Abstract: A garden tool which includes a handle and a connected head part. The head part includes multiple sides each formed into a tool part for performing a specific garden task.
Abstract: A method and apparatus of collecting volatile contaminants from the vadose layer of earth. The apparatus is a closed-loop device which includes one or more contaminant withdrawal wells surrounded by multiple air reinjection wells connected by a conduit. One or more pumps serve to draw volatilized contaminant through the withdrawal well to the connecting conduit where it is captured or neutralized. Residual air from the withdrawal well is urged back into the ground through the air reinjection wells to encourage further contaminant to move toward the withdrawal well for collection.
Abstract: A rain gutter which is formed of a one-piece sheet of material and includes terminal flanges. A clip member secured to the building side wall includes a channel into which the gutter terminal flanges are restrictively fitted to suspend the gutter below the building roof. The gutter top wall includes openings to allow moisture to be drained, while preventing entry of debris which could clog the gutter and downspout.
Abstract: A portable refrigeration unit adapted for cold storage of human remains. The unit includes a storage container formed of multiple insulated walls detachably interconnected for rapid assembly and disassembly. A refrigeration unit is connected to the container for maintaining the temperature in the container below indoor ambient temperature.
Abstract: A clay-like filler material formed from treated paper sludge or other fibrous slurries and a method of treating the sludge to form the filler which includes the physical properties of clay fillers. The method involves adding materials to the shredded slurry to control color, bacteria, fungi, absorbency, pests, and fragrance. The slurry is then formed into granules and dried prior to being packaged.
Abstract: A ball bat which includes three portions formed of different types of wood and laminated together. The bat portions are formed of light wood, heavy wood and soft wood, respectively, from the handle to the barrel end of the bat.
Abstract: A package or bed of litter for small animals, having at least two horizontally disposed layers of particulate, liquid absorbent material, the upper layer of which is of relatively coarse particles and contains an odor suppressant therein. The lower layer may have odor suppressant in an amount substantially less than in the upper layer, though normally the lower layer would not contain any substantial amount of odor suppressant material. The litter is normally packaged in an elongated container, with the relatively coarse particulate material on top and the relatively fine particulate material on the bottom. When the litter is to be used, the bottom of the container is opened to permit the discharge of the litter from the container into a box, with the relatively fine material on the bottom and the relatively coarse material containing the odor suppressant on top.
Abstract: A reciprocating piston fluid powered motor having fluid inlet and outlet, wherein reciprocation is controlled by a reciprocable valve spool communicating with said fluid inlet and outlet and cooperating with a valve slide shiftable on said valve spool to control reciprocation of said valve spool. A needle valve assembly controls the exhaust rate proportionally to the operative speed of the motor.
Abstract: A retractable stone guard for the front of a towed vehicle. The guard includes a sheet of durable shape-returning material which may be stretched across the front of the vehicle during road travel. A hinged cover conceals the sheet when in its retracted position.
Abstract: A power transmission which includes a drive pulley and multiple driven pulleys which accommodate forward and reverse drive belts. The driven pulleys are mounted to pivoting carriages which allow relative shifting between forward and reverse and biasing springs which urge the carriages into neutral upon release of the shift lever. A clutch wheel attached to one of the driven pulleys provides for a smooth transition from neutral into forward.
Abstract: A directional microphone having an acoustic damping washer positioned about the microphone cartridge adjacent the microphone rear sound entry.
Abstract: A combination stop and latch for a door. The latch is swingably carried within the door or structure side wall with the stop secured to the other of the door or side wall. The latch automatically swings into an extended position projecting from the door or side wall as the door is opened for engagement with the stop.
Abstract: A dress formed of two sheets of material joined in a back to back relationship. Each sheet has a differential design or color combination and is joinable at one side edge and the top which allows several styles to be attained for the dress. A series of side and top edge closures secures the dress in each of its selected positions.
Abstract: A method and device for reclaiming fluid lubricants, such as oil, which removes both solid and liquid contaminants from the fluid through efficient, adjustable filters and vacuum distillation.
Abstract: A removable top for a vehicle such as a pick up truck. The top includes a single of lightweight transparent material which covers a top opening and a rear opening of the vehicle cab.
Abstract: A chip connector which includes conductive contacts which electrically contact the carrier. The contacts include an outwardly extending cantilevered projection to allow the contacts to be shifted outwardly on downward engaging movement of the connector top to allow insertion or removal of the chip. The connector base includes a wall positioning part which biases the contacts into a preloaded or clamped position.
