor precisely controls the rotation of an eccentric cam engaging an actuating plunger which actuates a control valve of the hydraulic actuating system. The driver receives control signals from a computer programmed to calculate, from user input command signals indicative of the desired system condition, and generate those control signals which most quickly achieve a rough approximation of the desired system condition. After this rough approximation is attained, the computer generates new control signals for the driver as a function of feedback signals and/or system component characteristics so as to precisely achieve the desired system condition.
